## Google Earth Pro Reviews
  ### 1. Google Earth Pro: Amazing Tool for Virtual Travel and World Exploration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bhoopathy S. | Geographic Information Systems Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Google Earth Pro?**

Google Earth Pro is one of the best mapping tools because it allows users to explore the world in 3D using detailed satellite images. It helps people view cities, mountains, oceans, and famous landmarks from their computers. One of its most useful features is historical imagery, which shows how places have changed over time. Users can also measure distances and land areas accurately. The software supports Street View, making it possible to see locations from ground level. It is helpful for students, teachers, travelers, and researchers. Another interesting feature is the flight simulator, which makes virtual exploration enjoyable. Users can create custom maps, save locations, and plan routes easily. Google Earth Pro is free to use and offers an exciting way to learn about the world. Learn more at Google Earth Pro.

**What do you dislike about Google Earth Pro?**

One thing I dislike about Google Earth Pro is that some areas do not have updated satellite images, so the information can sometimes be old. The software may also run slowly on computers with low performance. Internet connection is required for smooth loading of maps and 3D views. Some features can be difficult for beginners to understand at first. In certain places, the image quality is not very clear. The application also uses a large amount of storage and memory. Occasionally, Street View is unavailable in remote areas. The interface looks a bit outdated compared to newer mapping apps. It may crash when handling large data files. Despite these drawbacks, Google Earth Pro is still a very useful tool for exploring the world.

**What problems is Google Earth Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Earth Pro solves the problem of finding detailed geographic information quickly and easily. It allows users to explore places around the world without traveling physically. The software helps in viewing satellite images, measuring distances, and locating important places accurately. It also solves the problem of understanding how locations have changed over time through historical imagery. Students and researchers can use it for learning and projects, while travelers can plan routes and explore destinations before visiting. Businesses and planners benefit from map analysis and land measurement tools. Street View helps users understand real-world locations more clearly. It saves time and reduces travel costs by providing virtual exploration. The software also makes geographic learning more interactive and interesting. Overall, Google Earth Pro benefits users by making world exploration simple, informative, and convenient.

  ### 2. A superpower for remote site assessment and historical mapping

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anuj Ayyan N. | Student Intern, Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Google Earth Pro?**

Honestly, Google Earth Pro feels like having a literal superpower right at your fingertips. From a UI/UX standpoint, it strikes a brilliant balance between professional-grade utility and pure, intuitive exploration. Swooping down from a global view into a crisp, high-resolution 3D rendering of a city street feels incredibly smooth. The interface stays out of your way and lets you focus entirely on data visualization.
What really blows me away is its robust performance and capability for data integrations. Even when I am importing massive GIS datasets, layering complex KML/KMZ files, or pulling in external CSV addresses, the software handles the heavy lifting gracefully. It processes spatial data and syncs with third-party map layers without stuttering, which is a massive win for cross-platform workflows.
On top of that, the support and onboarding experience is excellent. Because it is backed by Google, the sheer volume of accessible tutorials, community forums, and guided documentation means you are never truly stuck. Whether you are a student mapping a project or an engineer analyzing terrain, the learning curve is exceptionally gentle. It takes complex geospatial science and makes it feel entirely human, approachable, and highly collaborative across different platforms.

**What do you dislike about Google Earth Pro?**

If I have to nitpick, the desktop software can occasionally show its age when it comes to modern cloud data workflows. While the standard performance is generally solid, loading incredibly dense historical imagery or attempting real-time integrations with dynamic web map services (WMS) can cause the program to stutter or temporarily freeze. It definitely demands a decent amount of local RAM and a solid graphics card to run flawlessly at peak data loads.
Additionally, while the UI/UX is familiar and highly functional, the overall aesthetic feels a bit dated, like a relic from the late 2000s desktop era. It lacks the sleek, modern minimalism you see in newer web-based mapping applications, and importing non-standard data formats often requires manual conversion before it plays nice with the software.
Lastly, while the onboarding documentation is vast, finding answers to highly specific, niche technical errors, especially regarding broken API links or custom shapefile integration failures, sometimes requires digging through old, archived community forums rather than a direct support channel. It’s a minor inconvenience, but when you are on a tight deadline trying to troubleshoot a corrupted data layer, clicking through pages of old threads can feel frustrating.

**What problems is Google Earth Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the professional world, handling geographic data used to mean wrestling with expensive, highly complex GIS (Geospatial Information Systems) software that required months of specialized training. Google Earth Pro bridges that gap by solving several major real-world problems:
Remote Site Assessment: Instead of spending thousands of dollars flying teams out to physically survey remote terrain, professionals can remotely analyze topographies, view high resolution 3D buildings, and measure distances or perimeters right from their desktops.
Environmental & Infrastructure Tracking: By using the Historical Imagery slider, researchers and urban planners can track decades of change, such as deforestation, urban sprawl, or coastal erosion, solving the problem of fragmented historical data.
Data Siloing: It serves as a universal translator for spatial data. It allows users to easily import and overlay disparate datasets like ESRI Shapefiles, CSV address lists, and GPS tracks directly onto a photorealistic 3D digital twin of the Earth.

  ### 3. A Comprehensive Geospatial Exploration Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zacheriah P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Google Earth Pro?**

Google Earth Pro is still the go-to for desktop-based geospatial exploration and basic GIS tasks. Even though its interface feels a bit like a time capsule from the mid-2000s, the recent updates like AI-driven data layer searching and 3D model imports keep it highly relevant for both professionals and hobbyists. I appreciate the advanced features that are only accessible on the Pro version, such as high-resolution printing, moviemaking, and handling massive GIS data. The AI integration that allows finding specific data layers using natural language prompts is particularly impressive. The 10-meter resolution slope and aspect layers are game-changers for site planning and topographic analysis. I love the historical imagery feature, which lets you slide back through decades of satellite photos, unmatched by any free competitors. Plus, the ability to import custom GLB files for visualizing new structures in a real-world environment is a notable advantage. The software is completely free and offers professional-grade tools at zero cost.

**What do you dislike about Google Earth Pro?**

The navigation transition between street view and top down can be jarring.

**What problems is Google Earth Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Google Earth Pro for geospatial exploration and GIS tasks. Its updates, like AI-driven data layers, keep it relevant. It's the go-to for advanced features such as high-resolution printing and moviemaking, essential for site planning and analysis.

**What do you like best about Google Earth Pro?**

The Google Pro has advanced features which allows me to map delivery polygons, select new stores location by using a 3D view of the area & near by businesses, & view all my stores pinned at a globe.

**What do you dislike about Google Earth Pro?**

Google Earth Pro lacks the fluidity & it's quite slow to show a 3D of a location, for someone who has to check 350+ stores, it becomes very time consuming. The UI interface can also be made simpler.

**What problems is Google Earth Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has very easy integration options which allows me to update the my new stores, & pins by just adding the updated file every quarter.

  ### 7. It saved me hours of work

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lori A. | Research and Consulting Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Google Earth Pro?**

I love that I can upload files with the coordinates of the places I want to locate and that I can save those maps as part of "My Places" and even share them with other people. In my real estate work, this is very useful.

**What do you dislike about Google Earth Pro?**

That at the beginning it is not very intuitive to use. It would be great to have a tutorial for each tool to know what options it has and how they can help us in our work.

**What problems is Google Earth Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Regarding the desktop application, which is the one I use, it has some problems such as the fact that the images sometimes appear blurry (not very good quality) so it doesn't allow me to locate myself well in those places. I've also experienced it freezing when I use a lot of data. As for the utility, it doesn't accept the import of Excel files, so I always have to convert them to another format to be able to upload my files, and that takes a bit of time. Even so, the option to upload my files with coordinates saves me a lot of time when creating maps, instead of doing it one by one and manually. Something I would like Google Earth Pro to have is the ability to change the map background (with other relief styles, for example), which is quite useful for me at work.

  ### 8. Easy Location Saving and Sharing for Teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Google Earth Pro?**

It provides a very detailed view of locations and makes it easy to explore and analyze different places.

**What do you dislike about Google Earth Pro?**

At times, it feels outdated, and performance can be slow—especially on older systems.

**What problems is Google Earth Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me visualize geographic locations clearly, and it saves time compared to doing map research manually.

  ### 10. Trouble with being unable to switch of the display of place names in local languages

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Baerbel S. | Professor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Google Earth Pro?**

The satellite images have a really high resolution and the time back function is great.

**What do you dislike about Google Earth Pro?**

I really hate the fact that Google Earth is showing place names in local languages with non latin scripts and has no user friendly to turn that off. I have changed my entire systems setting and my email account settings to English (US) only.
I have set the language settings in Google Earth to English (US) only. Still, it is showing the maps for India with place names in both English and the local script.
When I go into the fonts to disable all fonts other than latin the system first says that it needs to be restarted to apply these settings and defaults back to "any" during the restart. This makes the maps created unusable for publication purposes because
1) it is not good to show stuff written in other languages/scrips in submissions to journals that have English as their language.
2) It makes it impossible to cut the map such that no name gets cut.
I am really frustrated about this feature and the non-availability of easy switches to switch it off. I had to stop using labels altogether and start photoshopping names into the map in paint to work around this shitty new feature.

**What problems is Google Earth Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating maps for publications
