What do you like best about Foxit PDF Editor?

What I like most is how easily I can apply my PE stamp, flatten load calculations, and redline connection details and rebar schedules directly on stamped drawings without ever leaving the file. The ribbon keeps those tools a single click away, which really matters when I’m up against a tight permit deadline. The direct integration with Revit-exported sheets and Autodesk Construction Cloud also helps a lot: I can pull the latest structural revision straight into my workflow instead of waiting for someone to re-export an updated set. Even with a heavy 50-sheet structural package, the file opens with noticeably less lag than it did in Acrobat. We also cut our licensing overhead by roughly 40% across the engineering team, so the switch paid off almost immediately. On top of that, the AI Assistant has genuinely reduced my research time by pulling specific deflection criteria straight out of dense municipal code PDFs, rather than forcing me to hunt through two hundred pages by hand. What do you dislike about Foxit PDF Editor?

Onboarding was rougher than I expected for a couple of our junior engineers. The documentation around setting up the PE stamp/digital signature workflow felt thin, so I ended up having to walk them through it myself—right in the middle of a code-review deadline. Support wasn’t much quicker either: a license seat transfer during a permit crunch took almost three business days to resolve, which is not a great feeling when stamped drawings are due at the building department.

Performance can also dip when I have a stack of calc sheets open alongside a large foundation or framing plan. I’ve seen occasional stutter during high-res exports and when doing heavier rebar detailing.

My bigger concern is integrations. Our Autodesk Construction Cloud sync dropped locked markup permissions once, and that’s a real risk, especially if it could allow a junior engineer to accidentally alter sealed structural notes on a stamped set. And while the AI Assistant is handy for research, it has occasionally invented or misread shear and load values pulled from dense wind/seismic tables, so I don’t let it substitute for actually reading the calc sheet myself. What problems is Foxit PDF Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main issue it solved for us was a slow, disconnected stamping-and-review cycle. Calculation packages, framing plans, and connection details used to bounce back and forth through email chains or plotted sheets before anyone could actually sign off. Now I can redline connection details, flatten calculation packages, and apply my PE stamp digitally on the same file the architect and GC are viewing, with Autodesk Construction Cloud keeping everyone on the current revision instead of forcing us to chase outdated PDFs through email threads. That has shaved real days off our stamped-drawing turnaround, which matters most during permit crunches when every day counts.

On the cost side, cutting our licensing overhead by the roughly 40% I mentioned earlier works out to a little over $1,000 a year saved across the structural team. That money is now going toward a proper cloud-storage upgrade instead of software renewals. The AI Assistant keeps earning its place as well, pulling deflection and load criteria out of dense municipal code PDFs in seconds rather than having me flip through two hundred pages by hand.
