I use FME primarily to convert data between CAD and GIS formats, and it performs this task exceptionally well. The platform is user-friendly and delivers reliable, high-quality results when integrating CAD and GIS datasets.
Performance is another strong point—data processing is fast and efficient, even for larger workflows. In terms of value, the pricing is quite reasonable compared to the capabilities it offers.
Additionally, the local support from Safe Software representatives here in Auckland has been excellent, providing timely and helpful assistance when needed.
Although I haven’t yet had the opportunity to fully use the AI or intelligence features, their potential stands out. The platform appears to offer promising smart and automated capabilities, and I’m keen to explore how these AI-powered functions can enhance and streamline our workflows in the future. One area for improvement in FME is the user interface, which can feel complex and slightly outdated, especially for new users. While the platform is very powerful, there is a learning curve to fully understand how to build efficient and maintainable workflows.
In addition, debugging and troubleshooting complex workspaces can sometimes be time-consuming, particularly when handling large datasets or intricate transformations between CAD and GIS formats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
