Flutter is one of the best cross-platform technologies available today. It allows us to build scalable apps that perform very close to native, with smooth animations and a consistent UI across both Android and iOS. The single shared codebase dramatically reduces delivery time, since we no longer have to write and maintain two separate native apps. This is also a big win for clients because they do not need to allocate two separate teams or resources for Android and iOS development. The widget-based architecture is powerful and flexible, hot reload makes development very fast, and the growing package ecosystem covers almost every common need. Overall, Flutter has been a game changer for our mobile delivery. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is not much to dislike about Flutter. App sizes can be larger than equivalent native apps. Some platform-specific features still require writing native code or relying on community plugins of varying quality. Dart is a less common language so new team members sometimes have a small ramp-up. These are minor trade-offs compared to the productivity gains and the value of a shared codebase.
