I really appreciate FileRun's flexible shared-folder permission setup, which allows us to grant limited access to outside freelancers and brand clients without exposing our entire internal file library. During our sponsored content campaign, it was invaluable to let our external designer edit only their assigned asset folder. The self-hosted nature gives us greater control over where our client data resides. I also appreciate FileRun’s native file-versioning feature, which automatically saves successive edits for our content files. We were able to roll back to an earlier version easily when a designer accidentally overwrote approved assets. Its web-based interface works well for external stakeholders, allowing clients to preview deliverables without needing to download everything locally. FileRun lacks built-in automated permission reporting, which creates extra overhead for our small team. On our sponsored brand campaign, I could not quickly export a list of who held access to client asset folders. Its alert notifications for file edits are also pretty basic, with no targeted alerts for high-priority directories. Since we have no dedicated IT staff, I have to manually audit user access on a regular basis, eating into time we should spend on content planning and client project delivery.
