FileRun’s self-hosted design and stable WebDAV implementation are its strongest strengths. Hosting data locally allows us to satisfy German GDPR residency requirements for our Dresden enterprise clients. Adjustable folder permissions and continuous activity logging make regular security audits manageable. File version tracking and configurable share links add another layer of control, letting teams collaborate safely without transferring data to overseas public cloud services. There is no native function to automate GDPR-mandated data retention cycles, so we rely on custom scripts to remove obsolete documents. Resources localised for German users are scarce. Large file synchronisation slows during peak server usage. Audit log filtering is too simplistic; sorting events by user groups or document types requires manual work, dragging out compliance assessments for our clients with extensive confidential project archives. I would welcome structured log exports formatted for German data protection authorities and built-in alerts for unusual file access activity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
