What do you like best about ER/Studio?

I love most about ER/Studio is the visual modeling experience and the ability to switch between logical and physical models while maintaining their association. Reverse engineering is another feature that I would like to see more often in other products because it creates a model of the database that helps understand what has been built. The compare/merge feature helps keep track of structural changes, and I find the data dictionary, lineage views, and AI Data Modeling Assistant helpful in maintaining definitions and importing specifications to create a model from a business requirement faster. What do you dislike about ER/Studio?

The interface may be overwhelming for someone interacting with big models and many objects, which requires one to spend time understanding the navigation system. More orientation assistance when first using the main modeling and repository procedures is required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ER/Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used to spend a lot of time manually documenting existing database structures and checking model changes, but ER/Studio lets us reverse engineer databases, compare models and keep the data definitions organized in one workflow. The repository and version management are especially helpful for team work because model changes can be tracked instead of relying on separate copies floating around. For the price, the time saved on modeling, documentation and change tracking gives us a pretty clear ROI, especially on larger data projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
