## Epic Reviews
  ### 1. Epic Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chardae A. | Identity Access Management Admin, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Epic?**

It’s user-friendly and admin-friendly once you get the hang of how to use it. From an IAM perspective the building of templates can be easy also - long as each department tells us whats needed.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Depends upon the subscription/template you have been assigned, you may be missing some tabs or access such as log out button. Editing the blueprint can be very challenging if it's old or the user has multiple roles.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic solves the problem of disconnected clinical, operational, and billing systems by providing a single, integrated electronic health record (EHR) platform. Improves patient safety and records keeping.

  ### 2. Comprehensive EMR system with powerful integration but steep learning curve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dr A. | Assistant Consultant NICU, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Comprehensive patient record management across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Excellent interoperability with other systems, making care transitions smoother.
Strong decision-support tools that improve clinical accuracy.
Customizable dashboards and templates tailored for specialty needs.
Secure, reliable, and regulatory-compliant with frequent updates.
Patient portal (MyChart) enhances patient engagement and communication.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

User interface can be overwhelming and unintuitive, especially for new staff.
Requires extensive training before users feel comfortable.
System performance can slow during high-volume usage.
Customization is powerful but often requires IT intervention.
Cost of licensing and maintenance is high, especially for smaller organizations.
Alerts can be excessive, leading to “alert fatigue.”

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

pic solves the problem of fragmented healthcare data by bringing clinical, administrative, and financial workflows into one system. It improves communication between care teams, reduces duplication of work, and minimizes errors. The integrated reporting and decision-support tools help with regulatory compliance and support better patient outcomes.

  ### 3. Intuitive and Powerful EMR That Delivers Exceptional Results

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin H. | Director of Quality, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Epic?**

EPIC is probably the best EMR I have ever used. I worked with it for around three years and found it to be very intuitive, as well as a powerful solution that is friendly to both patients and nurses.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I have no complaints about EPIC. I consider it to be an excellent product.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Documenting in the EMR can be a challenge for clinicians, but I found EPIC to be the most intuitive EMR I have ever used. Its real-time, secure messaging feature, which is HIPAA compliant, is particularly impressive and has a significant positive impact on clinicians' workflow. I believe that any medical service line could easily adopt EPIC as their EMR solution. The system is designed to be user-friendly, making it accessible and efficient for users.

  ### 6. EPIC SYSTEM REVIEW

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John Dave P. | Utilization Review Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic allows for complete documentation of a patient’s medical history, lab results, medications, procedures, and visit notes , all in one unified platform. With Epic's Care Everywhere feature, patient data can be securely exchanged with other healthcare providers who also use Epic or compatible systems, improving continuity of care.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

New users often find Epic complex at first. Initial training is essential, and it can take time to master the workflows.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problem: Paper-based or siloed digital records often led to missing information or duplicated efforts.
Epic’s Solution: Epic centralizes all patient data, from visit notes and lab results to medications and allergies, in one secure, easy-to-access system.
Benefit to Me: I can quickly access a patient’s complete history, which improves clinical decision-making and reduces errors.

It helps Improve patient care, streamline workflows, and enhance data access. I like the easy integration with other systems through its cloud-based architecture

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

It doesn't have historical data to come up with trends. There is a steep learning curve to build some of the reports.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic can help track important revenue cycle KPIs. Our hospital has used some of the reporting to try to decrease certain types of denials.

  ### 9. Epic is a great tool for managing out clients

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2024

Bad UI, gives 2007 window feels
Complex interface and outdated also

  ### 11. Epic Integration with Reputation Automates My Workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah R. | Director of Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Epic?**

As a medical clinic, we use Epic daily to manage our patients protected health information and facilitate communication between our clinical teams. In regard to the integration with Reputation, it is a time saver for me! In the past, I had to manually download a file from Epic and then upload it into my reputation management software. I was not able to be consistent with gaining survey information and online reviews as this process didn't take place daily. Now the whole process is automated with the integration between Reputation and Epic so I don't need to check on this or even think about it happening. I can see the results in my dashboard every day. This has given us much needed patient feedback and has increased our online reviews significantly.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

In regard to the integration between Reputation and Epic there is nothing that I dislike. Clean, simple and easy. In regard to Epic in general, often the upgrades change our clinic work flow which is frustrating for staff. The communication about these changes does not always take into account how we use the platform.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One example of how Epic is benefiting our group is Epic work queues. They make our the process of obtaining and tracking information for priorauthorizations simple. Our team has all the information they need in one place rather than having to touch a chart multiple times. This increases efficiency, as well as patient experience.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** April S. | Travel Registered Nurse, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Ease of use. Information is pulled over from different catagories so It doesn't haver to be entered multiple times.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

There are some features IK would like to see to help work flow.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saves time comopared to other programs.

  ### 14. Simply put: the best EHR software out there

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Organization and ability to customize tabs, and most importantly steal productivity tips/smart phrases from my colleagues that allowed me to hit the ground running in my new job.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Sometimes there are too many options and it can become convoluted and confusing to find things I need

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Streamlining patient care in the hospital and bridging it to outpatient services as well makes this a superior product.

  ### 15. great with intregration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Having to learn a new system if you have never used it.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to get care everywhere records, easily imports records from facilities, as they use epic as well.

  ### 16. Easy and Quick

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katelyn R. | Licensed Realtor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Its very user friendly and easy to learn and find whats needed.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

They have many different folders for bascially the same thing. It could be a little more compacted and not have as many options to sort things.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its solved keeping all of my patients history and medical records in one place. It also helped when inputting new data and allowed us to do it very efficiently and quickly.

  ### 17. Very user-friendly, so many features!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenna J. | Fiscal Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Epic?**

So many features, for each kind of service your providing, to the medical billind side of things, it is great!! To customize it to work for your facility, to when you need help there is great customer service to help you!
10/10 loved EPIC. I now have a new job that uses Carepaths, and it makes me miss EPIC!!

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

EPIC is difficult to learn as there are so many features and many ways to do things. They also do many updates that change things around and then it takes awhile to get the hang of things again.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are constantly doing updates, which is helping things, but also causing a challenge due to having to learn how to find things again.

  ### 18. Do your job

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shaunna W. | Emergency Medical Scribe, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I like how user friendly it is. I was previously using Cerner and the switch from Cerner to epic was quite seamless. I also like how you are able to customize the viewer/interface to your liking and what you use most.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I dislike how sometimes the system will not let you move on without acknowledging the "hardstops" especially when you are in a hurry.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to easily document and chart patient care effortlessly.

  ### 20. This EMR has many tools to help ensure patient records are kept safe.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie A. | Intake Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Using EPIC helped ensure that hospital/medical staff had access to see all information regarding patient and their care. If I was looking for fiscal information, I never had to do digging. Patient information was always so easy to access.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Sometimes there were many subcategory groups. So if we had to access something specific like the patients medication list, it would be a lot of clicking until we got to the particular category.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EPIC is organizing all information pertaining to patients and their care. It simplifies accessing records by making it very streamlined. It allows for document scanning so many times images are taken from EPIC.

  ### 21. Epic

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Easy to navigate but sometimes shutdowns hang

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Hanging always, you are using suddenly frozen

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easier to assess patients

  ### 22. Epic is good softword

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sophia Z. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Epic?**

We can use client's first name and last name, mailing address, phone # to search the client info, it is very good for searching the client's information, aslo the reminding memo is good for our work.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

We can't use the client's location address to find the client information, this point I don't like it,

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic help our agcent to set up the client home and auto information, also we can set up the client's business information, it can help our renewal department to call the client for renewal.

  ### 23. Epic: A Vital System for Effective Patient Healthcare Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danielle J. | Enrollment Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic is a comprehensive record that is relatively easy to navigate (considering the volume of complex information it stores). The interface with other platforms (like Tableau, CipherHealth, and CarePort) is good. Also, creating customized reports to gather data or identify a specific patient population is good.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Sometimes it is difficult to find particular features even when typing in keywords. Also, CareEverywhere pulls in outside hospital records that are hard to glean helpful information (like discharge summary or what happened during the course of the OSH stay).

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic is a tool that contains comprehensive patient information across the continuum of their healthcare (labs, outpatient appointments, hospitalizations, ED visits, x-rays, orders, medications, etc). It seems to continue to try and interact with other systems to pull in even more information from outside hospitals, clinics, (and even skilled nursing facilities now) which will help providers have an even better picture of their patients, i.e. provide even better care.

  ### 24. RN-BSN

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fatoumata D. | Registered Nurse, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Easy to use, and allow me to sign progress notes at my convenient

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

their multiple pages to navigate through.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recording patients' information, rooming, progress notes, booking appointments, and managing medication administration. Also adding new patient to the system.

  ### 25. Very Powerful EHR

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I love the variety of features and the ability to automate and pre-populate things when documenting encounters.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

With all of the features, it can take some time to learn how to be efficient with Epic. There are classes for this that can help though.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic is allowing me to provide high quality and efficient care.

  ### 26. Epic review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Care everywhere allows chart access from different hospitals

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Too many clicks to find certain information

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

  ### 27. it works great

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Epic?**

smart phrases and customization make documentation a breeze.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Database search and the nonsensical way things are set up are not intuitive. Perhaps have a medical professional work with an engineer for more streamlined use.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Documentation and patient record filing. Makes it easy to find most things, especially when all synched in.

  ### 28. Excellent if all features are included and initial training is done well

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Creating lists of patients and organizing how you need them is very helpful. I also like the synopsis/summary page, which gives a quick overview of the patients.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Changing to Epic from another EMR system is a hassle; not everything moves over correctly. The roles that people are assigned to limit their access based on the "standard" of the role, and each time you need to get access to something you don't already have, you need to request access to it.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic has allowed multiple parts of a patient's care team to work simultaneously and see in real-time what visits, labs, imaging, etc., the patient has had done.

  ### 29. Progressive EMR

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic allows patients to view medical records such as laboratory results, diagnostics - x-rays, MRIs, after-visit summaries, prescriptions, etc. in one place. If the patient has seen multiple providers regardless of their location, country, state or city, if they're using Epic, then the information is all accessible to the patient and the providers. Continuity of care is extremely beneficial for the patient and saves a tremendous amout of time for clinicians.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

There are many features and functionalities with Epic that are not consistent. There are often workflows that are not intuitive or logical for the end user. Epic has its own vocabulary. If the user is unfamiliar with Epic, then the learning curve can be time-consuming. Epic is truly unlike other EMR applications. Frequent quarterly Epic updates are tedious and tiresome requiring a lot of time to review, build, test and implement. Frustrations for users can run high as changes in functionality are sometimes poorly articulated.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic is solving the issue of continuity of care. It is also solving the issue of forgotten or mistaken memories of medical histories, laboratory results, diagnostics - x-rays, MRIs, after-visit summaries, prescriptions, etc. and creating a source of truth in one place.

  ### 30. Very helpful and efficient!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zarina B. | Facilitator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

The most helpful thing about Epic is that it compiles all the information that you and the physician require in an efficient manner! I am able to easily look at past visits and create new entries smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

The one downside with the Epic system is that sometimes if other providers do not use the Epic system, they will not be in the system, so we have to manually enter that information.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic helps us keep record of all patient information and history in one place so that it is easy and efficient to access. We don't have to struggle to keep physical copies of patient notes.

  ### 31. Lots to learn, but once you get the hang of it - a great EMR

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Selina I. | Physician Assistant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I love the ease of accessing patient charts and trending lab values. The chart review function is great and allows the user to view pictures, outside records, imaging from outside facilities, just to name a few. Filtering notes by service or specialty is a time saver. The smartphrase function for "dot phrases" is also a very helpful tool when writing notes.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Epic has a lot of functions, gadgets and tools - it feels overwhelming. Despite being trained multiple times by epic specialists, I still do not know how to use many of these functions. Additionally, there is not a good way to filter keywords, so you end up going through an excess of information and wasting time. It is definitely not an easy EMR to use because there are lots of details that are easy to miss and overlook.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For problem-solving, epic is such a valuable tool. I work in infectious disease and tracking someone's white count, fever chart, and what medications they are on (specifically antibiotics) aids in the detective work of figuring out what the diagnosis is. Additionally, comparing microbiology results from previous visits is a huge benefit.

  ### 32. Epic Scheduling Software is excellent for my business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather N. | Senior Administrative Assistant Department of Pediatric Newborn Medicine, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

The variability of reports and data I can obtain with a couple of clicks is very easy to use. When I need to see who was called in and how many times based on the patient flow for quarterly updates, Qgenda provides all this information concisely and in just a few clicks .

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Sometimes I find that the Rules presented skew the tallies in the end, but it is an easy fix by excluding this in my data pull. Perhaps having an specific report able to generate based on the rules I wanted to " override"

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scheduling has always been tough because although the staff is full-time, their schedules are particular, and the way they round on babies varies from month to month and season to season. Most of the team have young families at home, which their schedules have to work through.

  ### 33. User friendly and easy to navigate

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valencia W. | Senior Patient Affairs/Provider Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

User friendly and easy to navigate. I thought after 7 years of not working this system that it would be hard to understand. I caught on in just over a weeks times and didn't need any assistance. Most of it is self explanatory. This system and most of the EHR are very easy.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I don't like have to go completely out of the patients account in order to see the changes come up. I work so many accounts in a day that it's hard to pick back up because it doesn't give you a field for accounts that were recently worked.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is a very good financial sustem for the higher ups and being able to monitor the work and for how long. It is easy to work from a management stand point. It would be better if it were more user friendly because reps use it most not management

  ### 34. The best laid out EHR I have used.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julie P. | Remote Anesthesia Coder, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

There are a lot of tabs, but they take me where I need to, and I can switch back quickly. I can find the information in need, including orders, infusions, etc.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

There is not much I don't like. Occasionally I have problems finding info, like immunization info, but can usually find things with looking around the tabs.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hopefully, they are fixing EAP codes. Some CPT descriptions are wrong.

  ### 35. The future dominant marketshare leader in healthcare systems

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic seems to have the best overall EHR and they have devoted time and resources towards API's that allow integrators to unlock more value from the data stored in Epic.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

The App Orchard portal is a disaster to deal with when you need access and it takes forever to get assistance with gaining access. This is a huge issue for the organizations that need it most because its common to need access to another organization's App Orchard.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic API's were used to access (remotely) the scheduling/appointment information stored within Epic, through a browser, discovered via a regular google search by a patient.

  ### 36. Epic Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather H. | Operations Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic is a great way to communicate with not only patients but with other providers.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Epic can be intimidating at first. But after some use it becomes very second nature.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication between other providers and clients. It keeps everything in one place.

  ### 37. It has been a big upgrade for our company

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emma P. | Clinical services assistant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Being able to view everything in one place for my client. I am able to see updates from the providers in real time. I can find everything I need in an organized place.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

We use this for a behavioral health setting. Epic is really set up for more of a medical setting. So we are having to work out the kinks and having to work with epic writers to name adjustments as we have needed.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

Once you get the hang of it, it works great

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this for a behavioral health setting. Epic is really set up for more of a medical setting. So we are having to work out the kinks and having to work with epic writers to name adjustments as we have needed.

  ### 38. Confusing but, Useful

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriella W. | Certified Peer Recovery Coach, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2020

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic definitely allows you to customize your view of the patient's chart, history, snapshot, etc... You are able to see medical, mental health and financial information all from one program. As a nurse, doctor or other healthcare provider you can see the notes put in by anyone. This can help with coordinating a patient's care. You also have the option to setup formats in a way your billing provider prefers. This reduces the amount of time it takes to retype instructions each time.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

It is difficult to learn and navigate at first. It is not an easy system to figure out without quite a bit of instruction first. You definitely need an IT ready to assist with troubleshooting and setting someone up in the beginning. Make sure you are prepared with exactly what you want. You need to ensure you can tell Epic what formats you want, what you would like the templates to look like and then decide whether or not you want the templates the same for all workers in the same category.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is easier to navigate all aspects of a patient's chart. It is nice to be able to have a different template for each healthcare worker. I cannot comment on the financial aspects of this as I am not involved in that process. I do see the benefit to having a system the whole organization has access to. I would like to see it be a little more user friendly in the future. I would hope this would be one of their goals.

  ### 39. One month in

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Epic?**

All platforms rolled into one for outpatient use

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Research program not properly implemented

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scheduling issues

  ### 40. EPIC review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Easy to use layout with many options- I love how you can set up and view the OR schedule. It is color-coded based on patient status and has a ton of detailed information, such as where they are in the process (pre-op, in surgery, post-op, etc.). Easy to use and beneficial search function to look for keywords within the chart.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Sometimes the number of options and tabs and customization can be challenging to sort through. It is best to have an EPIC trainer go through and set it up for your needs before using it. It takes a while to get used to and then is very quick to navigate.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

Very comprehensive for reviewing patient information. Some training is helpful for initial setup and navigation. The ability to customize the layout is useful, allowing one to see imaging, notes, media/pictures, etc., with the click of a tab. I like how you can see different results from different tabs/areas. If you want to see labs, you can select labs. However, this can also be accessed from the results review, which gives you a different look at performed labs, dates, and results.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic allows me to get a thorough examination of a patient's chart and organize my homepage with the most critical information I need access to. This, in turn, allows me to spend less time looking for what I need.

  ### 41. Best EMR I've worked with

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate B. | Physician Assistant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Care everywhere, quick chart completion, interface is very customizable. There is more than one way to do everything which at times is a downside but often an advantage. Many parts are customizable and you can show/hide many different options. I like that you can take away what you don't use. Epic will generate info you likely won't need however is usefull when you acutally need it. You are able to pull up results review without having to enter the patient chart, but expanding this to be able to enter more information on the side screen would improve the ability to complete an entire chart without having to go through the loading time of opening a chart and also allow you to keep an eye on the list or tracker without having to click back into it.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Slow to load charts and leave charts, especially since you can only have a certain number of charts open at a time. Can have lots of clicks to perform simple tasks which can be quite annoying. There is also a lot of variation between how different users interact with Epic which makes it hard to identify where something should be on someone else's screen. At times there is too much information and despite having a large screen at my workspace it seems like I need a bigger one due to having to resize windows.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick patient charting and seamless results integration lead to seeing more patients in a given shift. At times there is too much information and despite having a large screen at my workspace it seems like I need a bigger one due to having to resize windows.

  ### 42. Efficient and User Friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I enjoy the ease of use with Epic as opposed to the Soarian system our hospital used to utilize. It’s much more user friendly, the formatting isn’t intimidating and anyone with a basic knowledge of computer software can manage to use the system effectively.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I can honestly say there is nothing about this program that I can think of that I dislike. It’s made a huge difference in how we treat our patients.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

There is training that you will need in order to effectively use the system and to integrate correctly from whatever system you are currently using now but it is definitely worth the cost and the tutoring time that it takes.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With epic we are solving the issues of real-time communication with charts and doctors orders that are needed to efficiently treat patients. The benefits are definitely that our patient care numbers in Press Ganey are higher as a result of faster service to those we care for.

  ### 43. Too many clicks to achieve one action

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

So much space for information storage. It can save patient information to a near unlimited amount (demographic, imaging, labs, past encounters, etc.). It also has a lot of customizability for those who use Epic regularly. For example, they can save shortcuts or move tabs to their liking or practicality.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

It takes many clicks to achieve just a single action. Sometimes it takes a long time to load or crashes entirely. When this occurs, it certainly does not lend itself to high quality, efficient patient care. It also needs a simpler interface, or at least the option for one. There is a steep learning curve for this program.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've improved in using Epic by attending trainings held by my workplace. I also have spent personal time becoming more familiar with the program and customizing its interface. I have asked others for advice about how to make premade templates to save times and clicks to completing notes.

  ### 44. A healthcare platform for everyone

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Every user can customize which pages and tools are present on their toolbar. This allows for much greater ease of use.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Certain actions require a lot more clicking than other healthcare platforms I've used. This does add a measure of security because it's a lot harder to do something accidentally but it can also slow you down significantly when you're busy.

Also, the blood bank department had to make use of a secondary software because Epic was not equipped to handle all of their needs.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to implement one software program across all departments of the hospital is extremely beneficial. As a laboratory employee, I have access to view the patient's chart for the purpose of being able to corroborate certain test results with their condition or medications they're receiving without having to call the nurse. This has greatly improved the workload for both parties.

  ### 45. Very user friendly interface.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Very easy to look up patient charts without any difficulty compared to other health softwares. I like how each patient has clear specific subsections like follow-up and medications so that you cannot miss those.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I am not sure if this is the cause of Epic or the wifi connection but clicking a particular section on the patient has a slight delay. Sometimes it would stop responding and inevitably crash. It also prevents you from opening multiple patient charts at the same time.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am transcribing patient notes into the system through the use of EMR. The benefits include sharing health records (HIPAA compliant) with other health systems to help tackle the patient's disease and provide efficient care. Using EPIC ensures that the patient does not have any missing important health information when seeing other doctors from different subspecialties.

  ### 46. End User Engagement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

The ease of usage and the logical flow of the information as it pertains to every aspect of the patient or the physicion(s) involved with the record keeping.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Sometimes you would like to review information associated with particular profiles and you can't unless you have the right access to the historical data. Slight frustration, but not serious.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

This system is the full package. You want to be at the forefront of the technology in this space so I would highly recommend that you strongly consider this product in order to scale your business going forward and not have to worry about this record management space. It pays for itself in time gained, and accuracy as it also is aligned with the required standards of the industry.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to have all the historical data associated with the care of an individual at your fingertips is fanominal. You can schedule appointments, cancel appointments, correspond with your providers and view all pertainent lab data, test, etc. at an instant. Having this information integrated into one location saves so much time.

  ### 47. Epic is a competent and capable EMR

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Easy to maneuver and provides extended information pertinent to a patient

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

It could be more intuitive and integrate with email

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

User ease and accessibility could improve. Integration with other platforms is slow-moving and tedious at times, so it is essential to know what you would like to do and clear strategies. Epic has many special functions, but they are often difficult to find.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We manage our patient population and document encounters and medical history for them.

  ### 48. Very beneficial to providing patient care

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hannah L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I appreciate the fact that I can look up patient information from previous visits in addition to looking up future ideas about how we will care for the patient. In addition, I can do all my charting in one place with the quick tabs. I can also customize how I want my screen to pop up every day.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I can't delete certain features that I will never use. This takes up space. But, at least I know these features are always there.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

much better than other EMRs!

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easier to have patient-centered care when I can chart in the same room as them. Epic allows for fast and efficient charting.

  ### 49. The standard for EMR these days, though overly complicated for smaller organizations.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

The fact that I can see every piece of medical data I need, from orders, encounters, reports and even images is a huge benefit in my position as an analyst. It's become a one-stop-shop for me in regards to reviewing medical records, and the auditing and reporting tools are incredibly powerful.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Complexity...so much complexity. For all of its power, EPIC is one of the most complex EMR systems, both in setup and operation. Because EPIC builds are specialized for each organization, my training in Wisconsin felt almost like wasted time because our production version was so incredibly different from what they showed us. Changing hospital systems was a challenge, as my new hospital's EPIC instance is very different from my previous one.

There is also a level of compartmentalization that can be overwhelming. Having something changed in our build requires submitting it, having it get vetted by local engineers who often need assistance from EPIC. The result is something as simple as a worklist or procedure code change can (not always to be fair) take weeks or even months at a time. It's not terrible, but it can be frustrating if you are coming from an environment where users and admins have more control over their EMR.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

Be certain EPIC is what you need. That's not to say at all that EPIC is a bad product; it's just that smaller organizations will not benefit from a system as grand as EPIC is. For the cost involved with running it, only larger hospital systems should consider it.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's become the central EMR system for the company, and it allows me to access almost every aspect of data I need as an analyst. It also integrates with other hospital systems making data transfer so much easier which directly benefits our patients.

  ### 50. Very patient and physician friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sapir T. | T, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Very user friendly. Makes the whole experience much easier. Can save .phrases and make everything a breeze when it comes to patient care. Competitions can't compete

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I dislike that notifications sometimes are hidden and it's hard to find certain messages when wanting to respond to colleagues or patients. Maybe making a mailbox that is accessible.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Patient care is much more efficient and streamlined. I am an employee but my hospital benefits. Yes I am more productive yes the business performance has increased
