I'm old school, former Novell, post NDS & NLM days... eDir is what made Novell relevant again in the market place. One essential, centralized directory to manage and orchestrate everything. The first cross-platform directory service was easy to use, configure, deploy and maintain. This helped with managing mission-critical business imperatives such as zero-day start and stop, ensuring every employee or partner had access to the right tools, apps, and services by automating provisioning and deprovisioning. There were none. The biggest 'downside' was a lack of market awareness. As a seller, I was often told NO -- NO to Novell. I asked for them to know Novell before they said No to Novell. The response was overwhelming, tell me more but we are a x,y,z shop and we aren't buying Netware... so I made a promise.
