"Automated Load Rating and EDI Tendering That Streamlined Our Outbound Planning"
5/5
What do you like best about Descartes Shipper TMS?

What I like most is how much manual work it took out of our outbound planning. Orders come over from our ERP and load planning tool, and in TM we can rate each load against all our carrier contracts, pick the cheapest one that fits, and send the tender by EDI with a right-click. The 990 acceptance comes back the same way, so we don't have to chase carriers by email or phone to confirm a load anymore. When we started rolling it out, we went from about a quarter of our weekly orders planned and tendered in TM to close to 90% within roughly 10 weeks.

The GLN setup made carrier onboarding manageable. Most carriers connected through standard 204/990/214/210 documents, and the Descartes integration team ran the testing with them directly. Having MacroPoint tied to the same loads also gives our team and clients one place to see tracking status instead of checking each carrier's portal. The tariff import template is useful too. It lets us load carrier rates in bulk instead of keying them in one by one Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Descartes Shipper TMS?

MacroPoint tracking hasn't always been consistent, especially when carriers use their own ELD or hand off LTL freight, and fixing it took a lot of back and forth. Some rating and contract setup issues need a support ticket to resolve, and smaller changes like adding fields to the EDI tender go through an enhancement request instead of being configurable on our end.
