Digging further into the fraud checks and the tracking history for each carrier is an added bonus. The integration with TMS platforms also delivers very good performance, without having to be in the control tower when it isn’t needed. The support we receive is prompt, and we’re always offered the chance to connect in a meeting to review anything we have questions about. From what I can see, the ROI is worth the price. The AI isn’t something we’ve done a deep dive into day to day yet, but it’s something we’re currently looking into. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** Geofence events can occasionally trigger incorrect arrival/departure times if a driver is passing by or next to the facility at another location. Driver adoption can be a battle but with the new help of the AI tool to reach out for them to update helps combat that. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** MacroPoint provides up to date visibility, reduces manual tracking efforts and shipment status accuracy. The Control Towers is intuitive and easy to navigate, allowing us to quickly access load information, tracking events, and shipment status updates without having to reach through multiple screens. I also appreciate the detailed tracking available for each update, including visibility into the source of location pings and tracking identifiers. Features that help detect potential location spoofing or suspicious tracking activity add an extra layer of confidence when monitoring shipments. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** Overall, the platform works very well for our operational needs, and I have not encountered any major issues. I find it valuable that I can create new sessions when a load has expired or is completed because this prevents issues when a load reaches its end. It automatically stops when a load finishes the lane, and I'm able to create a new session in case the truck is still heading to the destination. The integration with Arrive Now is also handy because loads that appear in Arrive Now show automatically on Descartes MacroPoint. The initial setup was great, very clear and concise, and overall, Descartes MacroPoint is an excellent tool to help me with my job. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** No complaints, all good. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Descartes MacroPoint to track loads and restore connections easily. If they don’t, you still end up relying on manual monitoring, which means you’re only partially meeting the goal. That’s what I dislike about this. If there were another option to set the drivers up directly, it would be perfect. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main is that MacroPoint basically fixes the problem of not having real-time visibility when tracking loads. Instead of depending on constant check calls or manual updates, it gives you automatic GPS tracking. For me, it saves a lot of time, cuts down on follow-ups, and lets me focus more on exceptions instead of chasing every single shipment. It also makes it easier to keep customers updated with accurate info and more reliable ETAs. ### 5. We also appreciate the improved visibility it provides, letting us know where our drivers are when delivering for customers. It automatically notifies us if a driver shuts off tracking or encounters any issues. The initial setup was straightforward, it was basically plug-and-play. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** I am generally happy with the product, but it would be nice if there was a feature for drivers to upload receipts, PODs, etc. Additionally, I wish there were more ELD drivers on it and think more syncs would be helpful for us. An outreach to more drivers to get on ELD tracking and an updated app that can accept PODs to flow into our TMS would enhance our experience. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Descartes MacroPoint provides us with better visibility of drivers delivering for our customers, and it alerts us if a driver turns off tracking or if there are any issues. ### 6. Unfortunately some of the key tools are in the 2.0 version so you have to go between them. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** We love the visibilty platforms and integration tools. It really helps us track the trucks and see the unit's location so we can take action if there's a deviation from the planned route. Additionally, setting it up didn't take much time, and uploading for anyone is really easy. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** The updates maybe? I mean, some clients would like to get updates, like, more frequently. So sometimes, like, the lapses of time maybe ten minutes or one hour, for some people is too long. So maybe having, like, small errors, gaps of time. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Descartes MacroPoint solves communication issues with carriers, providing live tracking to keep customers informed. We have worked with the help desk to help refine these issues and they are always quick to assist us **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not only is Macropoint providing us with a clear picture of where our trucks are on the road and if they are able to reach the destination on time, but also allowing us to send tracking notifications to customers during non business hours to have round the clock updates ### 9. Accurate Location History, Flexible Interfaces, and Responsive MacroPoint Support **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026 **What do you like best about Descartes MacroPoint?** The breadcrumb location updates provide an accurate location history for Arrive loads and give customers good visibility. The Control Tower and Historical Search interfaces can be adjusted to make it easier to verify load details and confirm the current tracking identifier. The self-service onboarding link includes clear instructions, and carriers can add their credentials directly that helps them save time when following the instructions. If there are any issues during the integration process, we can email the MacroPoint team, and they typically reply within one day. The website also doesn’t experience power outages often (about once or twice per month), and when they do occur, they’re usually resolved the same day or by the following day. **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** Sometimes tracking sessions stop pinging because the Inaccuracy Reason filter is incorrectly filtering out the pings. As a result, even though the truck, trailer, DR phone, or TMS load ID is still pinging, the updates show up only in FraudGuard and not in Location History. Also, some mobile tracking loads stop pinging and stay in the Possible Fraud Detected Status and we have to create a new tracking session even when we update the tracking identifier with a compatible DR phone or switch to ELD tracking In Historical Search, the tracking session map can only be opened by hovering over the load and clicking “View Map,” rather than clicking the load number directly. This change was confusing at first, and it also adds extra clicks when we’re trying to check Tracking Sessions Completed. We also usually only find out an ELD has issues after we notice loads aren’t tracking and then email the MP team. For example, Omnitracs didn’t work for a few days, but there was no warning about the issue. We only confirmed it by emailing daily to verify the connection status. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** The Location section in FraudGuard helps the VisTools team confirm which locator was used previously. The “Choose View” section helps the High Risk/High Value team verify the current DR location and cross-check the carrier’s update against the actual DR location in Satellite View. This makes it easier to confirm, for example, whether the DR is in a secure location. MP 2.0 also has a more user-friendly interface than the Lite version. We can navigate to a different section of the website while viewing the tracking session. ### 10. It’s really quick, the information is always accurate, and it loads very fast. I really wish that other tools in my workspace were like this. Ive connected it to slack, and it goes very well withit! **What do you dislike about Descartes MacroPoint?** Honestly, my only note is that the interface looks kind of plain and a bit boring, and there isn’t much room for personalization. I also have some photophobia, so a dark mode would be really helpful and awesome. **What problems is Descartes MacroPoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** The setup and startup have been amazing—really, really easy. It’s helped me track the shipments we handle and manage, and overall it’s been awesome.
