For its price range, not many other platforms provide the same level of detail for media monitoring. **What do you dislike about Critical Mention?** The user interface is a bit clunky and not responsive to different types of devices. The social media monitoring function is often inaccurate or does not capture sentiment; the platform should focus in on the core service of media/press queries rather than cross platform integrations that are not done as well. **What problems is Critical Mention solving and how is that benefiting you?** For a nonprofit organization, this provides a mostly simple, direct way to stay on top of press and media hits. It saves time for our teams and helps us support our international offices with a service they need but don’t have the resources to manage on their own. ### 2. The analytics at the top, the breakdown of categories, the charts and the ability to view all coverage in one place is loved by myself and my clients. **What do you dislike about Critical Mention?** The estimated audience values are always wayyyyyy off for online outlets. We are constantly having to adjust the numbers which is extremely time consuming and frustrating. It also misses a ton of mentions so we are often having to search for coverage manually or via other search engines and adding them to reports manually. **What problems is Critical Mention solving and how is that benefiting you?** It allows us to compile all media coverage in one place and provides analytics to show the value of PR work. ### 3. These reports allow us to easily monitor the reach, sentiment, and impact of our communications efforts. **What do you dislike about Critical Mention?** I wish that the search function were easier to use. I can easily download clips and share them in real-time. When we signed up several years ago it was the only system which tracked print/web/broadcast/socials. Their license with Nexis helps us track global mentions we'd otherwise miss. **What do you dislike about Critical Mention?** OOB reporting is very shallow. We have to export the csv of our daily alerts into a different system to get meaningful data. We no longer use X/Twitter, but CM's roadmap has no plans to include Bsky; instead they want to sell us an additional product to monitor that. Also, it would be great if we could batch upload persistent identifiers (DOIs, etc.) to track in addition to names. **What problems is Critical Mention solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tracking mentions of our brand and staff to better capture our impact across various audiences and platforms helps us apprise stakeholders of the value and reach of our work. ### 7. It is the most comprehensive and user-friendly media monitoring service I've used in my career. The customer service is outstanding. Critical Mention has exceeded my expectations, and I hope to use their service for a long time. I've rebuffed any other services that have tried to pitch me over the years (and there have been plenty). I don't even waste my time taking a meeting, because I couldn't be happier with Critical Mention. **What do you dislike about Critical Mention?** I have not disliked anything at this point. **What problems is Critical Mention solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's comforting to know that I can count on finding an online article, a TV clip, or whatever other media story for which I'm looking whenever I need.
