My favorite feature set within CreateSurvey is its flexible survey creation framework, which lets our team build custom feedback instruments either starting from a blank canvas, using pre-built templates, or ordering fully managed survey design services directly from their team. We run customer experience research, post-purchase feedback collection, and product concept testing surveys for our e-commerce brand, and this platform removes many of the bottlenecks we faced with older survey tools.
The option to build surveys from scratch is the tool I rely on every month. As seen on the new survey setup page, I can pick “I want to create a survey from scratch” to build fully customized question flows for our unique research needs. For example, last quarter we built a multi-page customer journey survey to gather feedback ahead of our product line refresh. I added rating scales, single-select choices, image selection prompts and open-ended text boxes all inside the builder. The drag-and-drop question reordering saves me hours each week, allowing me to quickly restructure the sequence of questions to lower respondent fatigue and boost survey completion rates. We can add branching skip logic so customers only see relevant questions based on their prior answers, which keeps surveys shorter and more focused.
I also use the built-in video lesson library in the top navigation on a regular basis. These short on-demand tutorials help newer team members learn how to set up branching logic, customize branding, and clean response data without lengthy live training sessions. When we needed to build conditional routing for our post-purchase satisfaction survey, one of our junior team members watched a video lesson and configured the rules independently in roughly 30 minutes. This self-service learning resource cuts down our internal training workload significantly.
An unexpected benefit we found is the strong mobile rendering paired with straightforward response analytics. Most of our customers fill out our feedback surveys from their phones right after receiving orders, and CreateSurvey forms load quickly and display cleanly on mobile screens. Once responses begin coming in, the dashboard automatically generates summary charts and raw response tables. We can filter responses by submission date or answer selections, making it simple to spot trends, such as which product features customers are most eager to see in our upcoming releases. We can also export full response datasets with one click.
The platform’s account and subscription controls are another major plus. From the main navigation bar, we can jump to our survey list, profile settings, renewal and upgrade options, support tickets, or video lessons in one click. The dashboard clearly shows our current plan status and upgrade timeline, so we can monitor usage limits and decide when to upgrade to paid features as our survey volume grows.
CreateSurvey also simplifies our US CCPA compliance work. We can insert privacy disclaimers at the start of every survey, and the simple data export function makes fulfilling customer data deletion requests far easier. Before switching to CreateSurvey, our previous survey tool had clunky export workflows that slowed privacy request processing. Now, we can download full survey response records quickly, streamlining our privacy documentation and audit preparation. The platform’s support team is also accessible directly from the top menu, which is helpful when we run into edge cases with complex branching logic on longer market research surveys. The biggest frustrations with CreateSurvey for our e-commerce customer research work are its minimal third-party integrations, limited advanced analytics, rigid branding customization, and weak team permission controls, all of which create manual workarounds and slow down our customer feedback workflows. These flaws do not ruin the core survey building function, but they add consistent overhead for our team, especially when we run large-scale post-purchase surveys and product concept testing.
First, CreateSurvey lacks native API, webhook or Zapier connectors to sync survey responses directly with our e-commerce platform, CRM or data warehouse. Every time a customer submits a survey, we have to manually export CSV files and upload the data into our customer database. Last quarter, we ran a post-purchase survey gathering feedback from over 850 customers. Our team spent nearly three hours manually cleaning, matching, and importing response data into our customer records. This manual transfer creates human error risk; we once accidentally duplicated hundreds of survey entries, which skewed our customer satisfaction analysis. A simple improvement would be adding webhook support to automatically push new survey responses to our CRM or e-commerce system in real time, removing manual file imports entirely.
Second, the reporting and analytics engine is very basic. It can generate simple charts and raw response tables, but it cannot perform cross-tab analysis, segment respondents by customer attributes, or calculate statistical significance. When we tested two product packaging concepts in our survey, we needed to compare preferences across first-time buyers versus repeat customers. CreateSurvey could not filter and compare these groups inside the platform, so we had to export all raw data and run the analysis in a separate spreadsheet. This extra step took our market research specialist over four hours for that campaign. The platform would benefit greatly from built-in cross-tabulation and respondent segmentation tools so we can analyze customer groups without leaving the dashboard.
Third, branding and visual customization options are limited. We can add a logo, but we have minimal control over fonts, button colors, page layout, and custom CSS. When we tried to match our brand styling for a high-priority product launch survey, we could not adjust button styling or header layout, so the survey page looked disjointed from our store website. This inconsistency reduced respondent trust and slightly lowered completion rates. It would help if CreateSurvey expanded theme controls and added custom CSS editing for advanced brand matching.
Team permission management is another notable gap. We cannot create granular role access such as read-only analysts or limited survey editors. All team members we invite receive full edit rights to every survey. Last month, a junior team member accidentally deleted a question block from our active customer satisfaction survey mid-collection, forcing us to rebuild the section and notify respondents of the disruption. Adding tiered user permissions, where stakeholders can only view results without editing surveys, would prevent these costly mistakes.
Finally, compliance auditing features are limited. While we can export response data for CCPA requests, the platform does not maintain a full audit trail of survey edits, who modified questions, or when exports were downloaded. When we needed to compile records for a privacy audit, we had to manually log all changes and exports in a separate spreadsheet. Adding a searchable audit log that captures user edits and data export events would streamline our privacy documentation requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
