**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

We like the fact that it's cloud based, as we moved from server based. It's a lot simpler, not as busy compared to other cloud-based software we have used in the past. Lots of good quality of life features. We really appreciated our implimentation person, the customer support she offered was excellent and while there was a lot of work to do, she was always excellent at communicating and jumping on a call with me when needed. The chat support feature is really wonderful too, all the staff we've worked with through there have been incredibly knowledgable about the software, they're prompt and thorough.. and if they don't know, when they contact their supervisors it is also quick to find an answer.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

We really wish there were more frequent updates for feature requests, as there are cumulatively lots of little things that need to be updated and altered to make the system make more sense.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They help us dramatically cut down on the time we used to spend on our server-based software doing updates and other housekeeping tasks. It has reduced our need for IT support being a monthly thing to just a few times a year. 
Being able to log-in from anywhere means ease of use for at-home visits and after hours catch-up on notes etc.

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

Being cloud based, it's great to be able to access from anywhere.

I love that we can search for clients and pets by any part of their information. It has made it so easy to locate files for pets that have owners with different names or an rx request gets sent to us and the owner's name isn't in our system but we can find them by address.

Antech lab ordering and results integration is great.

Appointment calandar is very user friendly and easy to use.

Live chat has been invaluable when we have questions that pop up that aren't answered in the Knowledge Base.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

Inventory is a nightmare.  If we use lots and get sent something with a closer expiration date than a currently open tray, the software starts pulling from the closer expiration product, which is terrible for vaccines in the event of a reaction we need to report.  

When inputting purchase orders, inactive items pop up as options which slows us down and makes more things to weed through.  Also, being able to see what is on order in inventory management would be great to avoid double ordering. In AviMark, items on a purchase order were bold and blue. 

We don't like that there is no indication from a patient's medical record if items have been posted. In AviMark, things that weren't checked out were bold and blue to easily differentiate charges that have not been posted. 

The worklist needs tweaked to be able to mark tasks as "In Progress" to eaily note if an entry has been seen and is being worked on.

Any changes to any entries should be trackable by staff member's initials.  Again, in avimark you could run a report on changes to any item, patient, task list entry, and client.

When an exam form is added to a medical record, the weight box should be empty. Many times this causes a pet's weight to not be updated because they think they already did it since the number is there.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Pulse, we have much fewer outages, attached documents are easier to open, and being able to have owners sign documents directly in the pet's file has freed up a lot of time that was dedicated to scanning and attaching consent forms.

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

Being an avid Avimark user, Pulse is the enhanced, cloud version of Avimark, with many more features.  Simple to use with great support when needed.  Easy training for new users and transition has been amazing!  The migration steps were very direct and guided which made transition from the old cloud-based system to Pulse super easy.   This software meets our needs better than others we tried.  Support has been fabulous!

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

Sometimes the system can slow down which causes issues.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pulse is much more user friendly than our previous cloud-based software.  In addition, it integrates with everything from our online store to all diagnostic services we use to on-site diagnostics.

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

We upgrading to Pulse from Avimark. The best thing is how user-friendly it is and somewhat intuitive. What does integrate with Pulse does so well. We enjoy the ease of accessiblilty of it as we do utilize a mobile clinic as well. The chat feature with support is a big plus and customer service is always helpful.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

There are certain features that users have been promised that don't seem to be actively being worked on. The integration with Idexx labs is very lacking and this would be my main concern when suggesting Pulse to another practice.

Pulse provides ease of accessibility by being a cloud-based system.

We really like the work flow, the ease of use for the medical system and record keeping. Inventory is very well tracked and easy to recieve in. Customer support has been helpful for the most part.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

The reporting system is very complex and you aren't provided aquequate training on it when you start up. 
Also would be nice if some of the back end practice management practices are shown in the demos as that may help people in their choice.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Capturing missed charges and keeping our front desk from checking out clients that are not marked as complete and ready to go.

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

I do like the way to make appointments and pet information that is displayed easily. Customer help is good unless they just send you articles that are prior to their updates so items are different.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

It does lag at times and I wish it made inventory a little easier as far as getting reports to control COGs, as well when you toggle an item to make it inactive (no longer use at the practice, etc)  it can still be dispensed as a refill instead of an alert telling that item is no longer available. Also, constant changes or lags at times. Also, you can't write notes in pets that are deceased medical records, we usually like to write -condolence card sent or ashes picked up but to this you have to make the pet alive again then  write your note then mark them deceased again.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are trying to solve the issue of allowing medication to be dispensed if it is red (a product we no longer use) and it is refilled. A constant challenge.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

I feel like we were mislead that this program would improve workflow. I thought upon speaking with the salesman that it was much more like Avimark and would have dictation- a service that is only coming to the software soon? I have given it 4 months- hinking we need to get used to the new software, but it is still not any better. The list of this we like about Pulse is much shorter than what we dislike. To name a few things we dislike:
Having to download every document to either view or print- huge time and space waste
Having to sign up for a completely separate service for SMS messages
Having to manually fix all reminders because the data import created a reminder for each instance of whichever service has a reminder
Difficult to find medications that have been prescribed previously, especially if they were purchased online
Having to go to the treatment tab and sometimes having multiple treatment instances open
Length of time it takes in-house lab equipment to receive request from software
Trying to login in when someone's session has expired. Logins are often messed up unless you start from completely logged out.
SEO is awful

Onboarding was fine, but team training was poor. Having a person come and actually show us things in the software would have been much more helpful. We didn't know what questions to ask without knowing what it could and could not do. After complaing to CareVet that we wanted our old software back, we had a meeting with developers to voice our concerns/complaints. I felt like they were acting as though the things we were asking for were impossible. The vets and hospital managers on the call only knew about or were requesting certain features because we had used them before on other PMS, so they are not impossible.

In short, this software has decreased our workflow. We are only continuing to use it because we are contractually obligated and it is cost prohibitive to switch back. The only instance I would recommend this software is if you had never worked with a veterinary PMS and didn't know better.

It creates more problems than it solves

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

We are a fairly new practice, so we were looking for a Practice Management system that wasn't going to break the bank but that also did what we needed it to do. We had originally started with another cloud-based system, but figured out early on that it was not going to meet our needs.  EVet meets our needs and is very easy to use. If you have any questions their techs are right on it, I never need to wait for an answer to a question or a fix to a problem I might have.
Edit - We have been using EVet now for over 2 years and are still completely satisfied. Their customer service is fantastic!

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

I wish there were a few more reports for inventory, some times I have to look at a few places to get all the answers I need.
Edited - 1 year later - EVet has improved many of their reports, making it much easier to control our inventory.

**Recommendations to others considering Covetrus Pulse:**

It is definitely worth giving a try if you are looking for a cloud-based system. Their customer support is top-notch and the system is very easy to use.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we solved and the benefit we realized was the ease of communicating with our clients. You can easily send a text or an email with just one click. Also, we are paper light, so having all of the documents in the patient account, easily accessed is very helpful.

Covetrus categorizes patient medical records making it easy to find necessary documentation.

Coventrus continues to make unnecessary "improvments" that dont seem to align with common office needs. For exampl, they unnecessary updated the task dashboard feature making it more complicated to use.

We are a Walk-In Clinic, there are many features I like with Pulse, way to many to mention here.  But one feature that is very useful within our clinic is the "White Board".  Always know where you patients are within the clinic and what their status is.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

I dislike to lag that can be experienced at times.  Pulse acknowledges the issue and has addressed it.  Recently it does seem to be doing better.  With a Walk-In Clinic the need for the program to be operating at top performance at all times is a must.

I like that Pulse is pretty easy to use, that being said seems to be slowing down.

What I like least about Covetrus Pulse is it does not automatically refresh. When one CSR schedules and there is another one scheduling it can cause issues. We seem to be having more and more issues with Pulse not responding

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

I like the ability to work closely with the Pulse Assistants.  They are very knowledgable, accessable and helpful.  Everyone I have spoken with has been open, friendly and professional.  Easy to intuitively enter information.   Visually easy.   I use the programs daily and am still learning aspects of it and ability to get information.  It is a learning progress, but the company provides a lot of support, which I have found to be very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

Reporting is probably what is most difficult about the program.  Further development and access to data analysis, without having to get out of the report program and cross reference, would be great.  The structure of reporting as well, is not as fluid and insightful as I would want.  But, I am highly focused on data analysis, forecasting and benchmarking.  I would love it Covetrus Pulse provided this type of vision into the system.

Well - I am working on revenue for the last year and getting assistance with ensuring each item I am focusing on is correct.

It is pretty user friendly, there are a lot of easily accessible articles for guidance, the phone support staff team is incredible (friendly, patient, knowledgeable,...).

The reports can be difficult to set up and repeat, difficult to make price changes if not by a set amount accross the board.

There's  too many clicks for everything and every time we suggest a feature to work better they don't do it they just change the color of things or the way they are facing.

I dislike that someone can log out & the next day someone else can sign in but it shows the previous day employee as still logged in. This is an ongoing issue.

We love that it is cloud based and very user friendly.

It is missing some elements that we preferred in a "beefier" software. The reports are probably the most disappointing.

Pulse freezes at 9am and 4pm everyday.  Prescriptions take multiple steps to print a label, there is a prescription number that isn't searchable, we can only view if we look at the prescription label

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

I like that it is easy to schedule appointments and the medical notes are easy to enter. My favorite feature is the covetrus ordering that makes it easy to manage my orders and inventory. I also like that the chat feature helps me get in touch with someone right away if I need help. The support staff has also been super friendly and very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

I dislike the onboarding process. I felt we needed more support with learning the system. Also, our training video that was sent to us did not have the actual screen recording of what was being learned rather it was the person speaking that was recorded instead of the screen to help us see how we are supposed to do certain things.

So far, there is nothing at the moment that is being solved.

We needed to make a jump to a cloud-based PIMS, and Covetrus Pulse checked all the boxes. Fortunately, the implementation was smooth and hassle free. The most appreciated aspect of Covetrus Pulse would be the amazing live support and multiple available channels for getting in contact with a representative. Alongside this, the general ease of use has really helped with our training and onboarding process.

We're in HST timezone and the amazing support isnt 24/7.

It is very easy to learn and use. Being cloud based is a huge advantage. It has most all of the functions we need.

Sometimes it is prone to being glitchy or updates will make something else not work correctly, but problems are usually resolved quickly and it is usually not a major issue.

Accessing data from anywhere, which is huge for having two locations and sharing a client base.

Covetrus makes it easy to schedule appointments quickly and is very user friendly. Their customer service is also very helpful and easy to reach.

The callback task function can be hard to maneuver, especially after the update. There is also an added feature that lets you close tasks but doesn't save them. Unfortunately we learned the hard way.

Covetrus Pulse allows us to keep scheduling, patient files and in house communication all in one place which is helpful. We use it daily.

Covers everything I could think of and when I run into questions or problems support is the best I've seen on ANY SOFTWARE.

Updates have removed patient estimated weight entry at the time of new patient entry so signalment at top of page is corrupted and puts the team at risk on their first view of the patient.  It has also removed the google maps link from the client address page that removes easy access for mobile pratices  teams from working out a days work for the doctors.

Call backs, forward booking, detailed standard medical records, inventory control, client Communicaitons, scheduling, and ability to import and use documents I need and now Covetrus pharmacy that fits my mobile practice quite well.

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

This program provides the user with so many options which really allows you to tailor the system to work the way you want. It is awesome to have a ton of options but sometimes it does become overwhelming and it’s hard to find an option you found before because there is too much. Also I find the options don’t go and do what you ask them to 100% of the time. In those instances, if you have the time, they offer constant live chat help to walk you through how to get done what you need. Or you can call.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

The program is geared towards general practice (which most are) but being a specialist it has taken more work to mold it to the speciality practice setting. 

ESTIMATES AND BILLING. I find these are so important but the set up is so tedious and scattered and it doesn't have to be. Each group of items is split up. So procedures in one place, inventory in another, laboratory in another...why? I want my estimate and bill to be in the order in which each thing was or will be performed and when everything is split into all different categories this is impossible. It also makes it so hard to tell if you left something out. I have to make all the packages ahead of time and it takes me hours because it so had to visualize if you forgot something.  At least if I do it ahead it more likely I got most of the charged in there. Trying to reinvent something that was perfectly fine the way it was before is not necessary. Just put all the charges and estimate line items all together. It will save time, record space and people's sanity!

Mobility. Because it web based it works well for me as I go between a couple general practice locations and will eventually have my own location. 
I do not have any of my own employees so the appoint lent confirmations, emails that can be sent automatically when an appoint is made, etc are helpful since I don't have someone to do that in my practice at this time.

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

There were almost no issues in integrating and implementing this software at our facility.  Almost all client/patient data transferred without issues, however we do not use wellness plans.  
I love the unlimited numbers of employees that can be entered into Pulse.  This is very helpful in an educational facility, as we use a "Learning" site version for the students to access and with which to practice.  We can set the IP features to allow them to access the Learning Site from home, while our separate Clinic Site is limited to on-campus access for students (however veterinarians and instructors can be set to access this from any location).  Students use this software frequently throughout the practical portion of this program.
The Staff Training is fantastic and comprehensive.  Although we don't solely use this for students, as it is necessary to specify what our clinic's invoicing and medical record policies are, it is very useful as a starting point for folks being first introduced to the program.
Overall this is a very intuitive and easy to learn program for end-users and staff.  If unsure of how to accomplish a front-end task, there are very helpful features to guide you.  If the online guides are unable to answer your questions, the customer support is responsive and quick to assist.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

On the downside, some aspects on the back-end of Covetrus Pulse are frustrating.  I wish that the "include inactive" in search functions was either NOT checked on as default, OR the could turn off this default feature.  
Also at this time we are having difficulty with procedure codes (items we want visible) vs. inventory codes (items we do not want to be visible/selected, but to still be incorporated so we can utilize the software for inventory purposes).  This may just be a misunderstanding on our end, but at times things can feel a bit opaque.

As an education facility, having accessible software is hugely important for our students.  Both practical and didacting learning can take place on their own terms.

The appointments page is tough to manuever. The preview bubble over powers the appointments so it's not easy to move appointments forward or back within the day/week. Also, the process from start to finish with billing a patient is not straight forward and we go round in circles.

We have all of our patient records at the tip of our fingers in the field both on the desktop version and on our phones. It is helpful to have all the information when talking to the client.

I love Covetrus Pulse becasue of how easy it is to use and navigate. I have little to no problems in teaching my staff to use it, no matter what age they may be. I have always been able to use the help center with any complications and had an answer to my question in a matter of minutes. I love how many things we are able to intergrate with pulse.

There are not too many things that I dislike about Pulse. It is easy to use and usually has all of the things that I need to succeed in Practice on the daily. I would highly reccomend.

I like that Pulse is "live" and the ease of inputting client and patient information and getting a "real time" picture of the information that is put in. There is far less clicking buttons and changing screens then other PIMS software, and medical records and data are easy to read and view in one place.

I do not like the "packages" and the way they are set up.  Invoicing and reports are also an area of confinement we have seen at our hospital.  I would like to see improvements around reporting and in creating documents that have more freedom besides what is coded into them.

The major issue Pulse has resolved is time management, and taking a huge load off of physical servers and putting things into a more efficient workplace for our entire team.

Very glitchy - searching a patient does not always bring up their name, so have to use extra time to search by client last name instead. The reminder system is full of glitches.  The dates don't always all change when you try to update reminders.  Some other things are tedious as well like having to do several clicks to update a patient.

Provides electronic medical records, invoicing, reports both financial and practice related.  Keeps track of employee hours with time clock.

I appreciate the layout and most of my team particularly like being able to search patients without using full names. The customer support is amazing and they do get back to you immediately when you have a question. I used the live chat almost every day for a while when we first got started.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

Our integration coming from Vetter was not the easiest process in the world. Truthfully, we are still working through various issues that came up during the integration and it unfortunately does not seem like anything EVet?Pulse can solve. Reminders were saved incorrectly, patient accounts were duplicated, previous exams were stored under "Treatments" rather than under "exams", names of attached documents were erased in some accounts so that you don't know what a doc is until you open it. I do wish that EVet had been more transparent about their inability to smoothly integrate from Vetter but we have learned to work with it.

It is not solving anything that our previous software wasn't able to solve, but is overall a good system.

Coming from a paper record system, there are benefits to a paper less system!  All patient info is in one place.  We have had struggles due to lack of training from the start.  I have found the system to be fairly easy yo navigate even without formal training.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

The system does not have a tracking system to detect changes to accounting or medical record history.   Also, any medications that are prepared for clients to pick up, show up as balances due even though the medications are still in our possession.   Sending statements has been a nightmare due to this step of having to determine if there is a actual balance or if there are meds waiting to be picked up.

I have put in a request for the features to be added that I have mentioned however I have no way to know if they are being worked on.

Ability to text, email from Pulse.  Ease for emailing records. Like the confirmation of appointment feature.  Customer service does a good job.

No overtime calculations in Time Clock!!!!!   Can't attach pdf when emailing records.  Can't lock a day when scheduling, makes set up more time consuming.  Can't schedule more than one appointment when patient selected.   Hard to correct mistakes in lab orders.  TIme consuming to correct invoicing mistakes.  Reports features are hard to customize, often leave out client ID.  It's  a growing process to learn the software.  My expectations were different than what was delivered in features.  My job has become more time consuming with this new software.

There is not a way to create a package within a package.
When invoicing inventory, we can't confirm which lot it is pulling.
The report options are not the most user-friendly or provide specific info that I need. It's impossible to get an accurate number of new clients.

Honestly, the training from their service team (our trainer has been Teneisha) has been, hands down, the best part. She is thorough, patient, and will go over things as often as needed for understanding. She's been very hands on and great with updates and what the next steps are. Can't recommend her enough!

It can be a little confusing setting up forms and templates, but isn't terrible - just time consuming. We're switching from ImproMed, which is archaic, so anything is easier than using that.

We're going from a server based system, to a cloud based system - which has huge advantages. We're also hoping that the whiteboard will help ease option will assist with clinic flow.

I find it's easy to use. I know in the practice I work in I think I'm the minority, but honestly, DVMAX that we used before had way to many steps for each task. 19 steps just to check someone in. That is ridiculous. Pulse is so easy. Most things I find are self explanatory after playing around.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

I find the appointments are not clear. Hard to read without hovering over. Prefer larger blocks. I don't like the task board. There needs to be a way for drs to just see messages, approvals, scripts in one column than have it jumbled in with automatic call back reminders. I feel that clogs up the task board too much. We also divide the tasks up so that each dr has an almost even amount of tasks. Now we don't know. There's no easy way to see how much each has. We have to click on each name individually. Not efficient. Being a receptionist, I leave tasks all day.
I don't like how quickly it locks and I have to constantly type in password all day long. I waste so much time on that.
**** also...our vaccination records did not merge!!! This is a HUGE part of my day printing and emailing them and it's so frustrating I have to go into old system, print, and then log in pulse. Wastes too much time.

I think it's saving time with checking in and out. I like the ease of the last 10 or so patients I was working on being accessible from the top of the screen. Anything to make things move faster in this busy practice.

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

It is a really easy program to get used to and great for training new employees. Very responsive to possible recommended updates from users. The live support has generally been extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

Still working out some kinks with integrations. Implementation process could use some refining.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Much more organized, helping us to make a plan for our financial goals

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

I love the chat feature in Covetrus Pulse, and the willingness of the Pulse customer service reps to assist resolving issues that arise in everyday practice management.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

Some of it's limitations, (i.e. inablity to print address labels, make mass changes, excluding fees from prescriptions, custom reporting options, etc.).  These things can be done in Avimark, so not sure why Pulse has not caught up yet.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is much easier to use a cloud based system vs. paper records and/or a system where it can only be accessed from the primary location.  Being able to work on things from home, such as client notes, reporting, etc. is a huge time-saving perk.

**What do you like best about Covetrus Pulse?**

Covetrus Pulse is straightforward and easy to navigate.

Customer service is really fantastic. They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Covetrus Pulse?**

I wish it had more integrations with other online platforms. Also, it is difficult to change inventory/services in bulk. I have to call in and have someone do it for me.

**What problems is Covetrus Pulse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The simplicity makes it easy to learn
