**What do you like best about Cornerstone Performance?**

It's very feature rich and seems capable of handling complex processes. If you're considering implementing this then I highly recommend you have a dedicated admin who can focus purely on maintaining the system.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

I genuinely don't understand how this has such good reviews. The system is incredibly complex and difficult to navigate as an admin. It's simple from an end-user standpoint, but any admin change seems hard to implement and figure out without extensive training.  

The UI is incredibly outdated and awkward to use. The system design seems stuck in the early 2010s and seems mismatched - some areas appear more modern like the screenshots on this site, but others are really basic and old - I've even found standard templates for custom pages on the system that haven't been updated since 2017. Creating a custom page that looks somewhat modern requires some HMTL knowledge, otherwise you need to use the UI page builder which is a nightmare. There's no way to resize the editing window, so you're stuck trying to create and edit a web page using a tiny screen. Previewing the page doesn't seem to work all the time and is just generally awkward to use.

Some basic reports/dashboards are not included as part of the system, so you need to create them yourself from scratch. Even something as basic as seeing how many people have added a goal vs how many haven't was not included when we launched the system. We were simply directed to a community page containing "recommended reports" and were expected to build custom dashboards ourselves for basic reporting requirements. If you have a list of recommended reports then why are they not simply included as templates?

Overall, the system is incredibly powerful but needlessly complicated to implement and manage.

We didn't have a formal performance review progress before this, so in theory it should help with that. However, so far it's just created more work for us.

It is easy for managers and HR to track the progress of their employees ensuring training and performance are tracked all in one place. It is easy to assign and define how to track everything.

It does take a little bit to learn and setup on the admin side of things. Once you get it down though and learn the lingo for creation and set up you are good to go.

We are in the process of switching over fully to this program so we do not have a full understanding of the benefit yet. But we have used a legacy version of cornerstone for performance tracking and it has helped to ensure everyone has their goals set and easily track for performance reviews.

**What do you like best about Cornerstone Performance?**

I enjoy being able to use HTML to further customize instructions. It's very helpful to be able to include different due dates on different steps. I appreciate the ability to set visibility and when stuff becomes visible.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

Everything has to be done on an individual level. If you want calibration to be controlled by a small group, it's really difficult for large companies because if you have a lot of changes, you can't make them in mass. You can only make changes in a report if it's only the overall rating rather than smaller ratings inside sections. Right now we have one person making hundreds of changes. Being able to branch in a performance review would be super helpful so you can give certain folks certain questions.
Reminder emails for feedback would be so helpful.
A draft button for performance reviews would be so helpful when setting up performance review, so you can slowly make a review in multiple sessions rather than one sitting.

It's helping us encourage our employees to be more mindful about their performance throughout the year. Feedback allows them to get more folks thoughts throughout the year. Goals show their progress and encourage success.

You can create any task you need with different sections and assign it to different roles. Also the goals management is very complete with the possibility to see them inside performance tasks.

One you launch a task you can remove it. only hide it. There is no a big problem but in some cases can be a little confuse when you have lots of perfomance tasks.

cornerstone has helped us to unify processes and performance review tasks in one place in order to study talent and potential charts. On the other hand, we started to use the individual and team objectives part and we follow up on the application of them.

There are many things that I like about Cornerstone Performance. What I like best about Performance is how the process flows from employee to manager and still allows for conversations and integrates the Check Ins but the process is completely digital.

Overall, Cornerstone Performance is a great product. If I could improve something it would be making it a little easier for non-admins and tech savvy people to use.

**What do you like best about Cornerstone Performance?**

I love using Cornerstone Performance at my workplace, as it is so easy to use for creating goals, assigning team goals, aligning goals to corporate objectives, and then assessing performance based on those goals.  CSOD gives you options on how you want to assess performance, either via individual goal ratings, averaging goal ratings, or individual performance ratings based on employee or manager input.  There are so many options available to administrators, you can create a performance management program that meets your needs.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

Sometimes there are too many options!  You really need to take advantage of the training fully to understand what the product is able to do for you.  Some of the features are exactly clear as to what they will do in the product, so testing and taking all of the training is about the only way you'll figure it out fully.

I wish there were more features available with showing who created shared goals and informing those who create those of their options once the goal is set. This is a bit vague at the moment and I hope more updates come soon so that it is extremely clear who is responsible for updating goal progress.

Cornerstone Performance helps us combine all of our goal-tracking, performance management, and development planning in one platform, which we can then use the results from one portion to fill the others.  Our employees know that goal planning and performance reviews are tied together in one platform and it helps alleviate confusion on which platform to use for what.  We are able to update the instruction sections appropriately to fit our needs depending on the task at hand, including add deep links to outside platforms like our intranet for more instructions and/or details.

As far as I am aware there is no limit on retention of performance by years.

The only issue I have encountered is that if the user becomes inactive, you cannot view/print any of the past reviews.

I have noticed that if a Performance Review Task has the "Active" box unchecked on the Task Administration page, that record also disappears from the User's Snapshot/Reviews page.

Consistence in ratings. The workflow allows for multiple reviewers and helps to prevent typical rating errors that you see when there is little oversight. Allows for equitable distribution of merit increases based on a universal standard.

**What do you like best about Cornerstone Performance?**

We were able to customize our performance reviews to the exact way that we wanted them to look. Employees can fill out a self-assessment at the same time that a manager can start the review. Managers can look at their direct and indirect reports' information for validity. HR is able to check the performance review and approve it before it is communicated to the employees. The ability to electronically sign for both the employee and manager is also a plus. HR is able to see all the steps as the administrator. We had a cumbersome process before with manual steps. This is a big plus for the efficiency and effectiveness of our organization. Performance reviews are not a fun process, but this takes the pain out of the manual process we had previously.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

Setting up reminders was difficult. If we wanted to send reminders the last 10 days before a deadline, we had to create 10 reminder emails. It would also be nice to set up reminders to be sent on a certain date (2/1/23) instead of saying 10 days before the due date.

**What problems is Cornerstone Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The performance review process we had previously was very manual. Managers had to complete the review in Excel, then email the review to employees. Some employees signed this hard copy, so they had to scan this back into our system so we could store it electronically. Managers can now type in the system; they can have the review seen by both HR and their manager within the system. Managers can complete the performance review; then, the employee can see the review in the system. We were able to take our Excel document and recreate it within Cornerstone since you can customize the questions and process.

Honestly I can't think of much to complain about.  It really works well for us.  I guess the only frustration we've had is that when we change our forms, the information from the last review sometimes doesn't carry forward.

The myriad different functions available within the performance module make it possible to implement basically any solution or process that you want to.  From competencies to goals, it is all poissible!

It can be a little "steppy" to assemble all of the pieces, since many functions cannot be built "inline."  The functions are good, just tedious to create.

The performance forms allow flexibility in the content order and assignment of workflows to support quarterly conversations. We were able to transition to a much simpler approach, with option to include/exclude rating in alignment with business needs.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

We were challenged with the fact that we were rolling out with agile methodology over 12 months.  There are some restrictions on what can be changed as we learn and want to respond to users experiences. Will need to reset on some items with lessons learned as we start new year for 2021 quarterly conversations.

More frequent conversations between managers and employees to improve performance, enhance engagement and support employee-driven development.

All of the ways you can find answers, the system capabilities, and ability to report on the data.

Some of the system capabilities are less than optimal - training evaluations are subpar, and the security settings. They are complicated to assign.

**Recommendations to others considering Cornerstone Performance:**

You should set up your integrations with your other vendors before going live with the product. This product is very robust and can take time to actualize the benefits and capabilities fully.

We had distributed training records in homegrown spreadsheets, and it was challenging to track compliance broadly.

The new Check-Ins tool is great, I like the ease of access to the stated individual goals, development plans, etc. Transparency of the notes captured in 1:1s and on the fly documentation is great.

Some of the ideas we wanted to implement were difficult. To make goals editable the whole system is open to edits for each person vs. just an individual.

We were able to structure a "Balanced Scorecard" goal model that aligned with the business needs and made everyone's focus very clear across the company. Would be better to actually cascade some company scores to groups, but this must be done individually- very time consuming.

**What do you like best about Cornerstone Performance?**

Cornerstone has a lot of features and allows the solution to be adapted to many use cases. We've had good luck with training from the sales team to get started. There's a learning curve, but after an in person training, we felt comfortable setting this up for our organization. Getting the process off of paper, and making it easier too encourage coaching and planning have been excellent use cases for us. Making use of workflows and notifications have made communications with employees much easier.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

It's not perfect out of the box, and really requires full time support to make use of the product. We've also ran into some issues when working with tech support that have left issues to linger longer than we'd like. Managing some items as an admin have been overly complicated as well. Also, if the entire organization doesn't follow the same performance process (for example, we have some classifications of employees that use a different timeline for their cycle) it becomes a bit of a burden to manage--it's possible but not simple to set up. Also a few things like the inability to delete items (and only hide them from view) clogs up the backend.

We were previous using a paper process for performance management, so Cornerstone has been a huge help just by digitizing and optimizing the entire process. The benefits, other than getting off paper, has been the use of workflows to really speed up the approval process, and finalizing plans at the end of the cycle.

I love the fact that we get to go paperless utilizing Cornerstone Performance! We have had Cornerstone Performance since 2011 and going paperless has been an evolutionary process. The system has many ways you can approach performance. I have no doubt that every company can find a  performance solution within the tool. One of the best outcomes  for us is that we have all complete reviews in one area and we can report on it too!

There are so many options on how things could set up and it takes time to test, sometimes the time it takes to get through system testing accurately is a bit long.

**What problems is Cornerstone Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need to send paper around to get reviews done. We have annual reviews and and this year, 2020, we now have quarterly check ins. I wish sometimes when we submit a case to GPS, the wait time was shorter. However, I can say that CSOD is always trying to improve and evolve their support.

**What do you like best about Cornerstone Performance?**

CS Performance has allowed our company to go to a completely electronic performance review system with 5000+ team members in the last 18 months. We were paper based prior to this and this system was very cumbersome and inefficient. CS has allowed a smooth, consistent way to provide feedback through the requirement of documentation for corrective actions and performance reviews.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

The biggest hurdle was building the system that would work for our system and then to get by in from the managers. Once we did this, education and user acceptance was the most difficult, due to the majority of our team members not having access to computers and emails on a daily basis. We are still struggling, but it's getting better.

**What problems is Cornerstone Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As stated, going paper free was HUGE. Consistency across the system is another problem solved. Another benefit is the ease of sharing performance information with departments with transfers.

Intuitive for users to get around and complete.  From a system admin standpoint it also is very easy to navigate.  The fact that they are always looking for innovating and adding new features is great.

Some things have been forgotten in terms of updating (i.e. checklists). I wish they would go back and provide new update versions of fix certain things that are bugs or wishes from the community vs focusing on just trying to do a lot at the same time.

We use performance alongside the LMS mainly for the development of our employees.   By seeing how they are doing from a performance management side we then develop plans for them either for their current job or for new paths they want to take in the company.

I love that I can track performance multiple times a year to truly connect with my employees. Their mindset changes constantly, and engaging with them through this tool is very helpful to keep them happy.  I can see what their wants, needs, and desires are and can help them see the opportunities the may have and can help grow them from those.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

Not so many dislikes and maybe I don't know how to do it yet, but after completing a review I would love to have recommended challenges or trainings or examples on how to further engage. Although we don't have a ton of content in the system yet, maybe this will help drive us in that direction when we get it.

Use this as much as you can, as many times. It may seem like a lot to run performance reviews multiple times a year, but the questions are different and are very helpful.

Being more engaged, connecting better and developing to the new role. Our employees are getting check-ins at 30, 60, 90 days and 6 months and 1 year. Then 2 twice after their first year. We talk about what they have accomplished, what effect that had on the company, what values they exemplify and also where they desire to go and how their manager can help them. We also use the rating which helps us understand how they can improve.

**What do you like best about Cornerstone Performance?**

As an administrator the Cornerstone system is easy to use and very intuitive.  Many of our administrators were able to learn on their own, myself included.  However, if you need training there are so many resources on their site, and training opportunities within the Success Center.  Some of the new offerings like "Learn It Live" are very valuable tools.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

The thing I dislike about Cornerstone is some of the reporting capabilities.  If you are use to a BI tool or sql features, the reporting will not be up to that level (without an additional cost).  While they are trying to better the reporting with Reporting 2.0, there will need to be some additional development with that tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Cornerstone Performance:**

This tool is highly configurable.  Chances are it can replace any process or product you currently have in place.  Give it a shot before you select any other vendor.

**What problems is Cornerstone Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a very large performance offering.  Within this module we do 90 day reviews, 360 reviews, standard reviews.  There are many benefits, but one is being able to quickly access PDF copies of reviews electronically.

We migrated to Cornerstone's performance management tool from a home grown system.  We appreciate the support Cornerstone provides along with the ability for our employees to access their performance information year round.

In addition to performance reviews, we are utilizing compensation management.  The tool is clunky, especially if a leader supports more than one business area / function.

**Recommendations to others considering Cornerstone Performance:**

You will need to understand the level of support required for your organization.  Many activities are now with third parties (e.g., Bluewater) and it can be difficult to work through what is actually needed.

**What problems is Cornerstone Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With our previous home grown tool, individuals only accessed it twice a year, when we pushed it out to them.  With Cornerstone, our employees and leaders can access performance information year round.  It has also given our leadership better insight into what their management teams truly view as successes and issues within the greater team.

The performance review is is easy to use for the end user.  The setup allows everything to be customized for you company.  The goals can be brought into the review making the end user experience easy to complete their review.  The comments left in goals can be easily viewed and so can check-ins.  This make the end user experience even better.

The admin setup is not as user friendly but with the pilot site you can easily test your setup before making it live in production.

Make sure to have your implementation team help you with the initial set up to the fullest extent.

This is the first year I am having employees select goals they entered to be brought into the performance review.  This will be an excellent experience for the employees as they do not have the hassle of starting the self-review from scratch.

When we were going through implementation there was literally never a time we were told "No Cornerstone can't do that."  Everything we needed it to do, could be done and I loved that.

I do think learning the system as a SuperAdmin is challenging, but once you get do learn it, it's manageable.

**What problems is Cornerstone Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our old system made tracking the status of where a person was in the review process impossible to determine.  Our old system had extremely poor reporting capabilities and made managing the review process cumbersome if not impossible.  We also had a terrible time managing manager changes, i.e. if a manager left in the middle of the review process, or if there was a manager change, our old system simply could not handle that issue.  Cornerstone has solved all of these problems for us.  They are no longer issues at all.

**What do you like best about Cornerstone Performance?**

The system can be configured to provide a rating or not. As more and more companies are moving away from performance ratings, this is a great option! What do I like best?
 -  The ability to assign a rating-less task 
 - Specific step due dates with reminder emails
 - The ability to see  previous quarter comments for the year  in a read only field on the review - very handy for employees and managers
 - All fields are reportable, so easy to build reports and dashboards that are step specific by organizational unit

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

Two things:
 - I cannot add a  user back into the task that has dropped out due to a coding error on our end. It seems we should be able to do this instead of calling GPS to have the person and their review progress restored to the task (GPS has always accommodated the requests very quickly, but would be nice to be able to do this myself)
 - The inability to change due dates for individual steps  for all users once the task has been assigned. Currently this has to be done one at a time. This was an issue for us this  past quarter as COVID-19 played havoc with work schedules and arrangements. Instead of manually going into each person, which would have taken many hours, we sent a communication to all that they could complete the task for 15 days after the original due date, and they would still receive the original reminder emails (custom). However, that caused some issue and confusion, particularly for the employee self task that had been set to not allow submissions after the due date -  managers, or me, had to reopen the step for their employees

**What problems is Cornerstone Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used Cornerstone Performance for years and have always found it to meet our needs. Last year, we redesigned our steps to remove the rating and include employee feedback. Employees now start and end the process. This has allowed us to move away from a review process that could cause a lot of angst for all as it was very focused on assessing performance and then assigning a label based on goal progress. It was very much a monologue as employees played no part in the process until the very end. Redesigning the steps has allowed us to move to a system that is a true holistic performance dialogue between employee and direct leader, with employees driving much of the conversation and their own development. 
We can still track completion and have better data regarding employee performance.

I love the annual performance integration with the goal setting is the best.  It made life so much easier when we implemented Cornerstone. It is easy to deploy and the emails are already built in to be triggered when we send out an assignment.  Performance is so versatile and has so many customizable features.  The integration with Learning is a huge help.

We didn't know what we didn't know during implementation, so now we are updating our preferences along the way.  I wish we would have had more input from other users.

It is perfect to use with the Learning Platform.  It is continually updating the technology for better performance.  We have become very dependent on the platform as a whole.

We have been able to streamline our internal Performance Management process Annual Performance Reviews (Rating) + Goal (Rating) = % of compensation/bonus.  I have also utilized it for building our Succession matrix and our top talent pool.

The best part I like is the workflow transition that Cornerstone offers within the performance tool for tasks that allows for a smooth transition between employee and supervisor to help them guide through the performance evaluation process.

I dislike the support that is offered because there have been multiple instances where the global support will not know whats going on or how to fix something but then our project manager does. I think they need better training.

Finally getting away from paper w/ the added ability for real-time reporting of in-/completeness w/o having to wait until each performance cycle is finished to understand where the enterprise is at. Top-down accessibility view across the enterprise. Dashboard reporting for executives.

I would like the module to be more mobile-friendly; however, CSOD has promised a mobile-first re-write of 75% of their pages this year, so I'm confident this is coming.

Would like to see some better, more robust, reporting features added to the Performance Cloud.

Not only have we utilized this feature for our annual performance appraisals, goal planning and mid-year reviews, it has allowed us to deploy forms that needed to be signed during COVID closures. It allowed us to assign and track signatures in the most efficient manner.  Employees had access to the system even while working remotely.

The Performance Suite is a reliable set of rules and best practices. It works super well if your performance and cultural needs are closely aligned with Cornerstone.

This system is not designed to custom fit for small companies. Selling this product to companies without a comp analyst and system admin on staff is borderline negligent.

The performance module is flexible. We implemented the performance module when we where rating employees on a number scale and doing it once a year. Now that we have moved to a year-round performance model the Cornerstone system helped us get their.

As releases and improvements are always around the corner their is some work to be done on the reporting end of performance. Their are something things that are not available for reporting but you can accessing using the API.

I would highly recommend the Performance module. It's fairly easy to set-up and flexible where you can manage goals, feedback, assessments and year-end or all your around performance activities.

Cornerstone and many of their clients, including us. Are and have moved to year-round performance evaluations. Knowing that this is the trend within human resources Cornerstone has already been actively advising clients on how to move to this model using their system. They provide user training in webcast form and live training where this is commonly spoken about.

The one thing that I really enjoy most is the goals section of the performance module. We've found it very easy for our end users to navigate this section, and see the major impact it has on them utilizing it.

**What do you dislike about Cornerstone Performance?**

We wish there was more functionality with some of the feedback options. Although Cornerstone offers some reporting capabilities around the feedback in the system (fast feedback, etc.), they could always build on that.

Make some more enhancements to the performance reporting. That's our biggest and current recommendation!

**What problems is Cornerstone Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we're solving is helping people achieve the professional goals they're looking to hit, as well as providing them with the materials and opportunities to see what else our firm has to offer to them. We're really working on trying to promote internal mobility at our firm, and utilizing the performance module is a big piece for us.
