  ### 1. Powerful Media Monitoring and Reporting with a Great Journalist Database

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

We use the media monitoring function the most, and it is very helpful for daily news monitoring especially with the audience size and article sentiments that are included with each news mention. We also use the reporting function on a monthly basis, and I love that I can set up a dashboard and easily go back to it each month to pull the data I need. The database of journalists and outlet contacts/ information is also VERY helpful for finding outreach targets. Overall, this tool does a lot for me and my team!

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

There are some small glitches and limitations. For example, when searching for an outlet's UVM, there are no commas in the numbers as listed. I know it sounds silly, but it takes me an extra minute to make sure I'm reporting the correct number because I have to parse out if it's in the thousands, millions, etc. I also find it limiting that you can't create a news mentions report outside of the email report function. I would like to be able to create it as a PDF, and I wish the formatting wasn't so set in stone. It would be nice to be able to customize the look and structure of it. We basically have to create our own clips report manually because this platform is lacking in that functionality.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding targeted and relevant media contacts is very difficult without a proper database, so this is very helpful to us. It also makes overall monitoring and reporting so easy with its automations.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I like the mention streams and find the daily alerts very helpful. It monitors data across various platforms and provides detailed insights. The weekly reports look good and aid the client in having better oversight of their brand. I find the media outreach and journalist database helpful as a PR expert, though it's not always up-to-date. The customer service support has been good in my experience, and I like that I can see all mention streams across my entire team. Additionally, the graphs and data overview page is really useful. The mention streams are great.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

The contacts aren't always up to date, which I've frequently run into. It completely misses coverage a lot of the time, and I don't like that the links generated are preceded with Cision, as they don't export to Coverage Book well that way.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CisionOne helps monitor client coverage, create reports, and manage journalist outreach by finding global contacts. I like the mention streams, detailed data monitoring, and the journalist database. It provides good oversight for clients and has useful customer support.

  ### 3. Cision Makes Global Journalist Outreach Easy—Ideal for Niche Media Targeting

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I find the outreach function the most appealing feature as I'm able to identify journalists across multiple countries with ease. We work in a niche sector and Cision has been by the far the best in terms of seeking out specialist publications and media outlets.
I particularly like being able to identify journalists that are talking about a key subject and using this to target new opportunities.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

I sometimes find it difficult to capture all of the coverage and/or filter out irrelevant coverage in the monitoring function. Social Listening has also been difficult to use and the only search I've managed to create involved assistance from the Cision team. This still doesn't really work and misses a lot of mentions.
Outreach searches can also be frustrating at times as some filters seem to cut out a lot more than expected and they can sometimes apply in new searches too. Appreciate that may be user error though!

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CisionOne provides massive time savings and alos provides hugely valuable insights into not only how our clients' brands are performing but also in how they compare to key competitors.
In terms of my day to day, being able to quickly build lists of journalists and then submit directly to them makes huge time savings. Cision's database also seems to be the most comprehensive on the market and I suspect 90% of the media we want to talk too is on the database, meaning I don;t have to spend time adding lots of private contacts from this niche sector.
The ability to track competitors is also extremely valuable and this is enabling us to improve performance for ourselves as well as clients by understanding what they are doing and tracking key trends.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

Cision is overall, extremely, effective in its analytics and overall performance. It picks up mentions pretty seamlessly and provides robust metrics in order to communicate the impact of our work to senior stakeholders. I find the interface intuitive and the support team is responsive, in a sometimes extraordinarily timely fashion. Compared to our previous monitoring provider, it's far more economic.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

There are a few bits of the system that aren't completely intuitive but they're mainly small. Sometimes the content analysis like sentiment tracking can be a bit off and sometimes I find that when coverage is paywalled it's hard to add coverage to your mention streams yourself rather than having to contact the support team.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CisionOne aids us in effectively tracking important topics related to our work. For example, if there are changes in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and that is covered by journalists, it gives us a holistic view as to the impact of the changes and allows us to prepare reactive statements relating to our work. When we were struggling with our previous provider, we simply weren't getting a formal platform, and associated analysis, picking up the scope of our work. We can now effectively communicate the scale and impact of our work.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I really like the breadth of channels that CisionOne covers, as it’s rare that coverage isn’t picked up, even in niche outlets. The reporting functions are also great, allowing us to offer a comprehensive picture of our media ROI to clients. I appreciate the way we can combine instant insights with mention reports to evaluate coverage. The instant insights help us quantify the value of our coverage with metrics like Reach, AVE, and SoV and show the quality of coverage through a list of top outlets and journalists. Additionally, the benchmarking feature is useful for demonstrating month-to-month improvements.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

The way mention streams are structured can make it difficult to compare between clients. Also, the customer service hasn't been great since being transferred to an account manager. He's taken days to reply and hasn't been particularly helpful.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use CisionOne on an almost daily basis to help us keep track of media coverage for clients and evaluate its impact. Its breadth of channel coverage and reporting functions let us offer a comprehensive picture of media ROI. Instant insights quantify our coverage's value, show quality, and benchmark improvements. We find the functionality very strong and seamless: it's easy to use, even for beginners. We don't currently use any integrations with CisionOne, but I have previously used the Google Analytics integration and found it fairly easy to set up - I did run into a few challenges but between the support documentation and the AI support chatbot, I was easily able to overcome these.

  ### 6. Revised Mention Streams Make Media Monitoring Easy

The revised mention streams and the ability to categorize them to focus on capturing various media mentions & topics. The ability to tag mentions is also very helpful when bucketing media mentions into defined buckets.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

When ordering and clipping broadcast mentions the previous generation of Cision would generate a lasting archived web link. Now the links are stored in the media section and found using the tag features. It was easier to have the archived link saved elsewhere for ease of accessing older broadcast media coverage.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves many of the UI and organization issues we had with the previous generation. The new mention streams also categorize multiple mentions under 1 single coverage hit, versus before where each mention would be listed individually, creating a lot of repetitive hits you would have to filter through.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I like how quickly CisionOne lets me build a list and send emails directly through the platform, which is really convenient. The initial setup was also very easy, and it made getting started with the software feel straightforward. I also don't run into too many glitches which is nice compared to other platforms that we've tried.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

I really don’t like how difficult it is to remove people from a list in the CisionOne system compared to the legacy system. On top of that, trying to see who opened an email and read it, and then build or use a list from that information, is not as straight forward. There are a few major differences in the Legacy Platform vs. Cision One, but honestly, it's relatively easy to use and there aren't very many good / comparable options out there.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CisionOne helps send emails to multiple reporters in a specific beat and find profiles and outlet numbers.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

Ease of use compared to competing platforms. The layout is intuitive and everything loads quickly. It takes fewer steps to get to the same result. Cost is high, but less than biggest competitor. Good reporter search functionality.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

It would be nice to have more robust social media reporting, but you can get that if your contract includes Brandwatch. Customer support portal is slow to respond and unhelpful, so I work through my customer success manager usually.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows our organization to receive instant alerts about media mentions and quantify how often people are mentioning us in a given timeframe -- including TV, radio, and podcasts. Keeps our media lists up-to-date so that we don't have to do that manually.

  ### 9. Visually Engaging Insights That Make Media Outreach and Reporting A Breeze

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

All information on the system is presented in a visually engaging, comprehensive way, from clippings to data insights. This means pulling reports and coverage updates is admin-light - I can get what I need, when I need it, and quickly.

Having taken on the outreach element of PR in-house fairly recently, Cision made this process a lot less stressful during a time when I had taken on a lot more responsibility. I particularly love the new feature of suggested journalists to add to media lists, saving you the trouble of having to find them yourself.

I also find the support at Cision fantastic - in particular our account manager, who is always quick to come back to us on any queries we may have, and update us on the latest software enhancements.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

I find it quite difficult to understand the Boolean search aspect of the system. This is more likely user error, but I do feel as if you have to be fairly proficient in code to understand this concept and create search queries for coverage that are more niche/specific. 

For example - it would be beneficial if I had a quick, easy way to pull out how much share of voice our business had for key terms, such as remortgage, first time buyer, etc, that I could present to senior stakeholders. I have tried unsuccessfully to do this several times myself, and I have still yet to get this right. If there is a quick fix to do this, please let me know!

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cision saves significant time trawling the internet for media coverage, and crunching the numbers when it comes to pulling reports. It's also been a great way to deep dive into competitor analysis, as we've been able to refine our PR strategy and enhance our share of voice accordingly. Using this function, in H1 2025, we were able to exceed our competitors' share of voice to become the dominant voice in our industry: 32%, the first time this has been done within the business.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I use CisionOne for client media monitoring and reporting after a PR push. It generally gives me all-in-one access to media hits I garner on behalf of clients, as well as metrics to demonstrate the value we add through PR tactics. I find it generally user-friendly and it's easy to find what I need. The dashboard creation is easy and allows me to come up with data to share. Being able to easily compile reports through the dashboard for clients makes my job quicker and keeps that info at my fingertips. The initial setup was quite simple, and CisionOne's team did a great job helping us get set up.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

Cision seems to struggle with some Canadian media hits. It's been inconsistent with smaller publications but occasionally larger ones like CTV. These should be easily picked up by media monitoring.

CisionOne gives me all-in-one access to media hits and metrics, making it easy to demonstrate PR value. The user-friendly dashboards help compile reports quickly, keeping vital information at my fingertips.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I really appreciate the ability to tag mentions, delete mentions that don't apply to us from our stream, and run dated searches by mentions, tags, and more. I also really appreciate the ability to send media releases and pitches inside Cision One and receive data on open rates. I really enjoy the media database and the ability to look up potential media contacts to reach out to. Overall the package works well.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

One frustration point for me is that part of our organization's name is very common and often filters in other news that I have to manually remove. It would be nice to be able to further filter our searches without risking the loss of actual news coverage. i also wish everything permanently archived, such as news videos that were segments on our organization without having to go in and clip and save them and that our media mentions remained years later, even if the links are no longer valid.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Media monitoring, being aware of regional and national coverage relating to our organization. Additionally, the ability to search a journalist database based on what people cover is fantastic as well as the ability to keep track of media pitches and media releases sent out and their open rates.

There’s so much you can do with the platform that it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. It offers a ton of customization, which is great, but it can also be a little intimidating at first.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This helps us see how our company shows up in the media, which allows us to develop proactive PR plans. It also lets us understand the impact of our proactive media outreach and provides analytics we can share with our marketing and sales teams, as well as with business leaders.

I love that all the media contacts in Cision have opted in so I don't need to worry that there's someone in the database who doesn't actually want to be contacted.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

There are issues with the system clearing my search parameters when I jump between a journalist page and the search results I originally generated. There should be a way that the system opens the journalist pages in a new tab like they do in Muck Rack. It seems like that should be basic functionality.

CisionOne is giving me access to contact information for a ton of journalists which is so important to my pitching activities.

Intuitive, easy-to-use platform that does everything we need it to do. Media monitoring and journalist database rolled into one.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

There are occasional glitches where coverage in certain trade publications isn't flagged in our mention streams, but these are fairly rare.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Media monitoring and journalist database rolled into one. Particularly useful for tracking journalist moves, and finding key media outlets at a local level when we are pushing PR around new store openings. 
Ability to create automated emails rounding up media coverage, which can be sent to executive team. Solves the problem of the PR team having to manually pull together daily roundups.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I like that with CisionOne, we can get as granular or as big picture as we want, thanks to the customization. I appreciate the use of booleans which allows us to create custom regions to see who is mentioning us and where. Setting up CisionOne for social mentions was fairly easy for us, even though we deal with a large number of separate entities.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

The booleans are kind of clunky, it'd be better to have a more streamlined customization process. Also, shared streams are great but we wish we could have shared spaces (like Google Drive folders). It was difficult to input large quantities of mentions because we have 300 separate entities.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use CisionOne to monitor social streams, understand brand reputation, and customize regional insights with booleans for accurate mentions tracking.

There are occasions when some of our coverage hasn't been picked up, however the team at Cision are usually onto this anomalies promptly and can usually ensure it is resolved. It's handy having an Account Manager to go to rather than frustrating customer services as you frequently encounter at other companies.

I really like the instant insights feature in CisionOne. I use it to pull quick insights like AVE and reach to add to my media reports. The initial setup was pretty easy, especially with the help of our account lead, and having prior experience with Cision was beneficial.

Sometimes I find the AVE is not accurate! I get like $6 or $32 AVE for a media hit I know is worth more. I can't, because Cision always tells me that their AVE is pulled from a third party and there is nothing they can do.

What I like most about CisionOne is how much time it saves me. Instead of bouncing between different tools for monitoring, outreach, and reporting, it’s all in one place. That alone makes a big difference in day-to-day work.

I also really appreciate how easy it is to track coverage and pull reports. When you need to quickly show results to a client or your team, the dashboards make it simple and clear. And the media database is solid - it makes finding the right journalists feel less overwhelming.

Overall, it just makes PR work feel more organized and manageable.

If I’m being honest, there are a few things that can be frustrating about CisionOne.

Sometimes the platform can feel a bit overwhelming, especially for new users. There are so many features and filters that it can take time to learn where everything is and how to get the most out of it. The interface isn’t always as intuitive as it could be.

Search results can also require a lot of refining. If your keywords aren’t set up just right, you can end up with irrelevant mentions and spend extra time cleaning things up.

And while the reporting tools are helpful, customizing reports exactly the way you want can sometimes feel limited or a bit clunky.

Overall, it’s a powerful tool - but there’s definitely a learning curve, and it could be smoother in terms of usability and precision.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CisionOne solves the problem of having PR work scattered across multiple tools. Before using a platform like this, it’s easy to lose time switching between media monitoring services, journalist databases, email tools, and reporting spreadsheets. CisionOne brings all of that into one place.

It also solves the visibility problem. It can be hard to know where your brand is being mentioned, how often, and whether the coverage is positive or negative. With real-time monitoring and analytics, you get a clear picture of your media presence and can react quickly if needed.

Another big problem it addresses is proving PR value. Reporting and measuring impact can be time-consuming and sometimes vague. With built-in analytics and shareable reports, it’s much easier to show stakeholders what’s working and demonstrate results.

For me, the biggest benefit is efficiency and clarity. I spend less time chasing information and building reports, and more time focusing on strategy and relationships. It makes PR work feel more organized, measurable, and proactive instead of reactive.

It's mostly that many of the people I work with are not of the technical type, and the platform allows an intuitive nature from a user to take over. The controls and systems rarely need a deep dive explanation, which is a HUGE relief for me. The platform provides a unified front for media and social efforts, allowing brand managers to post their elements and enabling me to approve them before release. I also appreciate the robust media tool that CisionOne offers compared to other platforms. The initial setup of CisionOne was very easy, with no issues other than the expected elements of getting accounts set up or having systems acknowledge email domains.

The only complaint I have is the system is a bit slow in responding when launched from an alert email.

I like how CisionOne allows the customization of the reports we create. This makes our daily work more effective, especially when making specific measurements that we need. Creating and adjusting the reports according to the needs of our routine is what I appreciate the most.

I think that when the platform underwent this upgrade, some things that were very good in the Legacy platform were lost. Like the possibility of more different graphs and an easier way to handle Boolean searches. I feel that sometimes we need to have a very deep knowledge, and we end up relying a lot on our focal point. Moreover, the initial setup was not easy because you still don't have a great expertise in our region, which makes it a bit difficult because of the languages. The platform development team doesn't always listen to all the feedback.

I like the new interface of CisionOne since I used the original Cision and find the new interface to be very user-friendly. I really appreciate the live monitoring feature and the 'list' feature. I also appreciate the function of seeing how many contacts opened or interacted with my press release. The initial setup, especially with the help of our Cision representative, was quite easy. I really like the ability to build lists that utilize the AI-suggested contacts similar to the ones I'm adding when creating the list.

The listening function still picks up mentions that aren't from my area or organization, that I have to manually remove to ensure accuracy.

I like that you can integrate CisionOne with Slack and have the updates come through on Slack. It's just a time saver because I've created a workflow, so the updates come through on Slack and then it's linked to a Google Sheet which automatically updates when I start a workflow.

It doesn't always update Slack, sometimes articles or syndications dont appear. So I do manually go in and check the website as well. I don't know how to niche down our search because we get a lot of coverage come through for our client, Moth, but it will be articles about festivals in America and things like that.

CisionOne saves me time by not having to manually search for news articles. I use keywords to filter specific content, like articles mentioning a client's sustainability status. It integrates with Slack, sending updates and streamlining my workflow with Google Sheets.

I value the sending function, the outreach feature. It allows me to blast out a bunch of emails and hit a bunch of reporters at once.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

The user interface is terrible. Customer service can be challenging. The journalist database is full of garbage contacts and includes publications that have nothing to do with what we're looking for. It doesn't have very good contacts for journalists we actually care about. Searching the database is like something out of the early 2000s.  The initial setup was incredibly difficult, characterized by terrible customer service issues that took months of work to get right. It was basically a textbook case for a disastrous rollout of a new product. The mobile product is not full-featured enough, either.

I use CisionOne for looking up journalists and sending outreach emails to multiple reporters at once, though it doesn't solve these issues very well.

I like the AI chatbot in CisionOne; it's actually pretty good and mostly can solve all my problems with step-by-step guides. I can ask it a specific question, and it gives me a very specific solution and guide on how to do the thing I want to do. It can also tell me if something is possible or not. We switched from Agility to CisionOne because we wanted better pitching capabilities, and that's something CisionOne does better.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

A lot of the contacts I want are not on the platform, which can be frustrating. Also, when I want to import a list, it doesn't let me import it with the outlet name, which is annoying because then I don't know where they work.

CisionOne provides clarity and quick responses when executives need information on journalists' past articles or average users of publications and aids in putting together quick, digestible reports. I really like the reporting and search options and appreciate the data management features. These tools help me make better and more informed decisions, providing accurate information to senior leadership about publications or past coverage of the company. Also, the initial setup was very easy for me, as I was already familiar with the platform.

I like the database and the reporting is good. I think the database could be updated more regularly and their reps/customer service attention has really not been great over the last few years. We didn't even have a rep for several months because of turnover at their company and then had several in a short amount of time.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I really like the instant insights dashboard and the instant insights or launch pad feature for a daily snapshot view. I also appreciate the daily emails and the weekly summary emails. The integration with our website is really helpful as it allows us to track how much coverage impacts our website visits and attention. The account team is really responsive and able to help, particularly in setting new search queries and correcting any errors. CisionOne successfully tracks global mentions and covers a broad range of media including TV and radio, unlike the previous platforms we used.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

I think there's quite a few errors, particularly with broad coverage like TV and radio. It really struggles to pick up various things sometimes, which makes reporting have quite a lot of discrepancy. If we know we're on television and it doesn't appear in CisionOne, it's usually because the AI hasn't picked up the correct naming or branding, which makes it a little bit difficult and slightly annoying. The manual adding of coverage could be improved as it's tricky to update. The new format of the insights dashboards is harder to use compared to what we had before. It might make my job easier if we could revert back to the old format. Also, the inability to store broadcast and radio clips and download them is difficult because we'd like to be able to keep these on file.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CisionOne helps me track global and UK brand mentions, campaigns, messaging, and tone of voice. It tracks media coverage, revealing active journalists and missed opportunities, aiding responsiveness and engagement.

I like the functionality of creating newsletters and automated reports, which allow us to consistently track how certain topics and people are appearing in the news. I also find it helpful how CisionOne lets us identify potential collaborators and people interested in our work.

CisionOne is particularly bad at handling long requests for many searches at once. It's very difficult to track general trends when there are more than 20 searches at the same time, which is a challenge for us because our community has more than 1,000 members. Also, the initial setup was extremely difficult because we had to create many searches by hand, as there was no API or system to do it automatically.

**What problems is CisionOne solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use CisionOne to understand how media is discussing our work and network, identify potential collaborators, and find people interested in our message.

**What do you like best about CisionOne?**

I use CisionOne the most for monitoring media and reports. It helps me create monthly insight reports in minutes, which used to take hours. It's easy to navigate and see media hits for our business school. The instant insight reports are pulled together online or into a PDF for quick sharing. They help me gather data, from coverage by media type to top articles. This helps me know what worked and what didn't, and improve next time. Plus, it's helpful information to share with leadership. I also don't remember any issues with the initial setup, so I consider it easy.

**What do you dislike about CisionOne?**

In the instant insight reports, my logo doesn't show up. Instead, it's an image icon with "logo." I wish the date information in the reports were in U.S. format.

Many of the media contacts are out of date, and it is unclear to me what the process is for getting them updated or how often updates are made. There are contacts in cision that show a reporter at a publication that they have not been at for at least 18 months. I also really dislike that you do not regularly collect cell phone numbers any more.

Cision is helping me find contact information for journalists whom I need for media relations.

I like using CisionOne for Instant Insights, which lets me rank and organize allotted media coverage over specific time periods. It helps me quickly view media coverage of my organization, and it's very useful for comparing metrics and examining the volume of media mentions.

I think it's very disappointing that Instant Insights only allows the top 50 media mentions to be ranked under top articles - it should be more to help sufficiently capture an organization's coverage for extended periods of time. There should be more transparency for why certain journalists/media contacts are missing from the database. Please provide reasons for missing contact information, and please update emails to ensure that planned outreach isn't wasted.

I like that we can tag pieces of coverage and look at the media monitoring board. It helps us work out how many pieces of coverage we get. Tagging pieces of coverage makes it simple to work out for each of our sectors what sort of coverage we are getting. The media monitoring board is super simple to use and is clear, especially with coverage timelines.

We often find missed coverage. I find the search function doesn't really work and I wish the general layout was more simple to use.
