What stands out to me is how I can use ChatGPT as a thinking partner throughout different stages of a design project. I often use it when a brief is unclear, a user flow needs more structure, or I need to evaluate different approaches before moving into Figma. I can explain the problem in my own words, share screenshots or context, and work through the details with follow-up questions.
One example is troubleshooting responsive layouts and Auto Layout in Figma. Rather than just looking for a quick fix, I could explain how the frames, components, and existing interactions were set up and work through the layout issues step by step. I also use it to structure UX research, refine design explanations, prepare project presentations, and understand technical concepts. Being able to move between these tasks in one conversation is particularly valuable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The main limitation is that a well-written answer is not always a correct answer. With design and technical questions, ChatGPT can occasionally suggest a solution that sounds reasonable but does not fully account for the actual Figma setup or project constraints. Sometimes it also needs more context than expected, and a response can become repetitive when a task involves several rounds of refinement.
I have learned to treat its suggestions as a starting point rather than a final decision. I still test design recommendations, verify technical information, and make the final judgement myself. More consistent accuracy and better retention of detailed project constraints would make the experience stronger. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
