"Good value, Limited Features"

What do you like best about Camtasia?

Camtasia is a great platform for quickly recording something on your screen and editing it into a video. It's perfect for tutorial videos and business training. I like how quickly I can get up and running with a project. Record the screen, export to the editor, bing bang boom. The Camtasia editor even serves as a lightweight video editor for non-screen captured stuff to. I use it to edit vlogs for my company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Camtasia?

Having used professional software like Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier, I am a little frustrated by the lack of features and quality of life elements in Camtasia. It's obviously geared more towards editing screen-captured footage rather than footage taken with a camera. For example, it's very hard to make precision edits if you're trying to sync footage to music. The animation options are pretty limited and doing anything beyond simple edits can take some fussy work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Camtasia:

This is for beginner level video editors creating simple projects. If you hire a veteran film editor doing big projects, Camtasia will be too limited for them. However, it's an amazing value for training new people to edit videos and it's perfect for small teams that can't afford a full time videographer. I was able to get up and running quickly and train two other guys to use it basically in an afternoon! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Camtasia solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Camtasia to create software tutorials, video blogs, and short humor videos for internal work purposes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
