The solution helps users organize the chaos of building projects, providing one spot for scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, service, and client communication. Users can manage their projects from anywhere using their computer, tablet or mobile device. The BuildTools app is available for Android and iOS. BuildTools serves as a construction management hub for everyone involved in the project, including project managers, subcontractors, homeowners, architects, and more. BuildTools streamlines communication by offering in-app messaging across all modules and email notifications that sync seamlessly with the system. Key features include live and working schedules, document control, change order and selection management, bid management, photo sharing, and a service module to manage work orders and warranty requests. The system also integrates with QuickBooks Desktop or Online, and Xero to reduce double entries and accounting errors. It took a lot of time to set up and wasn’t very user-friendly. The learning curve is steep, especially for something that ultimately feels like a glorified spreadsheet. I’ll give it this — it’s slightly easier than building a budget from scratch in Excel, but that’s about where the advantages end. **What do you dislike about BuildTools?** One day after my trial ended and I was charged, a broken “undo” function completely wiped out my budget — an entire week of work gone instantly, with no way to recover it. Support admitted there was no safeguard or recovery feature and then hit me with, “If we refunded everyone who had a problem, we’d go out of business.” That told me everything I needed to know. I canceled immediately, but they still charged me the next month. I ended up paying nearly $800 for a tool that failed when it mattered most — and they offered no solution, no refund, and no accountability. I’ve never encountered a company so dismissive-- they had zero intention of making things right, and I was left to pay the price for their lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic human decency. **What problems is BuildTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Honestly, it didn’t solve the problems I bought it for. I signed up to manage construction budgets and streamline project communication. Instead, I lost a full week of work when a broken “undo” function erased my entire budget. The bid management system is bit difficult to use in the beginning especially tracking of the bids. **What problems is BuildTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** It benefits me by letting me see actual cost and budgeted cost. That’s why having functionality that quickly create quotes and gives you the flexibility to customize based on rooms is a requirement. Send professional looking proposals and manage them at each stage so you never lose track. From sending to approval—everything is tracked in one system. But your system can’t stop at just sending a professional proposal. Once it is approved by your client the estimate information should be automatically pushed into the budget. You need a tool that can manage your jobs from quote to warranty all within one system. Communication At the core of every successful construction project is a robust communication platform. Make sure you can capture every email, document, and photo related to your project with seamless connection to all your current client communication tools. Along with central collection of all project management communications, look for a system that allows you to send and receive messages from your current email client and archive all emails and attachments indefinitely. To keep schedules and timelines on track, make sure the software has the option to send and log instant notifications to everyone in a project. It places all the bids at one place which gives you summary of the bids . **What do you dislike about BuildTools?** The purchase Order management is not that seamless as the sometimes the latest budgets do not display and you have to do some manual entry which is annoying.
