"Great study tool with an intuitive spaced repetition system!"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Brainscape?

I’ve been using Brainscape to study, and it’s made a noticeable difference in how fast I retain information. The 1–5 confidence rating system makes spaced repetition effortless—no complicated setups or formulas needed like with other flashcard apps. The interface is clean, syncing across my phone and laptop is seamless, and tracking my overall mastery percentage keeps me motivated. Highly recommended for anyone studying for major exams! What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?

Traditional studying often relies on passive re-reading or highlighted notes, which creates an illusion of competence without building long-term memory. Brainscape forces Active Recall—compelling your brain to retrieve answers from memory before revealing them.

Conventional paper cards or standard digital app shuffles display cards randomly or in sequence. This wastes time re-studying material you already know well while giving insufficient attention to weak areas.

Without timely reinforcement, human memory rapidly decays. Brainscape utilizes a proprietary Confidence-Based Repetition (CBR) algorithm, a variation of spaced repetition. After reviewing a flashcard, you rate your confidence on a scale of 1 to 5. The algorithm then recalculates when to show that card again—frequently for 1s and 2s, and far apart for 4s and 5s Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
