"Clean, Professional Surveys with Powerful Logic and Eloqua-Friendly Insights"
4/5
What do you like best about Block Survey?

What I like best about Block Survey is how it lets me build clean, professional surveys tailored to our civil engineering projects, and it pairs really nicely with Oracle Eloqua, which I use for client outreach at NOVA Engineering. I’m a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, so outside of site investigations and foundation design work, I need to collect feedback from clients and project stakeholders after our geotechnical assessments. Before Block Survey, I used basic survey tools that felt clunky for technical engineering feedback. They didn’t handle complex multi-part questions well, and formatting technical terms or attaching our project reference documents was a hassle.

A concrete example happened after we wrapped up a large commercial site investigation for a regional contractor last quarter. I needed to send out a post-project feedback survey to their engineering and construction teams. I wanted to ask targeted questions about our soil testing deliverables, report clarity, communication timelines, and their overall satisfaction with our geotechnical recommendations. With Block Survey, I built the form with conditional logic. If a respondent marked that our site report was unclear, extra fields popped up so they could specify which sections needed improvement. I was also able to embed small excerpts from our project summary right within the survey, so stakeholders didn’t have to dig up old files to answer the questions.

What stands out to me is how simple it is to organize and review the responses. The dashboard groups answers automatically, and I can filter results by project type, client segment, or service line. This helps me spot recurring feedback quickly, like clients wanting shorter executive summaries in our geotech reports. I can export cleaned survey data and feed those insights into Oracle Eloqua, so I can adjust my future client outreach messaging based directly on what our stakeholders told us.

The platform also works great for internal team surveys too. I use it to gather input from our field crew after site visits, asking about equipment needs, site access challenges, or bottlenecks during field sampling. That feedback helps us refine our site investigation workflows before we kick off new jobs.

For our mid-sized civil engineering firm, Block Survey hits that sweet spot. It doesn’t require advanced technical knowledge to set up complex technical questionnaires. It takes the headache out of gathering structured feedback from clients and our project teams. Instead of spending hours manually compiling survey responses and sorting messy raw feedback, I get actionable insights fast. That leaves me more time to focus on core geotechnical work, coordinating construction projects, and managing client relationships. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Block Survey?

There are some notable limitations with Block Survey that create extra work on our civil engineering projects at NOVA Engineering, especially when I’m trying to sync survey findings over to Oracle Eloqua for client outreach. The biggest frustration I run into is the restrictive file handling for technical attachments. When sending surveys to construction clients and project stakeholders, I often need to embed geotech drawings, soil test tables, or excerpts from site investigation reports within the questionnaire. Block Survey struggles with larger PDF files and high-resolution engineering exhibits. Files either load extremely slowly for respondents, or sometimes won’t render at all, which makes it hard for clients to answer questions referencing those technical documents.

I hit this problem on a commercial foundation project survey last month. I added a few soil laboratory result PDFs directly inside the survey so the client team could reference the data while filling out their post-project feedback. Several of the contractor’s engineers reached out to say the attachments failed to load. Some respondents ended up skipping those sections entirely. I had to send the same PDF files separately through email, then follow up to remind them to go back and finish the survey. This messy workaround ate up a lot of my time that I had reserved for foundation design reviews and site coordination.

The reporting functionality also falls short for our geotechnical work. We need to segment feedback by project category, client type, and service line to spot recurring issues in our site investigation deliverables. The built-in charts are pretty basic, and custom filtering options are limited. I can’t easily create saved views for different project groups. Every time leadership asks for a summary of stakeholder feedback, I must export all raw survey data and clean it up in Excel before I can analyze trends.

I also find the integration connection with Oracle Eloqua inconsistent. My goal was to automatically push survey response tags into Eloqua contact profiles, so I can tailor future outreach based on client feedback. But the sync doesn’t always trigger reliably. Sometimes survey answers don’t populate in Eloqua contact records, so I end up manually copying feedback notes over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
