"There's a lot more to Bitly than shortening links!"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Bitly?

We wanted to stop sharing long, messy URLs in emails, notifications, and different parts of our product. I never expected I'd end up checking its analytics almost every week. The first integration was for a set of automated notifications that included links generated by our own system. They worked, but they didn't look very trustworthy. Integrating the Bitly API was easier than I expected, and within a couple of hours those links were much cleaner and easier to share. The biggest surprise was finding out it addressed problems beyond mere appearances. I could finally see which links people were clicking, where the traffic was coming from, and which ones were barely getting any attention. I've also been using dynamic QR Codes, and they've already saved me from reprinting marketing materials. During one campaign, the landing page changed just a few days before an event. Instead of creating new QR codes and printing everything again, I simply updated the destination and kept using the same printed materials. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bitly?

The free plan is a great place to start, but some of the features I rely on the most, like custom domains, more detailed analytics, and a few management tools, are only available on the higher-tier plans. Once you start depending on those features, upgrading becomes pretty easy to justify. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Bitly solving and how is that benefiting you?

I originally thought Bitly was just a URL shortener, but it's become much more useful than I expected. One feature I've really come to rely on is Weekly Insights. Instead of spending time digging through reports, it gives me a quick overview of what's changing and points out the links that deserve a closer look. I check it pretty regularly because it helps me catch things I probably would've missed otherwise. A good example was when we noticed a new feature wasn't getting as much traffic as we expected. Our first assumption was that something was wrong with the UI, so we spent quite a bit of time reviewing the frontend without finding anything unusual. That's when I started looking at the Bitly links we were sharing through emails, documentation, and in-app messages. It turned out the problem wasn't in the code at all. One of the links was simply placed where almost nobody clicked on it. We moved it, adjusted the wording around it, and within a few days traffic started picking up again. Thank you Miguel for such a detailed review! The QR code story is a perfect example of why Dynamic QR Codes exist, and it's great to hear it saved you from reprinting materials mid-campaign. Really glad the API integration was smoother than expected too. And the Weekly Insights catch you described is exactly the kind of visibility we built it for!

We appreciate the honest note on feature tiers and we'll make sure that feedback reaches our product team. We're thrilled to have you on board and we're here if you ever need anything!
