## Balsamiq Reviews
  ### 1. Fast, Low-Fidelity Wireframes for Better Early Product Conversations

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Depaak R. | Product Manager, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

As a Product Manager, I use Balsamiq primarily during the requirements-gathering and solutioning phase, before designs move into high-fidelity tools. What I appreciate most is how quickly it lets me turn ideas into wireframes without getting distracted by visual perfection.

One of Balsamiq’s biggest strengths is its intentionally low-fidelity approach. When discussing a new feature with stakeholders, developers, or business teams, the focus stays on workflows, user journeys, and functionality rather than colors, typography, or visual design decisions. This has helped our team have more productive conversations early in the product lifecycle.

The learning curve is very small as well. New team members can start creating wireframes in a short amount of time without needing formal training. The drag-and-drop component library is extensive enough to cover most common product scenarios, such as dashboards, onboarding journeys, forms, profile pages, payment screens, and workflow-driven applications.

I also like the interface structure: design elements are easy to access from the top toolbar, while editable properties are available in the right-side panel. This layout makes changes quick and intuitive.
balsamiq is quite good in handling more screen loads on one work space where i have revamped my entire business journey where i have created 30+ screens in one workspace and the space was quite good to handle the load and retain screen sometimes to replicate a smaller action easily.

There is also an image analyzer that tracks unused images across other projects over time and prompts us to decide whether to remove or retain them. The option to restore items from the trash is commendable as well.

Another useful capability is the AI feature that converts screenshots or images into editable wireframe components. And also options to perform more edits with the prompting way. We’ve used this when documenting existing customer journeys and redesigning legacy experiences, and it saves time compared to recreating screens entirely from scratch.

For product teams that need to validate ideas quickly before investing significant design effort, Balsamiq is an excellent starting point.

It also offers a team package for purchasing, where the entire team can access, view, and review other team members’ projects, and it allows people to work at the same time.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

The area where I feel Balsamiq has the biggest opportunity for improvement is AI.

While AI has become a major productivity driver across modern product and design tools, Balsamiq's AI functionality currently feels more focused on converting existing visuals into editable wireframe elements rather than helping generate new ideas.

For example, if I provide a rough concept or business problem, I would expect AI to suggest alternative layouts, UX approaches, onboarding flows, dashboard structures, or feature variations. Currently, the AI assistance feels more like a conversion utility than a design-thinking partner or to provide an UI approach thoughts or UI validating designed screens.

Performance is another area that could be improved. Larger projects sometimes take noticeable time to load, and navigating across multiple projects can become cumbersome when working on several initiatives simultaneously.

I would also love to see split-screen functionality. There are many situations where I need to compare two user journeys, reference another project, or copy design patterns between projects. Today, this requires switching between tabs or windows, which interrupts workflow efficiency.

Collaboration capabilities are good for basic review cycles but could become more seamless for teams working in highly collaborative environments where multiple stakeholders frequently review and iterate on wireframes.

Version comparison and project organization could also be enhanced to support larger product teams managing multiple initiatives at scale.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Balsamiq helps bridge the gap between requirements and design.

In many product discussions, stakeholders struggle to visualize ideas through documentation alone. Before adopting Balsamiq, requirement discussions often resulted in multiple clarification meetings because different teams interpreted requirements differently.

Now, whenever a new feature is proposed, I create a quick wireframe to represent the intended experience. This gives developers, designers, QA teams, and business stakeholders a common visual reference point.

As a result:

Requirement clarity has improved.
Feedback is received much earlier in the lifecycle.
Development rework has reduced.
Stakeholder alignment happens faster.
Product discussions become more outcome-focused.
Journey designing and bring together into thoughtful picture became effective

For example, when designing customer onboarding journeys and dashboard experiences, creating wireframes in Balsamiq allowed us to identify usability concerns before development started, saving both development effort and iteration cycles later.

Overall, it has become an important tool in our product discovery and requirement validation process, providing a visual treat for gathered ideas.

  ### 2. Great Wireframing Tool for Business Analysts

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Teja T. | Senior Business Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq has an excellent user interface that makes it one of the tremendous wireframing tools in the market. The user learning is so fast and seamless, which will positively impact the organisation adoption rate. Quicker and quality wireframes in a lesser timeframe indirectly accelerate the feedback time and development cycle. Offline functionality is always a plus for users to work in offline mode. Reusable components and collaboration across teams/users are always helpful for organizations to review and work together in accomplishing user experience needs.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

The Cloud version of the product is a bit slower and needs performance improvements. The export functionality into various file formats needs to be implemented to benefit the overall developer community.
Shoudl add more search capabilities to search design elements to the overall functionality.

**Recommendations to others considering Balsamiq:**

This tool is best for rapid prototyping and collaboration. Project Managers, Business Analysts, and the product team have great benefits.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Balsamiq regularly to design low to medium-fidelity wireframes based on the gathered requirements. Validate the wireframes with the Product team to create high-fidelity prototypes for developers to work on front-end development.

  ### 3. Best-in class tool for wireframing.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

The ease of use makes this one of the finest tool for wireframing. I liked the number of features and variety of options to create wireframes with ease of implementation.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

This product lacks the use of free hand creation of lines and paths which can make it even more useful. Also it should have an open library search via web.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Balsamiq has been really helpful while creating the wireframes and screens of the idea which would allow the ux designer to have a clear picture of what needs to be designed and shown to the user.

  ### 4. Most entry level wireframing tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammed A. | Business Analyst, Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I like its UI, it's actually very user-friendly and easy to use. even for a person who is writing first time, then also they can easily understand. and all kind of icons will be by default available.
Additionally, we can import images and logos very easily.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

As per my understanding it totally great, but I have one suggestion the Balsamiq group can also provide a painting option and prototying then it will be a next-level product.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can easily prepare application wireframes and also it are easily editable. suppose I want to create a wireframe within a short time, that time balsamiq helped me a lot of time.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Duncan M. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

It's well designed. Very intuitive - I figured it out quiet quickly.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Sometimes I had to look around the icon menus for a while before i could find stuff.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helped me design smarter and communicate with developers better.

  ### 6. An OK tool for collaboration on Mobile/Web wireframes.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Idan K. | Chief Technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

It's pretty easy to start using. Creating the page hierarchy, drag-and-drop components into the view, And defining layouts is excellent for simple wireframes.
Also, Pricing is fair!

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

UI always looked a bit less refined and professional to clients than other tools like axure, etc.
It feels like it's harder to customize the default features and components. it might not be the best tool for a service provider, wanting to present a wireframe with branding orientation.
Last thing that might affect offline users. unlike other apps, balsamiq was web only... it was Okay by me, but might cause some issues when experiencing network issues

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When conversing on system/web/app design, I needed to create wireframes for clients. This was the first tool I received from the company I worked in, and it was fun transforming these ideas into blueprints. Clients could see the exact direction we were going towards with the UX/UI and dev.

  ### 7. Best alternate for pen and paper for your wireframes in digital world

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hiren R. | Senior Business Analyst | Product Owner, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Quick wireframe creation is the best function of Balsamiq. Predefined presets are very much useful for a design requirement. It gives the user an idea of how the screen will look and behave in terms of user experience.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Sometimes we don't find a specific design we have in mind for some inputs, especially the latest design of the input. For example, dropdown which shows in the wireframe is very basic and not able to find any alternate for the same.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I want to convey the design to UI expert, I will use the balsamiq so that UI expert will know my expecations. Also changing the wireframes in balsamiq is very easy, drag and drop, which is helping in accomodating the changes.

  ### 8. Fast lofi wireframes

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq is ideal for anyone who needs to quickly create wireframes for apps without spending too much time learning complex software.

It has a large library of pre-built UI components, making it easy to quickly drag and drop elements into wireframes. It's easy to create projects and link frames together. It can export to stand-alone images or a PDF with clickable hyperlinks.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

It's purposely low fidelity that helps deliver fast conceptual mockups, but occasionally it would be nice to be able to move those wireframes into a higher fidelity rendition.

They've recently announced the Desktop edition will be getting less and less development focus which I understand given usage stats, but I do prefer it for offline work.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's easy to get bogged down in the look and feel of a final design so lofi wireframes are purposely "sketchy" in order to focus on app concepts and usability. Balsamiq fits that need very nicely allowing attention to be given to the conceptual design.

  ### 9. Balsamiq helped me design apps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph G. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

I loved using balsamiq to design prototypes and use it for building app and website designs. I used to for personal and work use and it help me create baseline screens for apps.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

I was not too fond of the learning curve of balsamiq. It took me some time to learn the ins and outs of the product and how to use it from end to end. If I could have had tutorials for the product, that would have helped me onboard.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Balsamiq allowed me to design website and app screens for my work to create a baseline idea of what I wanted to build. Since I was a product manager, this allowed me to showcase ideas without including product design up front.

  ### 10. Balsamiq Tool Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Balsamiq?**

One of the standout features of Balsamiq is its simplicity. The interface is clean and intuitive. The drag-and-drop functionality allows for quick and effortless placement of elements, and the pre-built components library offers a wide range of UI elements to choose from, saving a lot of time and manual effort.

**What do you dislike about Balsamiq?**

Balsamiq's simplicity and focus on low-fidelity wireframes may limit its usefulness for projects requiring high-fidelity visual representation. Other tools do a better job at more intricate designs.

**What problems is Balsamiq solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Drag and drop designs
2. Pre configured components
3. Easy UI to develop quick mockups and wireframes
