What do you like best about AWS IoT?

What I like most about AWS IoT Core is its ability to securely connect millions of IoT devices and process device telemetry in real time, without requiring organizations to manage the underlying messaging infrastructure. It supports industry-standard protocols such as MQTT, HTTP, and WebSockets, and it also provides built-in authentication, authorization, and reliable device communication.

Another strong point is how seamlessly it integrates with the broader AWS ecosystem. That integration makes it straightforward to build end-to-end IoT solutions for monitoring, analytics, automation, and event-driven applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS IoT?

The service includes many components—such as the Rules Engine, Device Shadow, certificates, policies, and MQTT topics—which can make the initial learning curve feel steeper. What problems is AWS IoT solving and how is that benefiting you?

AWS IoT Core addresses the challenge of securely connecting distributed IoT devices, while also supporting real-time data ingestion and automation.

Example:

We connected industrial sensors that continuously published telemetry via MQTT. AWS IoT Core authenticated each device using X.509 certificates, routed messages through IoT Rules, stored telemetry in Amazon S3, triggered Lambda functions for alerts, and streamed operational metrics into analytics services for dashboards and reporting.
