We are so frustrated with the lack of support that we are looking into other providers. I attended the Crush event and spoke with the Global Support Manager. I was astonished his response to my frustration was he could make my problems go away, but it would cost me money....he wanted me to purchase the $15k per year Enterprise support package. When I copied a senior sales manager and the Global Support Manager in a follow-up email stating the problem continues to be unresolved after 3 weeks and the issue is impacting our eCommerce sales, the senior sales manager responded by asking our Account Manager or the GSM to reach out to me about upgrading to the $15k Enterprise support package. Wow...they have no interest in solving my problem, but they are still trying to sell me the $15k Enterprise support package. Extremely dissatisfied with the turnaround time for cases, customer support does not always answer my questions the 1st time. Still having issues with accessing new Registrations. I believe I used to log in with my user name and pw and see the new registrations under tasks, now I need to sign in under AR@telecom-wiring.com, had to change the pw several times and still get the message invalid password. As a result of me not seeing the registrations under my log in we purchased multiple that are just sitting there. Do not have to fill out a return each month/quarterly. We have members everywhere and we are satisfied with the reporting. The blanket codes are great since it is easy to place on the product/item and have it calculate the tax. We love the connector with Netsuite as that is our ERP. Uploading the item and item codes has been grateful for the amount of products we have. Able to perform sales tax reconcilaitions. We love how the transaction do flow through. I use this product daily. **What do you dislike about Avalara?** The support team. The support team is not supportive. They do not research the answer or will give an answer that barely touches the topic. We wish there was an automatic connector from Avalara with Fonteva (Salesforce platform). The support team is contradictory. We understand that the systems to match to communicate. It's not consistent between SalesForce and BroadCastMed. For example, Salesforce does not need an item code and item name and it will respect the taxability. With BCM, it is separate where we need to have item code and item name to calculate the tax for the SST states. Have to always be checking the site due to communication errors with other systems. **What problems is Avalara solving and how is that benefiting you?** Avalara is assisting us reporting and remitting taxes on our behalf. Avalara offers a robust automation solution with full integration into our proprietary billing system. We like the scope of automation and geographical coverage. Avalara also provide vast know-how resources and regular updates on global VAT topics. **What do you dislike about Avalara?** Given the global tax inherent complexity the software interface is not always intuitive to navigate. Occasionally, we have experienced technical issues. In a few instances, these issues were addressed in a longer time than expected; however, they were always resolved before the deadline. The most concerning issues are: 1) No pro-rata billing; if you change volume tiers, you will be charged back for the current subscription period. This is especially terrible practice, if you are a growth company or experience spikes in sales volume. 2) Every interaction with account management leads to a charge, i.e. each issue resolution is at charge, even issues caused by Avalara. 3) Account management did not informed us about planned price hikes (+10% in 2025. We learned just by coincidence. 4) Regular technical problems with updating payment method (eg. credit cards). At some point we had to revert to paying invoices by wire, as the card payments were not functional. 5) We paid for a tax registration, which was not delivered because of obsolete and inaccurate information provided by Avalara. We had to do the registration ourselves and were never refunded. **What problems is Avalara solving and how is that benefiting you?** Avalara resolves the complexity of country specific tax calculations and tax workflows. Initally the sales people over sold us products we did not need costing us thousands. Once we removed all the items that we uneccessarry for a small business, we got the cost down to a reasonable amount. It then ticked over for a few years with no issues. Then there was an upgrade on the Avatax plugin, which resulted in hundreds of extra call being put through from our website to Avalara, even though there was no transaction on the day. We contacted customer service at Avalara to explain the issue, but they were unwilling or unable to fix the issue with the mulitple API calls going through (without any connected transactions). So we disconnected our website from the system. Even though the error was due to their software they have refused to refund the money they automatically took from our account for the duplicate/fake API calls. We are disputing it with them but to date, they simply quote the terms and conditions and refuse to fully investigate the glitch or refund us. **What problems is Avalara solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used the Avatax serive but I would not recommend any small business to use their system. There level of service is awful, they do not actually look into issues of glitches with their product and they automatically take money from your account, which they refuse to return even when they are at fault.
