What I like most about Automate is that it runs locally and belongs to each individual user, which means privacy and no dependence on the cloud. It offers connectors to the most widely used tools, lets you run scripts, and allows workflows to be configured in fine detail. It also works very well with AS/400 terminals, which is not something every RPA tool does well. On the security side, it provides solid mechanisms for running workflows, including the ability to schedule them on machines with no user session logged in, which makes unattended automation practical. The drag-and-drop tools, combined with the ability to write small pieces of code using the built-in functions, greatly expand what you can configure and how precisely you can build an automation. There is a learning curve, especially with the functions and expressions, and some features are less discoverable than I expected. Dataset handling is also limited: there is no built-in find or filter, and sorting is text-based, so ordering numeric values requires workarounds such as zero-padding.
