I think Asta is the most user-friendly scheduling software on the market, while still being a strong scheduling tool that lets me manage a project schedule at the level required by most project contracts. It includes a lot of features that help me tailor a schedule for multiple end users without having to compromise.
Regardless of file size, I’m able to work in the software smoothly, even when I have other software open on my computer at the same time. Our organization has also found that the way the system is set up and priced allows a larger percentage of our team to actively participate with the software.
We’re consistently able to get adequate, fast support from our representative. I also often use the user manual to broaden how we use the software, and when I can’t find something in the manual on my own, I can rely on the AI tool within the manual to help me locate what I’m looking for or answer my questions without having to dig through the manual. As someone who uses both Asta and P6, I occasionally have a hard time keeping some of our more advanced users out of trouble. They can change file settings too easily, and I wish there were more flexibility in the security settings so we could prevent issues before they arise. Too often, someone changes something they weren’t supposed to because they don’t fully understand what they’re changing—they’re just trying to remove whatever is getting in the way of what they want to do.
The other thing I’m not necessarily a fan of is the inconsistency between the pricing models for the cloud-based software versus the version that isn’t connected to the cloud. Based on comparisons, it doesn’t feel as straightforward to move from normal Asta to Vision because of the disconnect in pricing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
