"Rock-Solid Ticket Tracking and Git Repos with Assembla"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Assembla?

We're a team of 6 and have been using Assembla since 2022 for our git repositories and ticket tracking. Before this we used IssueView for tickets, and the move to Assembla was a major improvement.

The tickets themselves are the strongest part for us. You can create custom tracking fields, link tickets to each other, and set up ticket hierarchies, which makes it easy to break bigger work into smaller pieces without losing the connection between them. Being able to link merge requests directly to tickets is a great feature, so the code change and the discussion around it live in the same place. We also use TestRail, and linking test cases and test runs to a ticket keeps QA tied to the work instead of floating off somewhere else.

The kanban view is a great way to keep track of workflows and see where every ticket is in its life cycle at a glance. Custom ticket filters let us track new tickets each week for review and see exactly what work remains for upcoming milestones. While Assembla's rich project management, workflow, and ticket retirement features can take first time managers some time to learn and set up, onboarding for developers is relatively easy and day to day use is simple. In the years we've used it I can't recall a single outage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Assembla?

I wish the ticket description field supported standard markdown. It would also be nice to export tickets as XML or JSON, and to be able to edit comments on tickets after posting them. None of these are dealbreakers, just things that would smooth out day to day use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
