"Game-Changing Scheduling and AI-Powered Customization in Ashby"

What do you like best about Ashby?

I am a team of one at a 140-person agency. I am able to handle all of our recruiting needs for about 20 to 30 roles per year in Ashby.

Ashby is a leader in technology and AI, which simplifies the hiring process while being extremely customizable. I've never been in a system that allows me to streamline and automate my work while also being able to change anything I'd like.

They are constantly rolling out new products that I use every day. They are a leader in AI and understand the needs of recruiting teams very well.

One of the best functions is scheduling. It is game-changing to be able to see the entire interview team's schedule alongside the candidate's availability, and find the best time very intuitively. What do you dislike about Ashby?

There’s not much I dislike about Ashby, but there are three areas that could make it challenging for some hiring teams.

First is implementation and customization. There are so many ways to configure Ashby that it can feel overwhelming, especially for smaller teams or teams that aren’t as technologically advanced. I’d recommend working with Ashby directly, or partnering with a consulting firm, to get everything set up properly, because the initial lift can be pretty heavy.

Second is overengineering. Since everything is highly customizable, there can be multiple paths to accomplish the same thing, and some settings or workflows can feel tucked away in unexpected places. Their knowledge center and admin view are strong, and the search functionality is great, but the overall complexity can still trip up hiring teams—especially those who aren’t in the system very often.

Finally, training can be a hurdle. Ashby has so many functions that it can be a lot for hiring teams that may only hire one role a year. I try to streamline things for lower-lift teams, and there are times when I simply don’t use certain functionality because it’s more effort than it’s worth for those users.

That said, I’d still choose more customization and configuration, even if it comes with a heavier lift. It’s manageable, and the end result is a fantastic product but the complexity is definitely there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Ashby solving and how is that benefiting you?

Ashby is actively working on their AI help bot. Even though it’s still in beta, I’m already getting some really strong answers from it. It’s been especially helpful for training, finding information quickly, and troubleshooting issues that hiring managers might be running into in real time.

As I mentioned earlier, scheduling is both an incredible time-saver and, at times, a tedious headache. That said, their scheduling functionality has dramatically reduced the time I spend on each candidate.

I’m also extremely impressed with their fraud detection. It’s helped us navigate candidates who may be bad actors or simply AI. We’ve also noticed that candidates we do interview who were flagged as fraudsters have, in fact, given us pause. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
