  ### 2. Easy XML writing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nagashree M. | Technical Writer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Arbortext Editor?**

Easier access to multiple PTC softwares like Isodraw, Creoparametric, and very nice syncing between CMS like windchill and offline workspaces. The element tagging is easier than other softwares.

**What do you dislike about Arbortext Editor?**

The compatibility is not good as expected with other softwares like Adobe. Also the syncing is not great even with Trillion docs or Google workspace. UI can be more user friendly.

**What problems is Arbortext Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the issue of typing the elemental tags and tags from DTD. It helps the beginners not to go with by-hearting each tag and typing it each time. Instead, we can simply select from the listed elements, which saves a lot of time.

  ### 3. Ideal document creator for user manuals

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mayur S. | Senior Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Arbortext Editor?**

I like the capability of Arbortext to handle a large number of documents together. Creating DITA Maps and modules with the Arbortext editor is an easy task compared to other DITA-based authoring tools like TIM Infomanager, Framemaker, etc.

**What do you dislike about Arbortext Editor?**

There is not much that I dislike except the user interface. There is a scope to improve the user interface of Arbortext Editor. Also, there are some instances where Arbortext Editor was stopped responding. It mainly happens while checking in or checking out large DITA Maps.

**Recommendations to others considering Arbortext Editor:**

If you want to use a DITA-based XML Authoring tool, then PTC Arbortext is a good option to consider.

**What problems is Arbortext Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were using Arbortext Editor for parts catalog manual creation. A parts catalog is a brochure with spare part information and illustration of mentioned parts. Service advisors can later refer to these documents to suggest accurate part replacements for machines.

  ### 4. Useful, but bad ui

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vishnu H. | Senior Technical Writer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

It is a good tool for starters in DITA and structured documentation.very straight in to work. DTD creation is also simpler. Connectivity to PTC tools like Isodraw and creo is good

**What do you dislike about Arbortext Editor?**

Very soft UI, not enough access to multiple options are lesser. Accessibility to CMS other than PTC is very bad. Customization of DTR is limited in HTML outputs.

**What problems is Arbortext Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was earlier a tough job to write xml documentation in note++, Arbortext made it easier to use tags and multiple views of source documentations are helpful in many ways.

Single-sourcing. While we had to transition to DITA, we were very worried about the learning curve as well as the output as we knew very little about Arbortext.
