**What do you like best about APS?**

What I like best about APS is the reliability and consistency it provides. The platform is intuitive, easy to navigate, and helps streamline daily tasks without a steep learning curve.

What is most helpful about APS is the efficiency it creates. It reduces manual effort, centralizes important information, and gives clear visibility into processes, which saves both time and resources.

The upsides to using APS are improved productivity, better accuracy, and smoother collaboration. Having a dependable system in place means fewer errors, quicker turnaround, and more confidence in the results.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

What I dislike about APS is that some features can feel limited or less customizable. While the core functionality is strong, there are times when more flexibility or advanced options would make it even better.

What is least helpful about APS is the occasional learning curve for new users. It may take some time to get familiar with certain workflows or settings before using them effectively.

The downsides to using APS are mainly related to scalability and integration. As needs grow, it would be helpful if APS connected more seamlessly with other tools or offered more advanced reporting options.

**What do you like best about APS?**

APS is an evolving platform that’s extremely economical for small to midsize businesses. It’s not a flashy platform, but it’s easy to work with and straightforward to use. The newer features that are coming in show a clear desire to keep improving and evolving. The reps are helpful as well.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

For longtime users, the updates and evolutions aren’t always automatically initiated or clearly surfaced. Features like E-Verify integration, background checks, and benefits management are genuinely helpful, but sometimes you have to ask what’s possible, only to realize it’s already available as a built-in feature.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They’re a solid, basic platform with a fairly intuitive structure. They also work well as a dev team, helping to fix problems and kick off new processes when needed.

**What do you like best about APS?**

The customer service from APS is by far the best I have ever received.  When I switched to a new job I convinced my new company to take APS on as our payroll provider.  The individual attention that we received during implementation, along with the continued support we received from our dedicated account team is wonderful.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

One of the downsides of APS is the limited customization of reports.  Many times, the reports I need are a combination of multiple reports that are unable to be merged.

**Recommendations to others considering APS:**

If you are considering APS Payroll Solution I strongly suggest choosing them.  They have met all of our needs, as well as continued to check on our progress in order to determine how they can help us better utilize the system to its full potential.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Onboarding is one of our major challenges and APS has been able to help reduce the number of employees that were overlooked due to the nuances of our company.  We have been able to onboard new staff in a much more efficient and streamlined way than before.

**What do you like best about APS?**

I continue to find the support provided by APS superior to other HRIS platforms I have used. My APS Support team is exceptionally friendly and committed to resolving issues. As a customer, I genuinely feel that my feedback is valued. APS was in the process of updating their website interface, and during early access, customers were invited to review the upcoming features and provide feedback. The initial design was quite bright, which was challenging for me due to light sensitivity. I submitted my feedback with modest expectations, but to my surprise, APS responded promptly with screenshots of proposed changes and sought my input. These adjustments were incorporated into the final design. My HR department, consisting of just myself, played a role in this improvement. At APS, you are not just another customer; you are considered an integral part of the APS team.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

APS reports could use some additional features. There are a lot of standard HR reports that could be added to the reports manager. Reports for discrimination testing for insurance plans, 403b report for audits, the standard HR reports. ASP has the ability to pull the data needed; however, you need to run multiple reports and combine them into an Excel spreadsheet. 
I feel APS has a lot of room to grow with its reporting functionality.

APS makes things more efficient. Giving me more time to work on other projects that need to be completed. APS has made payroll more efficient and less time-consuming

**What do you like best about APS?**

APS offers outstanding customer service. When you sign up, you are assigned a dedicated team of four knowledgeable and helpful members. You can reach out to them by email or phone without any hassle, and you’ll get connected to a real person right away. If your assigned team can’t resolve your issue, they will make sure to direct it to the appropriate person, who will also get back to you promptly.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

One drawback of APS is that I cannot enter foreign addresses for employees who are based in other countries. It would be very useful if this feature were available. I manage a seasonal group that comes in for the summer, and at the end of the year, it becomes quite a hassle to update all the outgoing documentation.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

APS is a user-friendly system that has made processing payroll much simpler and faster for me. The option to recall a payroll batch is truly a game changer. I also appreciate that there is no extra fee for running an unscheduled payroll batch.  The pricing is affordable. Additionally, the ability to customize reports to meet specific needs is very helpful.

**What do you like best about APS?**

It brings our HR, payroll, and time tracking into a single system that we use every day, and the ease of use is great once everyone is onboarded. It has the right number of features to manage the employee data, schedules, and payroll without being too complicated. Implementation needed some support, but the APS team was helpful and responsive throughout every step of the setup. Integration with our existing systems was pretty smooth with the ongoing support and clarification by APS team.

Reporting customization is limited, and some features take time to find. Set up required more help than expected, and occasional system slowdowns can disrupt payroll.

APS is user friendly. I am able to naviagte through the various programs. The payroll process is very user friendly as well. The staff is always available to assist with any questions I have.

Nothing at the moment. I am very pleased with APS. Customer service is top tier!

APS houses employee documents and that saves on our admin time. Also time tracking, applicant tracking. The electronic ease is very helpful.

The availability of customer service when you need them. Follow up on customer support. Ease of use with the platform and ability to add new employees.

Some lack of expertise on tax issues. Not familiar with all local withholdings. I have had a few issues with tax payments not being made timely, but they took care of the fees promptly.

Not having to process payroll in house or handle tax withholding/payments in house. This gives me more time to focus on other things. Employees can make changes.

I like APS because of their excellent customer service and the fact that their tool provides for all of our needs in ministry.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

Some areas of administrative access could be improved. Specifically, it would be better if there were simpler access for changing exempt status for FICA and FIT for exempt employees. Additionally, while the setup was easy initially, there were delays in implementation when schedules changed.

The customer service is good. It is versatile so meets our needs. We do like the system for our mid-size company. We do like the onboarding specifically.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

I am not a big fan of the LMS system. It is a little too simplistic and doesn't do some things that most LMS's do. For example, the tests, it doesn't give the correct answer if you get the answer wrong. 
Also, The recruiting system is a bit clunky. The filtering isn't the best

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

APS is our complete solution regarding HRIS and payroll. It has been helpful to be a total solution source. I would personally use a different LMS if given a choice but would continue using APS in all other capacity.

**What do you like best about APS?**

APS offers a comprehensive platform  for key HR tasks and processes. Whilst at MasterControl, APS was used briefly in the EMEA region but predominantly in the NA region. 
It helped to streamline activities such as benefit enrolment and tracking, payroll services, and time logging. 
The Payroll portion of the APS platform was particularly beneficial in supporting colleagues with logging annual leave requests (or PTO in America), as well as logging any absence days for sickness.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

For the EMEA region, the APS platform did not meet the requirements for long term, successful adoption as most options were more targeted towards an American demographic.
The EMEA team transitioned to Breathe HR whilst American colleagues continued with APS.

**What do you like best about APS?**

Thier customer support is truly one of a kind - their response time is quick and their representatives are very knowledgeable on many topics. Many times we have had to get certain things up and running quickly when a new employee starts or leaves and they have always been available to help guide us, even through the initial set up. They have helped us resolve tax issues that had gone on for months, adjust settings and guide us on what steps to take to do it on our side and have answered compliance questions for us. Overall, they are the biggest selling point. Also, I really appreciate the new user interface, it's easier to use and visually appealing.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

Not as many customizations as other ATS's - certain things need to be done by the support team - like setting up accruals or adding locations, but it's not as big of hassle because they are quick to respond and make changes on our behalf.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We did not have an online ATS or onboarding or Benefits system in place before them - everything was done manually and it was a pain to make sure our processes were followed consistently and we had all the documentation we needed. It significantly reduced the time we take to run these processes and reduced the incidence of human error, and not having everything we need in one place. Also, our old HRIS had terrible customer service and it helps to have APS on top of thier game and not having to follow up on things constantly to get an issue resolved.

I have experienced great satisfaction with APS due to its reliable and efficient payroll system, which has greatly benefited our organization. Setting it up was straightforward and was accompanied by excellent support. The payroll process runs very smoothly, with no issues, highlighting its reliability. The customer service is exceptional, always being prompt and responsive. Their representatives are consistently knowledgeable, professional, and approachable. I also find the reporting capabilities to be highly useful. Furthermore, APS Hire enhances our onboarding process, integrating well into our workflow. I dislike that we have to submit work tickets for changes that we could potentially handle ourselves. It would be more efficient if we could directly make changes to certain system configurations, such as employee deductions or tax reportings, without needing to go through the ticket submission process.

**What do you like best about APS?**

The implementation process was very organized. APS was there to help and guide us through the entire process. 
The system is very user friendly so a few guided tutorials and you are ready to use it.
The system has a number of features that you can use in HR and payroll. It helps with OSHA, benefits, and you can customize things you need. An example of our customization is that we put expiration dates for our truck driver's license and medical cards into the system to help us keep up with them.  We aren't just using this system once a week for payroll. We use it multiple times a day for reports, dates, employee information and more. 
The customer support is great. They always answer questions quickly. They never make you feel like you are asking too many questions or that your question is not important.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

Our only headache is integrating it into our accounting software. It exports a csv file that we can upload into the software so it isn't a hard process. We were just use to a system that the payroll was a part of the accounting software, so APS takes a few more steps for us. This issue is a part of any outside payroll system.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

APS is helping us by taking the tax burden off us. We have added employees in two additional states and we don't have to worry about all the different state filings. W-2's are handled by APS and the 1095 forms are handled by them also.

I appreciate the seamless implementation process of APS, which was accompanied by a lot of hand-holding from their team, ensuring that we could easily navigate the initial steps without any significant challenges. The onboarding feature and integration with APS hire, which includes a built-in third-party background check with Verified First, streamline our hiring processes efficiently. Importing new employees to payroll is flawless, and the system also seamlessly handles benefits administration. The ability for employees to clock in using a mobile device, aided by geofencing to ensure they are on campus, is highly beneficial. They can effortlessly submit issues and time off requests from their phones, making it extremely convenient. The customer service is stellar; the representatives are quick to respond, usually answering calls directly, and promptly returning calls if missed. Their support has been pivotal in tipping the scale in favor of choosing APS over other platforms. Additionally, the pricing is highly competitive, offering the best value in the marketplace compared to similar platforms like Paycom, Paycor, and Paylocity, making it an excellent choice for our needs.

I would like to make the full database available for report writing. Currently, there's a report writer in APS, but only quite a few of the database sections are available to us. I would prefer it be wide open so that we can generate reports on any piece of data that's entered in the system.

The setup process was straightforward and easy to learn, which was a significant initial benefit. Our church transitioned from a smaller company to APS for our HR management and payroll system. I couldn't be happier with the ease of transition, and implementation for our administrative team and overall staff. The ease of use is head and shoulders above our previous software, and if we can't figure something out, our dedicated support team has been able to answer our questions super fast!

I genuinely have not come across a big dislike yet. Perhaps in time, but when I compare APS to our previous software, all I see and experience are positives!

We had major issues with our staff navigating our previous timecard system. **What do you like best about APS?**

The team at APS is the best I have worked with. The staff are knowledgeable, professional, courteous, kind, patient, experienced, diligent, respectful. The software is so easy to use and the time and attendance meets our unique needs far better than what we had before. The support is absolutely the best of all the software we use. We implemented four different software systems this year, and APS was hands-down the best. 

From the very beginning, our sales rep Keegan demonstrated that he listened to our needs and made sure to address everything we wanted in the system. He introduced us to our implementation team and they were amazing. Holly worked so faithfully and patiently through all of the particulars of our needs to make sure we had things set up the way we needed. She had exactly the experience we needed for our particular situation. I think she was hand-picked to address our biggest concern (was that planned?!). She took the time to meet with a high-use manager and ease her fears. She was our primary point person for implementation, but there was a whole team working with her that was wonderful. The implementation software/portal was top notch and far above everything we had experienced with our other implementations. We could see exactly where we were and what needed to be done with regular meetings to keep us on track. Holly made sure we were ready to go live and walked with us through the first several months until we felt like we could take off the training wheels. 

Team 8 and Team 10 have also been amazing post-implementation. When we call, we get a REAL LIVE PERSON, not AI, and they are able to answer our questions quickly and get us going again. When I was on a trip and needed my login to be reset, they let me know how to reach someone after hours if needed. They also always send a follow-up email to confirm what we discussed and keep in regular communication regarding the status of requests. Kristin in team 10 did an amazing job with the team figuring out a modification to the way we had our preschool set up to make it easier for the staff to log hours. Mary and Jamelyn have been a big help in figuring out accruals, and Marivel, Colbi and An have been awesome with providing quick answers to phone call questions. 

The system itself is soooo easy to work with and meets the complexity of our payroll needs. We went live with our teachers this Fall and they found it is much easier than expected and even had some advantages we didn't know we needed. Reporting is great, very easy to pull the information I want, and the staff support with reporting is again top-notch anytime I need help. I also really appreciate that APS is always improving and open to suggestions/requests from end-users.  I have not tried doing any integrations with our other systems, yet, and we don't use expense reimbursement or benefits in APS at this time

**What do you dislike about APS?**

My least favorite is the online help. Maybe I'm just impatient, but I can't ever find what I need, so I just call and I am grateful the team is there!

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our preschool has very complex time & attendance and payroll. APS staff spent ALOT of time with us making sure they understood the needs and working through set up and solutions to make sure the needs were met, and met they were -- beyond what we knew we needed! It has made my job so much easier, improved the accuracy of our payroll, and given the staff transparency in their payroll. We have eliminated the need for a middle person reviewing and the need for payroll to be rekeyed multiple times.

APS has helped us create a positive work environment through the use of the app and direct deposit for reimbursements.  We transitioned to APS less than a year ago and our entire staff has been complimentary of our 
move.  The customer support provided in the transition and implementation was wonderful and helped us tremendously.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

We are still in the process of learning how to effectively build our reports. While navigating the report-building features, customer support has been very responsive and has offered helpful assistance. One improvement I would like to see is the ability to run a prenote "test" for new hires before payroll, so that direct deposit can be activated right away. With our previous provider, this feature was available, which meant we never had to issue paper checks.

APS offers a comprehensive solution that covers timekeeping, PTO tracking, reimbursements, and payroll payments. The app, along with the time card approval feature for managers, gives our team confidence in submitting their hours and ensures employees are paid accurately.

We are a multi campus church where each organization is operating as a stand alone 501(c)3. The APS system allows us to process separate payrolls for each organization yet also enables the ability to combine information in ad hoc reports across all entities. Another plus is the ease & ability to move people from one organization to another.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

There are a few quirks in the benefit plan setups, but the team helped us with some work arounds and there are planned updates in the development. Would like to see the life insurance plan be reconfigured to use drop downs for the the value of insurance selected.

We were able to consolidate multiple systems into one place and have a much simpler administration and processing of all payroll / time card / benefits / etc. including removing the tax filing.

I appreciate the quick response to any issues or questions, as well as the excellent customer service. We use APS for both onboarding and payroll, and I find it very user-friendly. The instructional videos provided are also a great feature, making it easier to find answers when needed.

In APS Payroll, when you make a change to a record, there is no save button—the changes are applied automatically, and you cannot undo them. This means you have to be very careful to avoid making mistakes. Additionally, I find that the benefits section is not as user-friendly as other parts of the system.

I like the ad features like the text to apply feature, the QR code poster, etc.  I also like the onboarding part of APS and how new hires can get sent an email to complete those documents prior to starting.  It makes things easier.

I can't delete employees after 24 hours if they didn't actually start with us but you guys do help me with that if i need it done.  I also can't make someone inactive on the onboarding part of APS if i choose "former" or "current" employee.  It makes me select "never" started with us for it to work.  The employee doesn't get deleted otherwise.

It is helping me get new hire paperwork completed prior to employees coming in, which saves me a lot of time.  It's also helping me keep track of turnover very easily.

The best thing about APS is the customer service!  I was very new to my role and jumped in to APS with no training and they were so great to walk me through everything. They are there at almost ANY time and get back to me promptly.

In July 2024, our company transitioned from our previous payroll provider to Automatic Payroll Systems, Inc. (APS). Our former provider struggled with poor customer service, frequent staff turnover, and system updates that regularly caused other features to break. After a year of attempting to resolve ongoing issues from a flawed implementation, we evaluated several Payroll and HRIS platforms before ultimately selecting APS.

From the initial demo through implementation and go-live, APS took the time to understand our business. They weren’t just focused on selling software—they were focused on building a relationship. Their team made a genuine effort to understand our unique needs and ensure we had the right functionality in place. We had a goal of consolidating multiple systems. APS worked with us patiently as we gradually added features such as APS Hire, Benefits Administration, ACA Hours Tracking, ACA Alerts and Reporting, and COBRA services.

The customer service after go-live has been outstanding. We have a dedicated support team that consistently responds to our tickets and inquiries within two business hours, which is a huge improvement over our previous experience. 

Approximately six months after implementation, we added even more APS services, including Benefits, ACA Alerts and Reporting, Carrier Connection, and COBRA. These additions significantly reduced manual work, minimized errors, and allowed us to consolidate even more systems under one platform. They also consistently add new updates or enhancements to their platform.

I would highly recommend APS to companies looking for more than just a vendor. With APS, you're not just a number—they truly care about their clients and continue to exceed my expectations.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

My company operates multiple locations, and each one must be set up independently within APS. I’d love to see enhanced functionality that supports bulk updates across all company profiles, which would save significant time and effort. Additionally, it would be incredibly helpful if APS allowed for bulk document uploads to employee profiles rather than requiring one-at-a-time submissions. Lastly, having a centralized dashboard to view Event Tracking and Employee Updates across all locations without having to log into APS and then select each company individually would greatly improve usability and efficiency. APS Online is not user-friendly on a mobile device; it would be helpful for admin users on the go to have better access and functionality.

APS is a very friendly and intuitive package but the best thing about their company is the incredible customer service.  You get assigned to a specific team and you know their names and contact information.  It is easy to connect with them when you have an issue and they are very prompt at helping resolve it.  This is incredibly comforting because many times the issues are very time sensitive.  We don't have a lot of issues, but when we do we know they will help us resolve it.

The interface has been vastly improved since we first started using it, but there is still room for further improvement in this area.  The current interface does not in any way diminish the software's capability and the user's ability to navigate.

Ease of use. It's very intuitive. Plus, the setup was not painful like most new setup processes tend to be.  Implementation was easy. 
Very responsive customer service.
This is the first system I've felt comfortable enough to invest the time into integrating our Benefits and Open Enrollment process and other modules. 
We use APS for almost every function, so we use the system all day, every day.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

You have to log in every 5 minutes or so.  I wish we could change that time frame ourselves.

 "Notes" needs to be its own tab on the Employee profile.  When we terminate an employee, there is a place to add notes to elaborate on or add special circumstances. 

I would like to be able to create surveys to send to employees. A short "temp check" survey of our people would be fine.

I was told early on, "If there is a report that is not already pre-built in the Reporting section, or that you can't create on your own, we can build it for you".  I did not find out until just recently that there would be a cost of $150/per hour to build it.   The information pulls from reports already in the system, so I'm not sure why I couldn't just build a custom report and have access to that information to add to the criteria.

I love the ability to text or email all or some of our employees simultaneously. It would be nice if we had the ability to add an attachment to the emails, though.

I would also like the ability to input the data and then add a future date as an effective date  (e.g., wage increases).

I like having all of our programs in one collective resource.  It makes life a lot easier for all of us, including employees out on the floor.

I am at the beginning of my journey with APS, but so far they have been amazing.  The process to learn about and sign on with APS has been extremely smooth and well done.  I worked with Kaylee at the beginning and she was attentive, knowledeable, and extremely helpful as this is my first time working with a big payroll company.  APS was not the cheapest quote I received, but I chose them because of their customer service.  They were definitely better in this area than the other companies I talked with.  Bonus!  They sent our office cookies!

I don't really have any.  If you are a smaller company, their minimum monthly cost is $250.  This could be a problem if you don't have enough people to meet that quota.

The website layout is easy to navigate. Customer service is also very helpful. When I was taking over our payroll duties and had questions, their support team was quick to respond and address any issues I was having. Aps also has everything we need to manage our employees. We can print out all the reports we need directly from their website.

There have been a couple times when I have searched for something and didn't know the correct words to search for the answer I needed. I then just had to reach out to customer support and wait for them to get back with me.

Very clean and organized payroll solution. Everything is in 1 spot, 1 website and you can see anything you need to with regards to payroll. It is easy to add employees, very straight forward. APS also does the 1095's for me, tracks reviews, benefits and accruals.

Uploading documents. I often times want to upload several documents at a time to either the company documents or the employee documents and I wish there was a drag and drop feature. Instead you have to upload 1 document at a time. I dislike that when you put a pay raise in the system it is not automatic, you have to manually change pay raises.

I came from ADP and they had several different sites all with different usernames, with APS everything is centralized.

**What do you like best about APS?**

Customer service is wonderful. All questions or assistance needed is done through the APS portal and assigned to someone instantly. Great communication.

**What do you dislike about APS?**

There is nothing I dislike about APS. We came from Paycom and dealt with horrible customer service and follow up. APS has been wonderful in all aspects.

**What problems is APS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Going to a paperless onboarding system was a goal of our company. APS helped us set this up and their system is a great tool to use to onboard all employees.
