"Reliable, Free OpenJDK with Long-Term Support and Smooth Cross-Platform Performance"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Corretto?

Amazon Corretto really shines when it comes to blending reliability with cost-effectiveness. It’s a free, production-ready version of OpenJDK that offers long-term support and regular security updates, so I don’t have to stress about licensing fees or surprise compatibility problems. Knowing that it’s backed by AWS gives me a solid sense of its stability and future direction. I also love how effortlessly it fits into my existing Java setups—whether I’m using Windows, Linux, or macOS, Corretto performs consistently. This cross-platform reliability, along with timely updates and performance boosts, makes it one of the most trustworthy options for Java workloads, especially in cloud environments. What do you dislike about Amazon Corretto?

Amazon Corretto isn't really the core functionality, but more about the surrounding ecosystem and the support it offers. Sure, Corretto is stable and dependable, but the documentation could definitely use some improvement, especially for teams transitioning from Oracle JDK or other commercial distributions. There just aren't enough detailed migration guides or performance tuning resources available, which often leaves teams to sift through community discussions or the general OpenJDK documentation for answers. Plus, the support channels aren't as robust as what you'd get from commercial JDK vendors, which can lead to longer wait times for resolving complex or enterprise-specific issues. And while Corretto does play nicely with AWS services, it lacks built-in monitoring or optimization tools that would make it easier for enterprises to fine-tune their Java workloads. These shortcomings don't take away from its overall value, but they do point out some areas where Corretto could improve to better meet the needs of larger organizations.
