What problems is Amazon Cloud Directory solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed a way to handle different types of relationships in our app without building everything from scratch. Before Cloud Directory we had a messy setup with multiple databases trying to do the job of a proper directory service. Now we just define the structure once and query it however we need.
