Flexibility to write custom functions as well allows to use database. Can generate the code and customise if required. Provides flexibility to debug while doing the mapping. Most recommended tools for mapping solutions. It also the quickest way to finish mapping when compared to writing our own code or using other tools which are currently available in market. It provides all standard EDI format preloaded with in tools . Hence we do not have to spend time by configuring the EDI file. We as well can configure our own EDI file. **What do you dislike about Altova MapForce?** We do not get much of solutions in internet and mapforce blogs. We have to deep dive in sometimes. And the tools generates code in Java. Once mapping is done, based on the complexity it gets hard for identifying the nodes in the diagram. Has to provide much more ways to solve. Can provide guides using Video format over text. Its more easy for people to follow Video or animation over reading a full page or PDF. The tool as well needs support for character encodings. Sometimes the EDI's may contain native local language keyboard characters and reading those may raise faults. The recommend to make arrangements like tool can also be made available as a online solution. By providing the credentials to license of user, one can login the cloud based solution from anywhere which will improve the productivity of user drastically. **Recommendations to others considering Altova MapForce:** If your mapping solution is complex enough with huge number of fields to map, or if you or your team member who is new for the tool , then i would recommend to purchase product with additional support every year. The does not need highly skilled candidate. Mostly mapped EDI's to XSD's in our organisations. It solved the problem of providing solution quickly . It enabled the team to deliver the solution much quicker and faster ### 3. It is very easy to use and customize as well. No need to write any code. Drag and Drop anyone can understand. Since it is built in java we can write some user-defined functions in java and plug in to this MapForce tool. There are lot of in-built functions. EDI packages also available. **What do you dislike about Altova MapForce?** If we have more number of fields and there is some logic to be applied then the UI screen looks messy. It will be good to have a search button to find out particular function in the large mapping rules. **Recommendations to others considering Altova MapForce:** Easy to integrate . We can use the jar files to integrate. Anyone can start using it .Zero coding. Lot of in-built functionalities. **What problems is Altova MapForce solving and how is that benefiting you?** EDI mapping , Sequential/Sorting logic and uniqueness of the record . We can access to the Database and can import the XML schema. Available complete EDI package and we have FlexText to play with the flat file structure. ### 4. The drag and map functions is the best part of the tool. Talking about how we use it, it makes testing very easy for us as the mapper can access our cross-ref tables also. I have worked on a lot of mapping tools earlier, but never have I came across a tool which can use the cross-ref tables in the desktop testing. One always has to go into a testing environment or production where he/she can actually see the tables working. Another important aspect is the help file. One of the best helps for any tool. It has helped me a lot as well as my customers. The help covers all questions. Making the X12 config files accessible is also an added advantage that Altova has put in. I can create another group of X12 files from these files as per my need. **What do you dislike about Altova MapForce?** The only shortcoming which I found is the aesthetic. The mapping lines in the screen sometimes make it quite confusing to find the source and destination. **Recommendations to others considering Altova MapForce:** You can blindly go for it. I am saying this with an experience of 6+ years in the EDI industry and having worked on several mapping tools. You can be assured ease of mapping and the best help. **What problems is Altova MapForce solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have many customers who are distributors. We have given them Altova Mapforce as an option for mapping apart from our proprietary tool. We have our ERP setup to accept files created from our own tool as well as Mapforce. In recent times I have seen many of our customers migrating from our tool to Altova because of the ease of mapping and the exceptionally well written and maintained help file. ### 5. It identifies error , if we did while mapping..Like , we can't vomit mandatory fields in case of EDI In excel mapping , we can use user friendly column Names and creating columns at the end during the mapping.. **What do you dislike about Altova MapForce?** It identifies error but doesn't describe the error .When I was a beginner, I felt hard to identify it.Now i can easily trace out it. In excel mapping , we can add columns at the mid.If we add a column @ mid , then need to modify all the column number from proceeding column to till last column **What problems is Altova MapForce solving and how is that benefiting you?** In EDI we have so many segments, for date time in BGN we need it to be string but altova supports only so @ that time i need to change it to string in x12.segment ### 7. I can't do more excel files in one bigger java. **Recommendations to others considering Altova MapForce:** Reviewing and easy to do again. Sometimes making changes is more difficult than do again. **What problems is Altova MapForce solving and how is that benefiting you?** Schema was changing every 2,3 years. Not all rows included in output and not all colums included etc. No head rows, no summary rows and no sumarry columns, use 2, 3, 5,6,7 rows(because row 4 is sum of 2 and 3) with node names 101,102,5,6,7! It was much easier connect input to output and evaluate correctness. ### 8.
