I like that ActiveBatch brings scheduling, monitoring, and alerting into one console, making it easier to see when a chain breaks without logging into multiple servers. It significantly reduced the questions about stale data I have to answer, and the file transfer functionality has replaced unreliable shell scripts. I appreciate its dependency handling feature, which prevents downstream processes from running out of sequence due to upstream delays. Now and again an agent needs restarting for no obvious reason, tolerable but not ideal. The interface shows its age too and would benefit from modernizing. Configuring certain job dependencies took me longer to work out than I expected, and the documentation was thinner on that point than I would have liked. Specifically, the conditional and cross-plan dependencies gave me the most trouble, particularly triggering a job only when several upstream plans had completed with specific exit conditions. The documentation would be far more useful with worked examples of these multi-branch scenarios rather than field-by-field descriptions that leave you to infer how the pieces fit together.
