Trellian was the first easy to use FTP client I discovered when I began downloading "shareware: and beta software, and it's become a permanent part of my "IT Toolbox". It's clean user interface with drag-n-drop enabled makes this very easy to use. Though easy to use, Trellian has continuously updated their product adding more sophisticated features as reviving a lost connection, being able to download from multiple servers, file comparison (handy when updating a website), and one of the biggest lists of public FTP sites continuously updated. I've tried competitive products but have always returned to Trellian.
