Great software, difficult commercial agreements for small to mid sized development firms
The software is great; it's robust, fast, easy to integrate, and provides a rich set of APIs and configuration options. Having worked with a number of visual editor / rich text editing platforms, I can reliably report that TinyMCE is a candidate for "best in class" in terms of features, ease of use, ease of development/integration, and number of features.

TinyMCE: Still Batting 1000
I began using TinyMCE with WordPress almost 20 years ago. It is extremely versatile and very customizable. New buttons are easy to program; and even easier to include in the UI. It is fast, accurate and very efficient. Community and paid addons exist; and the use-cases are endless. I have used a lighter version in many projects since I was first introduced to TinyMCE.

It's been a great tool, especially the self hosted editing, to just get an editor in there. As we moved to the Pro version, we were able to open up some great features, like power-paste and AI.
