OpenFoam is a great tool for scientific research

I have been using openfoam for many years. It is great that I can easily develop and test new solvers and physical models. The parallel capability is also great for running research level problems that may need large resources.

What is OpenFOAM Project?

OpenFOAM (Open Field Operation and Manipulation) is a free, open source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software package, primarily designed for the modeling and simulation of fluid flow, chemical reactions, heat transfer, and associated processes. It is widely used across industries including automotive, aerospace, and process engineering. OpenFOAM offers a vast library of solvers and utilities for pre-processing, mesh generation, and data analysis, making it highly adaptable for complex simulations. The software operates on Linux and is developed and maintained by the OpenFOAM Foundation, which ensures it remains open source and freely available.
