The Penetration Testing with Kali Linux (PWK/PEN-200) online ethical hacking course is self-paced. It introduces penetration testing tools and techniques via hands-on experience. PEN-200 trains not only the skills, but also the mindset required to be a successful penetration tester. Students who complete the course and pass the exam earn the Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification. This course features five recently retired OSCP exam machines now added to the PWK labs. These five machines represent an entire OSCP exam room.

Powerful for Security Testing

I have been using Kali Linux as a primary platform for testing the security of Android applications, and overall, it has proven to be a highly capable and flexible environment for this purpose. I appreciate the real-world testing power—it allows me to simulate scenarios and see how systems behave under pressure, making it far more engaging and useful than purely theoretical learning. There's also the flexibility of Kali Linux, as it can be heavily customized whether I'm working on Android apps, networks, or web systems. I can shape the environment to match exactly what I'm trying to test. The initial setup was very easy; I just downloaded and installed it in Hyper-V or another VM environment, or used it through live boot.

Robust Pentesting Tools with Easy Setup

I appreciate that Kali Linux provides a lot of tools and commands needed for pentesting. I really like its terminal and I frequently use the terminal and tmux a lot. I also like that the base is light because a lot of UI software is not shipped, which makes it pretty easy to set up.

Beginner-Friendly Linux with a User-Friendly GUI

I really appreciate that Kali Linux is beginners friendly with its GUI-based Linux. It's easy to run on VMS and stable. Coming from a Windows OS background, which is heavily GUI-based, directly switching to Linux distros can be challenging, but Kali Linux resolved this by providing a user-friendly GUI while maintaining the power of Linux. Its GUI-based interface gives the vibe of a Linux OS, making the transition smoother for someone like me.
