What I like most about ODK is how easy it is to learn and start using. There are many helpful resources available, so you can quickly pick it up and become comfortable building forms and workflows. It works offline, which is essential for field settings, and it’s widely used, so there’s a strong community and good support.
Even without using its more advanced features, the core functionality has been incredibly valuable. The built-in quality control checks we can embed in surveys have significantly improved data integrity and consistency.
We also regularly use the QR code scanning feature to efficiently capture lab sample IDs and other identifiers, reducing errors and saving time.
Because it’s so user-friendly, our partners are also more willing to learn it and use it consistently. ODK has made the transition from paper-based to electronic data collection smooth and practical for our teams. Overall, it’s a reliable, flexible tool that has strengthened our data collection processes.
ODK is a very flexible open-source solution to enable community-based surveys in remote or bandwidth-limited regions. The ever-improving platform comes with many very useful features for auditing, change tracking within submissions, API integration for constructing data integrated AI-enabled dashboards to highlight analysis of collected data in near real-time. The native user interface offered in the subscription service provides a solid foundation to navigate and review submissions to ensure data quality on the project admin side, and allows flagging for follow up review and rejection of submissions, which is also API integrable to external applications for expanded automated data quality flagging and management. Over the past 10 months as a subscription base member, our project has had zero access issues and zero downtime. Tech support has been very prompt to respond to questions and helpful to troubleshoot ODK use. Excellent value!
