Our software company offers both a CRM and billing system and routinely needs to migrate paid subscribers from other platforms onto our software. Like many companies, we previously shared a templated CSV file that customers could complete in order to import their data into our software. No matter how prescriptive we were, there was always a string of data related issues that would make this a challenge—data could easily be corrupted based on whether the file was opened on a Mac vs. a PC, checklist and radio list properties required special formatting, users might store dates in European formats, and then there were differences in encoding (ASCII, UTF-8, etc) that frankly were completely foreign to most of our customers and could impact whether their import was successful or not. It's a big, meaty, unglamorous problem—and one that Flatfile solved for us almost overnight. Implementation was easy and now our customers have an intuitive interface that they can use to map their data appropriately prior to import. Most importantly import errors as a result of data formatting issues have been entirely solved. Highly recommend.
