What I like most about Figma is the product as a whole, from Figma Design and FigJam to the newer Figma AI (Make). I was an early user back when there was only “Figma Design,” so it’s been great to see how much it has expanded. Another thing I really appreciate is its community and the support for custom plugins that can help me integrates a lot of other software to Figma. It feels very “plug and go,” so I can simply choose which plugins I want to use depending on what I need. UI/UX-wise, Figma is minimalist, clean, and not cluttered. It’s also very easy for beginners to learn, especially for anyone switching over from other design tools like Adobe XD, Canva, etc. Figma has also been really helpful to me because it was an early adopter of “real-time collaboration” in free design software, which is a really good deal. The collaboration experience feels seamless, and overall performance is solid. Lastly, Figma has great support for students through their “Education Plan.” It’s genuinely worth it, and the fact that they offer it for free makes it an even better deal.

It has strong capabilities and real potential to cover a wider range of use cases and meet the needs of different types of users. Its price is very competitive. 3 specific things stand out for me after many years of daily use: Variables and component properties. We do complex SaaS products and software design: fintech dashboards, healthcare platforms, enterprise tools. These demand a single button component that works seamlessly across a main platform, a patient portal, and an admin dashboard. Variables let us manage this flexibility without component bloat. Branching. When designing in phases for active products, we often explore multiple directions simultaneously. Branching allows us to do this securely, without copy-pasting files or losing version history. Dev Mode. Engineering teams use this to pull spacing values, color tokens, and code snippets directly, which cuts the spec documentation time roughly in half.
