I use Epubor for helping me use the books I bought through Amazon freely and actually own them. It helps me get free of Amazon's continuous efforts to limit how I use what I own and paid for. I find it to be the most reliable way to de-DRM books consistently. The initial setup was relatively easy, and the main problem I faced was Kindle crashing often, but Epubor itself doesn't crash.
