**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

It is best suitable for analytics and Big Data. I could process million of rows on real time basis.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

It is not flexible with Cloud-native platforms. It doesn't provide scalability to greater extent.

**Recommendations to others considering Rocket Vertica:**

It is best tool for data warehousing and solving Big Data solutions. Also, It provides fastest ETL transactions and on-time data delivery.

Vertica is solving all my ETL problems and providing better Data warehousing solutions. Also, It is helping my organisation to store larger amount of data.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

OpenText Vertica is flexible to do multiple tasks at a time and handles heavy loads of data processing with complex queries. The data lakes integrates multiple data sources enhancing the data analytics. The facility to add more clusters helps in handling huge tasks, better suits for large organizations.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

Implementing and integrating OpenText Vertica is quite complex. It requires good level of knowledge to work on tasks. Expensive in maintaining the system infrastructure hence doesn't fit for small businesses. The training documents and customer support could have been better.

**What problems is Rocket Vertica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenText Vertica is very much helpful in building OLAP systems and data warehousing. Works efficiently in processing complex data with better data analytics. Improving the analytical capabilities and machine learning can extract valuable insights from large datasets. Bringing in more subscription plans with useful features covered in basic plans can benefit the users.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

The vertica datawarehouse offers columnar store database structure capable of handling big data workloads unlike other traditional databases. This architecture coupled with other efficient parallel processing techniques allows for exceptional performance when resolving complex OLAP problems and rightly so that is their USP. This comes in handy especially when you deal with near real-time stream workloads usecases. Lastly, they have launched VerticaPylab which is a great addition for empowering ML based solutions Also, integration to reporting services such as Tableau are easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

In contrast to alternative tools in market, they have significantly smaller userbase and hence getting help from online community for issues can be challenging. After their acquisition from Micro Focus to Opentext, there have been few changes in layout in documentation as well as layout of UI, which creates additional learning curve. After a certain threshold (of datasize), the operational costs drastically increase which sometimes is not justifiable.

**What problems is Rocket Vertica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The goal was to explore the capabilities of datawarehouse and find its place in the big list of other established datawarehouse solutions in the market. Specifically for catering the reporting dashboard department and its data requirements. In contrast to other datawarehouses, we found that integration to reporting services such as Tableau are highly reliable even for large datasets.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

The flexibility and cost-efficiency of a data lake with the contextual and high-speed querying capabilities of a data warehouse. Resharding the database as needed Rollback snapshots.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

No dislike. But to learn this new kind "Lakehouse" takes a little more time for a "traditional" DBA

**What problems is Rocket Vertica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our traditional Data Warehouse always have had performance issue due to the over large size. Plus, the new un-structured feature added in, making it very difficult to processing on a lot of things (including daily ETL). We are trying to engage a lot of new tools on the market, OpenText Vertica, the Datalake seems like resolves some of our problems. We are still on exploring new features...

What I like best about it is that this platform offers a wide range of built-in analytical functions. It provides comprehensive security features. It is very easy to use and highly scalable. It is also known for its exceptional performance. It handles complex analytical queries on large datasets.

What I dislike about OpenText Vertica is that it can be high cost for large-scale deployments or organizations with extensive data needs. It is complex to set up and configure, especially for those users who are not familiar with columnar databases.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

* Vertica is very fast. It works seamlessly with very large amounts of data, and it compresses the data very well.
* Vertica offers powerful built-in analytical tools for complex data analysis. I have used this tool for marketing analysis.
* It is very easy to scale; we needed to scale up the nodes, and it was done easily.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

* For those who are not familiar with terminal usage, its GUI feels outdated.
* Vertica struggles with petabyte-scale data, facing scalability challenges.
* It is a bit expensive for large data.

Vertica is crucial for analyzing vast data volumes across business contexts. I have used it for internal data analysis, marketing outcomes, and creating data marts for organizational insights. It efficiently handles large data ingestion, enhancing productivity.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

It is extremely fast compared to other databases, perhaps due to the columnar database structure. It can be deployed on almost all cloud platforms as well as on mainframes. The likelihood of multiple node failure is very low.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

The documentation is not comprehensive and could be improved. The SaaS solution is only available on AWS and not for Azure and GCP.

**What problems is Rocket Vertica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most important issue these days is hosting and analyzing trillions of data, especially in analytical companies. Vertica is an extremely useful and affordable database, making query processing much faster than most other databases.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

On behalf of various data engineers I can say that opentext vertics is a solution for datawarehousing and running analysis on huge datasets with productivity and speed. All and all this comes up as a effective solution to quickly get results with respect to thousands of rows of data.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

While it is suitable for your entire data (lake) this is a complex solution to analyze small data sets and the results might not be satisfactory.

Running analysis, predictive, and other modelling using huge or in casis entire data sets.

OpenText has a lot of features to explore and it sometimes lags while importing huge data sets. Also, the price point is a bit on the higher side

I love mostly about its scaling part and peak performance. This product provides both multi cloud and hybrid cloud as well. And it's unified interface and easiness to use.

Using open text vertica is amazing only for its one unique feature called Workload routing.

Restore points is a very good feature but a little complex to use.

-The configuration on first implementation is easy and through the data analysis features, creating real time data analytics and migration of various data securely with the solution is more reliable and i love the Automation ability on this tool.

That it has a broad set of analytical functions which reduces the operations part. Also, due to those features, it is very easy to implement and integrate into the business.

The best thing about opentect vertica is that it provides great insight towards technology and solutions.

It is fast and a better platform for data engineers. This has multi cloud as well as hybrid cloud. It is flexible and a cost efficient tool.

It is not useful to process small scale data and the results with small data would not be accurate/correct.

The best thing about OpenText Vertica is its ability to update its database in real time. The speed and accuracy of the software is just exceptional.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

Sometimes, it is difficult to delete/remove entries from the database.

**What problems is Rocket Vertica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use OpenText Vertica to leverage and maintain our tremendous database, and using ML techniques to make forecasts on future policy changes, product launches etc.

I personally like the flexibility of Vertica's projections of tables. It allows us to modify primary projection without altering the tables.

I think the database setup is quite simple but the documentation could be improved a little bit. For example, if 3 nodes are running and 1 node is down, the other two nodes don't scale up.

As a big data Engineer, this platform is more useful for analytics on huge data platforms. It provides business insights more accurately compared to other data warehouses. It's easy to work on all the major clouds and offers more advantages in machine learning analysis.

Vertica offers you a very good set of tools to perform analysis on the data. The processing power and the flexibility is one of the major points why Vertica is best in class.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

Historically Vertica has been supported in Enterprise mode, which comes with a lot of limitations. This is being fixed with the introduction of EON mode on public cloud and private infrastructure but the change has been slow. Although we are getting there.

Ingest and analyze large amounts of data. Interface with BI tools to create visualizations of the data and show the value of the solution offered by my company to our customers.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

Can perform any type of analytics, in our use-case we use Time Series, Pattern Matching by ingesting data gathering from different data sources available performing parallel processing within a short span of time as it is quick. Either get the work done on-premise or on cloud or a mixture of both would do too. Being in the BigData industry, it supports even Parquet and ORC data formats too which is a small but a useful advantage too.

A little difficult to setup when shifting from physical on-prem to cloud infra. Apart from that the Vertica Accelerator if available on other Cloud platforms would be nice as it is only limited to AWS, where organizations using other platforms would not be able to take advantage of it.

A Data Warehousing solution that mitigates the problem of slow processing with large data, helps in modeling data, driving organizations to carry out good decisions regarding the business at a low cost.

The best part about this enterprise Analytical Database management tool is the speed. We literally have more than a thousand million rows of data kept there and it is still the fastest tool I came across. Also, we migrated from the On-Premise to On-Cloud version of it. Also it supports multiple languages which makes it easy for accessing the data.

The only thing I dislike about this tool was the lack of support in migration from On Premise to On Cloud. We had to take help from External consulting team due to the lack of trainings and tutorials available.

We are keeping the whole customer order data in this tool to analyze the purchasing patterns and devising our Incentive compensation and marketing strategies accordingly. We are also using this for statistical analysis and pattern matching.

It is a pretty stable Datawarehouse solution and really manageable in some aspects as many other similar solutions it allows for scale of thousands and thousands of records

It has a lot of flaws like sometimes queries would take ages if you are not constantly purging your tables (in case you do a lot of deletes over that table) something I haven't experienced in other solutions like Redshift

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

Vertica is versatile since it supports both on-premises and cloud infrastructure. Besides, it allows engineers to see how query would be on executed and to optimize it both manually and automatically.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

There are standard SQL functions which Vertica has not supported yet. For instance, pivot, except, unnest, array_agg functions is not provided, causing various issues when migrating from another system like BigQuery.

**What problems is Rocket Vertica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vertica can run on-premises, which allows corporates control their own infrastructure. As a result, the fees can be reduced by two-thirds of the payment for cloud infrastructure.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

Performance. We can process millions of records and the aggregation operation is also super fast. Also, the insert operation is not taking that much time. The usage of CTEs which actually her stands in analogous to temp table operation is also very useful.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

A native development environment and absence of parameters and absence of stored procedures. It would be better if you could provide all these and along with some profiler service. Plus the performance is very poor if we use UNION ALL operation that too with the same data set.

**Recommendations to others considering Rocket Vertica:**

Absence of parameters and stored procedures leads to extensive use of dynamic queries, which should be handled by the backend

**What problems is Rocket Vertica solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First of all it's super fast. I don't know how you guys do that and I couldn't see any perfect documentation on this as well. The aggregation operation is so fast that we are planning for data streaming rather than ETL and we hope the same performance will be there as well. We are processing millions of records within milliseconds using Vertica, and there is no considerable variation in performance even when we use "OR" conditions in filter, which is one of the bottlenecks in conventional RDBMSs

As an FYI, I'm not sure what version you're using, but the latest versions have stored procedures. They're pretty basic for the moment, but getting more feature rich all the time.

All the syntax and function naming speaks for themselves. On top of that, good documentation always comes to the rescue. They also have a very active and huge community for helping in case.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

No multi-line insert statement is kind of stopping us sometimes. Need some tweaking around to find the exact solution which will work perfectly. It is an inherent problem when it comes to columnar DB.

Best for data storage and BI tools.

We need to store a huge amount of data in the database and query some of it at a time. While querying a few columns from a big database, it takes a constant amount of time when using Vertica.

There is no need to create data structures again. It enables the integration of millions of rows to be delivered in real-time. It also provides advanced analytics features that are not present in Teradata or other platforms.

I think Vertica should be flexible with cloud providers like Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform like Snowflake does. The storage cost and query execution should be more secure using service accounts.

Vertica is helping me to fetch millions of rows in real-time. Vertica has faster processing speed although it uses around 90% of space. I think they have designed Vertica with business needs in mind.

**What do you like best about Rocket Vertica?**

One thing that stood out is the ease of use and having my data accessible and being able to integrate various tools like Tableau Server to help visualize and analyze the data with ease.

**What do you dislike about Rocket Vertica?**

I was bothered by the fact that I'm not able to migrate the data from one cluster to another as whole schemas instead of exporting the data into an S3 bucket using select statements and then importing that data into the destination cluster which caused multiple issues with some timestamp values in some tables, But I managed to work around this issue by changing the Data partitioning mode to node partitioning.

Do you want Vertica? Get a team to manage and administer it.

Vertica is playing a huge role in the collection, storage and analysis of data that are pouring in from multiple sources. the company is accessing its data instantly and we can put plans in action to address issues before they appear thanks to the data stored in Vertica which is allowing us to monitor and predict trends
