It is familiar territory if you use programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, After Effects, and programs like that. It allows you to animate objects and images with ease. You can export as HTML with Hype. You can also produce animated GIFs that are high quality. You can create digital ads that seem really complex, but actually have simple builds. **What do you dislike about Tumult Hype?** I'm not too fond of exporting the files for a particular program; you have to have a strong knowledge of code. It isn't easy to find resources to address any concerns with this. I had web developers set up our file for the application that we needed, but it would be nice to have built-in export script templates or tutorials on building export scripts. The program has had a few bugs when using a complex amount of animations. Some of the filter effects have given me issues in the past. The effects would render incorrectly or would not work. **Recommendations to others considering Tumult Hype:** Hype is very helpful if you know enough about web design, video, or animation, but you do not know about code. It is an excellent resource for creating digital interactive and animated ads. **What problems is Tumult Hype solving and how is that benefiting you?** I build in-app interactive ads with Hype. Hype allows the user to interact with an ad and click buttons to prompt an action or behavior. The user can also move objects around or start a timeline behavior by clicking or tapping within the ad. I use it for the "gamification" of ads to make them more exciting and approachable. I also use it to create interactive or animated web products to upload to websites with an iframe. Hype provides the flexibility needed to develop non-traditional elements. I use hype to make ads for both tablet and mobile devices. I also use the physics properties to create more gravity controled ads. ### 4. The supporting documentation and video tutorials make learning and refreshers quick and easy. It's a way to product HTML5 that is fast, testable and as elaborate as you'd like. The learning curve and production process are both quick and easy. If you've ever used Flash in the past, where it was, maybe, an "8" degree of difficulty, Hype is a "3". Complex animations are remarkably easy to create and never fail when deployed. Unlike most alternatives, I've found it to be glitch-free. **What do you dislike about Tumult Hype?** I'm not fond of the way Hype handles the production of responsive sites/elements. It works very well but, for my mind, requires considerable internal translation to yield the desired result. It's the one thing I find less than intuitive. I think I've got it figured out but usually have to do multiple iterations to get the proper result. **Recommendations to others considering Tumult Hype:** By all means, take advantage of the free trial and see if it works for you. Make use of the amply populated YouTube channel for tutorials and set aside some time to really dive into it and have some fun. **What problems is Tumult Hype solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hype makes the production of elaborate and detailed animations very, very easy. The ability to export these as either HTML5 or video is massively useful. I've used Hype since it was first introduced and, while I've produced entire sites with it, I most often use it as a production tool for creating embedded animations or for use in video. It is an enormous time-saver from that standpoint. ### 5. Good but not straightforward. If I upload vectorial files from other softwares I'm able to make those form interact with the user. If you are more used to design than to code, this is a software that let's you find a good balance. I like the timeline approach that it's basically the same as After effects, Premiere or many more. **What do you dislike about Tumult Hype?** There's quite few bugs and sometimes is hard to complete easy interactions on click. The files could become really messy. The interactions on the objects are really few. There's no a fast preview approach and each time is mandatory to relaunch the prototype on the browser. Sometimes is too much technical, and the auto-resizing feature is really hard to configure, I wasn't able to use it properly. This is not a software recommended for complex prototypes with many interactions. **Recommendations to others considering Tumult Hype:** Keep in mind that the learning curve is not low, so you need to have patience in order to use this software in a proper way. **What problems is Tumult Hype solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm able to create fast prototypes of ideas on my daily design routine. Even if i'm not a proper coder, I can turn ideas of interaction into live webpages that can be sent to the client. From the idea to the online visualization the steps are really short. I added a new capability inside my team, so know we know that each time is necessary to translate some visual into a interactive prototype, Tumult Hype could be the right choice. ### 6. An amazing feature is the fact that you can design an animation by using 2 main tools (timelines and scenes) which makes Tumult Hype very flexible. The additional optional to add some lines of code makes the software even more valuable. **What do you dislike about Tumult Hype?** Unfortunately Tumult Hype have several bugs that can seriously jeopardize the user experience and reduce the speed at which one can produce an artefact. For instance, When the user edits an element within a group, the interface has some rendering issues which go off when exiting the group. Another issue that seldom happen is related to the opacity level of an element. when editing the opacity of an element that has already been animated, this affects all animations, generating values that ranges from -100% to 200% that are clearly wrong. **Recommendations to others considering Tumult Hype:** This is great to quickly implement small interactions and digital experiences. However mind to keep it small, or else the software will start lagging if you push it over its boundaries: this means you should not have too many animated elements going on in the same scene. **What problems is Tumult Hype solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tumult Hype has been greatly helpful in creating prototypes of digital interfaces to test the user interaction, crafting compelling animations to help sell design concepts to clients, as well as create little HTML interactive responsive artefacts which were then integrated in websites. ### 7. I've actually created whole websites with it, as well as menus, and other web elements. It's pretty drag and drop and it doesn't take long to learn. I think it depends on how much experience you already have with linear motion editors. **What do you dislike about Tumult Hype?** No much to dislike. It does what I need it to. It's basically drag and drop. I would say the only drawbacks would be it's helpful to already have a knowledge and experience with timeline based applications (movie editing or motion) and to get under the hood knowing Java Script can help. **Recommendations to others considering Tumult Hype:** If you need a way to create animation or unique features for websites, games or apps. This was timely option. **What do you dislike about Tumult Hype?** Pretty disappointed with this entirely. If you want to do HTML5 specifically for Safari and Apple products then maybe this is a great option but for what this does even in the pro version that you pay extra for, there is nothing here that can't be accomplished, and even with better results with free alternatives or professional tools. When I found the original product lacking I was enthusiastic to see how the new version had improved but very disappointed with the lack of updated features and support materials that are offered by alternate products such as a wide variety of templates. At the price offered and for the updates and upgrades to a "pro version" there should be a lot more in my opinion and paying for a standard version that is little more than an advertisement to pay for a pro version is very disappointing to say the least. **Recommendations to others considering Tumult Hype:** I would not recommend. **What problems is Tumult Hype solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have not realized any benefits from this product. ### 9. In a Hype document, only one layout can only be specified for a specific breakpoint at that one specific horizontal resolution. For example layouts can be set up for all iPhone resolutions in a single Hype document today. However, in a few days when the iPhone X is launched, its horizontal resolution is 375px which matches the horizontal resolution of the iPhone 6/6s/7/7s/8. Thus, a second document must be made to handle the iPhone X to design for its greater vertical resolution. **Recommendations to others considering Tumult Hype:** You won't be disappointed. This keyframe-based animation gives the opportunity to create simple animation (and use them into a GIF) or project more complex project for Web. The whole interface is simple and after several days of study to become familiar with It the fun begins. I recommend the PRO version because it has more features (Psysical Engine, for example) than the basic version. It's perfect for my business use. **What do you dislike about Tumult Hype?** As a new software, there are some little bugs that require to pay much more attention than a normal software. You can't completely trust it, a simple distraction could be fatal to your work. I know the developers are always on work to fix them, in order to give us the best experience. For my first project I was able to break down a graphic into layers and create a fun animation in under an hour without really even using the software before! **What do you dislike about Tumult Hype?** I haven't really found anything that I dislike about Hype. I've been able to find resources on their forum to read up about improving my skills or working through and idea I have for a project. **Recommendations to others considering Tumult Hype:** I have just scratched the surface of what Hype can do and have really enjoyed the possibilities Hype can create. If you are looking for an app that can create animations for HTML5 you should definitely give Hype a try. And then making sure the animation would work on all browsers was also difficult. Hype allows for HTML5 exports and also the creation of widgets for Apple's iBooks.
