"Snippets Made Easy, But Mobile Needs Work"
4.5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

I use TextExpander in my daily activities for both work and personal tasks. I have created many snippets which I use often, and it saves me keystrokes for phrases I frequently use. I really like the ease of creating and organizing snippets, and I appreciate that I can specify the abbreviation to suit my needs. It makes it easier to keep track of and organize my context-specific snippets. Also, the initial setup was easy, and I use it on both my Mac and PC to fill in fields in almost every application I use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

It does not work well on my phone. It seems harder than it should to switch to the TextExpander keyboard. The app seems to need to be upgraded often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Repetitive Tasks with Handy Date Picker"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

Quick and easy way to do repetitive wording tasks without having to retype the content. The new date picker has made this even more useful. I find this easier to use than macros in Salesforce but use this almost exclusively with updates being made in Salesforce or emails. Time saver which provides a valuable, easy to use solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

Nothing really— it does the job I expect it to do.

One suggestion would be to support more repetitive wording tasks. It can handle this in the moment when it comes up, but it doesn’t seem to carry that across time.

One enhancement I’d like to see is automatic date tagging, so I don’t have to select the date myself. That would mean fewer button clicks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple, User-Friendly Snippets That Boost Communication Efficiency"
4.5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

The best I love about this platform is the simplicity of this platform with a good user friendly interface. This platform really assist me with repetitive words, sentences and number by using snippets which can be recalled with just a code assigned for those words, sentences or number. This enhances efficiency in communication with lesser effort. I also love the ability of this platform to detect the spelling mistakes which saves from embarrassment while performing critical communication. I love the overall performance f this platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

I love most parts of this platform but I wish that the price was a little bit lower. I also wish that more integration could be done smoothly with editing software's. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Huge Time‑Saver for Everyday Work"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

What I like best about TextExpander is how much time it saves while keeping my responses consistent and professional. I can quickly insert well‑written replies, reduce repetitive typing, and focus more on helping customers rather than rewriting the same messages. It also helps minimize errors and keeps my communication clear and on‑brand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

One thing I dislike about TextExpander is that it can take some time to initially set up and organize snippets effectively, especially when managing a large library. There’s a bit of a learning curve when creating advanced snippets or placeholders, but once everything is set up, the tool works very smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A High-ROI Productivity Boost for Personalized Outreach and Day to Day"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

TextExpander has become one of those tools I didn't know I needed until I couldn't imagine working without it. As an Account Executive in enterprise sales, I send a high volume of personalized outreach, follow-ups, and internal communications every day. TextExpander lets me store and instantly deploy my best-performing messaging without sacrificing the ability to customize on the fly. The snippet system is intuitive, and the fill-in fields are a game-changer for templated emails that still need to feel personal.

The real productivity unlock for me has been the organization and search functionality. I maintain dozens of snippets across different use cases — prospecting sequences, meeting recaps, LinkedIn messaging — and being able to group them logically and pull them up instantly across any application keeps me in flow. I'm not tabbing out to find a Google Doc or scrolling through old emails to copy a talk track. It's just there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

If I had one wish, it would be even more robust team sharing and version control features — being able to see when a shared snippet was last updated or collaborate on snippet libraries with colleagues would make it an even stronger tool for sales teams. That said, for individual power users, it's genuinely one of the highest-ROI tools from a time savings. The time saved compounds fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Customized Text Repositories: Great for Education and Business."
4.5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

TextExpander has significantly streamlined my communication by allowing me to quickly insert standardized text snippets, saving valuable time and reducing errors. It creates efficiencies in routine interactions that help me maintain consistency and professionalism. I also appreciate the variable text elements feature, which, when fully utilized, adds powerful customization options to further enhance my productivity and personalization. It is a useful tool in education because of the way it allows me to develop standardized comments and feedback on assignments, customized to specific experiences. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

TextExpander at times gets in the way of the editing and writing that I do. Text snipped shortcuts are best when written to be just a few characters. This is a challenge when I don't think ahead to consider snippets that might be part of written language. Also, I forget at times which applications this is used in, so shortcuts in Word, Internet browsers and other applications at times show up when unexpected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Amy Schwartz of TextExpander

We're thrilled that TextExpander is helping you save time and boost your productivity, Roger. Thanks for your review!

A quick tip for making sure your TextExpander don't get in the way when you are writing is to change your expansion settings to include a delimiter. If you add the tab key or space bar as your delimiter, for instance, then you will only be able to expand your TextExpander Snippets when the delimiter is clicked. I've included a link to the Resource Center article about Expansion settings below for you.

"Robust Snippets and Templates that Scale Team Collaboration"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

TextExpander is a robust macro environment in which I can define anything from quick shortcuts to complex forms using the intuitive builder. These easy-to-implement templates help me write emails, execute complex CLI commands, and provide my customers with consistent and timely support. And with shared snippets, it becomes a scalable team collaboration and productivity tool, ensuring we're all working off the same playbook. Their customer support goes above and beyond to solve problems. It's no wonder I have a streak of using TextExpander for over 400 consecutive weeks! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

When subscribing to a group of shared snippets, it's not possible to unsubscribe from a single snippet that may conflict with a local/personal one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Amy Schwartz of TextExpander

We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review, Ken! It's great to know that TextExpander is enhancing your productivity and efficiency.

If you subscribe to a group of shared Snippets and find that you want to remove some of the Snippets within that group, you can always right-click on the group to duplicate it, then you will have that group in "My Snippets" and you will be able to remove the Snippets you don't want. The only downside to that approach is that you won't get any updates from the Shared Snippets unless you make them yourself.

"A Huge Time-Saver for Emails and Life Admin"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

There are many phrases, sign-offs, sentences, and pieces of information related to my work and 'life admin' that I previously wrote up to 10 times a week. Those related to my life-admin especially, such as addresses, vehicle registration numbers, passport number, policy numbers, etc, required I look them up through my files and emails. I no longer do that! I simply type a few letters and an email appears, including separate paragraphs, or any other piece of information that I created a snippet for.

I love that it functions in ANY software or application.

I also use TextExpander to auto-correct certain words I often mistype, similar to the AutoCorrect function in Word.

Making snippets is also extremely easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

The only downside to TextExpander currently is that there is no mobile app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Amy Schwartz of TextExpander

"Worth the Learning Curve"
5/5
What do you like best about TextExpander?

What I like best about TextExpander is how it eliminates repetitive typing across every app I use. Running multiple businesses across Japanese, Korean, and English means I'm constantly writing similar emails, order confirmations, and customer responses. With TextExpander, I've turned hundreds of these into snippets that I trigger with a few keystrokes. The fill-in fields are especially valuable — instead of static templates, I can build snippets that prompt me for the variable details (customer name, order number, date) and output a fully customized message. It's not just about speed; it's about consistency. Every customer gets the same professional, error-free response, and I never have to remember exact wording or formatting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TextExpander?

The shift to a subscription model is hard to love. TextExpander used to be a one-time purchase, and the move to recurring pricing felt steep for what is, at the core, a text replacement utility. I understand the business reasons such as ongoing sync infrastructure, cross-platform development, etc., but for individual users who don't need team features, the value-to-cost ratio feels off compared to alternatives like Alfred, Raycast, or open-source options like Espanso.
