Symantec EDR has various modules including anti virus , there is HIPS( host intrusion prevention solution) that detects and respond to threat trying to evvade any endpoint. It detect each and every process and network connections made by endpoint. Antivirus solution detect and clean any malware,virus or trojan , scanned each binaries executed on system. There is ATP too in Symantec EDR that is advanced threat protection which allows us to blacklist IOCs in advance. The best thing is that this edr not just detect but also respond/ block threat. This EDR solution not just provide protection against listed threats but also do heuristics behavioural analysis that is very helpful to block new/ zero day or undetected threats. **What do you dislike about Symantec Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)?** There is nothing as such I dislike yet about Symantec but yes now a days we are having a lot of EDR in market. Earlier it was difficult to have data Leakage protection, but Symantec DLP solved it in all We are earlier not able to find or trace hosts that are connected via vpn or having public facing IP but as edr captures each processes within exact time stamp we are able to trace and cover infrastructure gaps Its SONAR module is the best Symantec online network advanced Response provide proactive security against emrging threats by doing lookup with Symantec online intelligence network. We wanted to gain visibility into what was happening on our network and we did achieve that but the follow-up functionality in the investigation, containment, and remediation areas was more robust than we expected. Our IT department has full control over adjustments of all the installations. Employees don't need to worry about scheduled scannings, updatings, fine tunning or anything else. I like how I am able to have real time protection and filter out what we are able to use and not use. This is an important feature in our sector as our employees freely use computers and we need to make sure they don't download anything that can reveal our trade secrets! I also like that it runs in the background with minimal resources allowing us to utilize the resources on on computer without worrying of the anti virus slowing down our projects. **What do you dislike about Symantec Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)?** I dislike that it does filter our some of our software and completely delete them before we are able to recover and take it out of our virus filter. I like that it has that feature but hate that it make you work around a process that can delete vital file. Beware! I also greatly dislike that if i turn off the antivirus, it will turn itself back on within 30 mins or the next restart. It gets annoy as it may turn off the program you are using or delete the entire project.
