"Similarweb turned competitive reviews into an ongoing process"
5/5
What do you like best about Similarweb?

I use Market Analysis to compare direction, relative size, growth, and channel mix, rather than treating any single traffic estimate as absolute truth. If a competitor grows for three consecutive months, gains share within the category, and becomes less dependent on branded search, that’s enough for me to investigate further—even if the numbers will never match its internal analytics exactly. In Website Performance, we look at visits, unique visitors, visit duration, pages per visit, bounce rate, and how those metrics trend over time. Reading these metrics in isolation often creates more confidence than understanding. A competitor can increase traffic while engagement deteriorates, or lose overall volume while sending a larger share of users to pages with stronger commercial intent. I usually start with the movement, then break it down by channel, page, geography, and search behavior to understand what’s actually driving it. From a marketing perspective, the value isn’t in collecting another competitive chart; it’s in using the evidence to make better decisions about markets, channel mix, content priorities, emerging competitors, or budgets that were previously being defended with little more than instinct. What do you dislike about Similarweb?

The estimates tend to be more dependable for established domains with meaningful traffic than for smaller, newer, or highly specialized sites. We saw this clearly while researching regional providers: several domains showed very little activity or had insufficient data, even though our sales team and their local presence indicated they were doing real business. "Complete tool for market and competitors surveillance"

What do you like best about Similarweb?

The App Analysis and AI traffic source has improved during last months along with the sourcing split on more detailed categories. There is a clear work on improving the tool progressively Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Similarweb?

App analysis on Android doesn`t have full coverage on downloads for specific GEOs on no-Tier 1 countries in the improved APP analysis tool. On small countries there has been also a degradation on accuracy compared to alternative similar data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to Use with Above-and-Beyond Support, Though Traffic Estimates Raise Questions"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Similarweb?

It's really easy to use, and is consistently improving. It uses GA data where possible, and the support we had from our customer success manager was really useful - I'd say "above and beyond". Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Similarweb?

Similarweb estimates traffic data which immediately raises questions among leadership when none of the data within Similarweb can be verified. They do have good supporting documents to help with this, but the questions remain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smarter SEO decisions, half the research time"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Similarweb?

I use Similarweb daily as part of my SEO missions, and it has become an essential tool for analyzing competitors' organic traffic, identifying their strategic keywords, and spotting positioning or backlink opportunities all in one place, without spending hours cross-referencing data.

The interface is clean and well-designed, making it easy to integrate into my daily workflow even for non-data experts. What I particularly appreciate is how quickly I can get an actionable overview: what used to take hours of research now takes minutes.

The AI-powered insights are a real plus they help surface trends and competitive signals I might have missed manually, which directly strengthens my market-driven SEO approach. Customer support is also very responsive; I've always received fast and relevant answers whenever I needed help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Similarweb?

While Similarweb is a tool I rely on daily and find genuinely valuable, there are a few limitations worth knowing about.

The data is based on estimations, and for low-traffic or highly niche websites, the figures can sometimes be quite far from reality. The tool also tends to focus on high-volume keywords, which makes it harder to analyze long-tail queries yet these are often essential in SEO strategy.

On the integration side, connecting Similarweb data to Looker Studio is not as seamless as I would expect it requires workarounds that add friction to the reporting workflow, which can be frustrating when you want to centralize your data in one dashboard.

Pricing can also be a barrier for freelancers or small teams, as advanced features come at a significant cost. Additionally, data coverage on non-English-speaking or niche markets can feel limited at times.

That said, these are known trade-offs for a tool of this scale, and they don't outweigh the overall value it delivers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Similarweb: Powerful Traffic Intelligence for Market Research and Competitor Benchmarking"
5/5
What do you like best about Similarweb?

Previous Response: We use Similarweb regularly in our market research projects to estimate website traffic, compare competitors within a specific sector, and better understand traffic acquisition dynamics. It is a very valuable tool for benchmarking players in the same market and identifying differences in channel mix, growth patterns, and overall digital performance. What I appreciate most is the depth of analysis it offers. The Industries section is especially useful because it allows us to compare multiple websites within the same category, making it easier to identify market leaders, spot emerging competitors, and get a broader view of the competitive landscape. The platform also provides many opportunities to drill down into the data, and the addition of AI traffic insights is a great evolution that makes the analysis even more relevant today. From a user experience perspective, the interface is intuitive, although there is an initial learning curve because the platform is rich in features and it takes some time to understand where all the different data points are located. Once you become familiar with it, however, it becomes very efficient and powerful to use. Another strong point is integration. The ability to download data in Excel is very practical for day-to-day work, and the APIs are a major advantage for more advanced use cases. We use them both for exports into Looker Studio and for integration into an internal software solution we are currently developing, which makes the platform even more valuable in our workflow. In terms of performance, Similarweb is currently the best solution we use for traffic data. We use it also for AI Insights (AEO purpouse), and to analyze competitors advertising strategies, paid intelligence analytics for our campaigns and for intelligence goals, and even for content creation purposes. It offers a strong combination of coverage, usability, and depth, which makes it highly effective for competitive analysis and market intelligence. Pricing is definitely an important consideration, as it is a costly platform, but that is consistent with its professional positioning. For organizations that make extensive use of traffic intelligence and competitor benchmarking, the return can justify the investment. Finally, the support and onboarding experience has been very positive. We have a dedicated contact person who is always available and helpful, and we speak with them regularly. This ongoing support helps us get the most out of the platform and makes the experience much smoother. Overall, Similarweb is an excellent tool for market research and competitive benchmarking, especially for teams that need reliable traffic insights, strong comparison features, and flexible integration options. What do you dislike about Similarweb?

Previous Response: On the downside, some sections of Similarweb are less detailed than others. For example, views such as Industries are very useful for getting a broad market perspective and comparing multiple players at once, but they do not always offer the same level of depth available when analyzing individual websites or a smaller set of up to five sites in direct comparison. Another aspect is that the UX changes quite frequently. While the platform remains powerful, these updates can require users to re-familiarize themselves with where features and data are located, which can slow down workflows temporarily. Finally, not all data is equally easy to export. While many datasets can be downloaded, some insights are only practical to capture through screenshots or images rather than structured exports, which can be limiting when you want to reuse the data in reports or internal tools. "Excellent Tool to Support Your Competitive Understanding and Your Strategy"
4/5
What do you like best about Similarweb?

Similarweb furnishes the best competitive data for us. It has an array of views and data points that enable the business to understand the relative performance compared to our competitors in different areas (verticals, platforms, context such AI)

The customer success support is really hands-on and ready to help us answering a plethora of questions.

The API integration works well and its easy to connect, enabling us to ingest the data internally

The UI is quite clear and the charts used are effective in communicating fast insights Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Similarweb?

I think Similarweb has tried to expanded in too many niches (for example SEO topics), losing the focus on overall competitive traffic. This has entailed a huge UI range of options that can be daunting to internalize and not all can be deemed to be important or relevant Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Similarweb?

Ability to hover over the extension to see monthly and YoY traffic, upload contacts from site and Linkedin to Salesforce, AI meeting prep, and capability to find new green space accounts in Similarweb Pro. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Similarweb?

Sometimes the extension does not load to show site traffic but very rarely does this happen, can be hard to make the pop up go away on one side of the screen, and it can have outdated / wrong phone #s occasionally. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I actually really love SimilarWeb"
5/5
What do you like best about Similarweb?

The most impressive thing about the Similarweb UI is how it manages to keep complex, multi-layered data from feeling overwhelming. The App Intelligence dashboard is designed with a logical flow that mirrors a typical analyst's workflow. Switching between App Rankings and Keyword Optimization is seamless, but the real "hero" feature of the interface is the unified view. Having Web and App data in one place—without having to toggle between different platforms or export to a spreadsheet—is a massive time-saver. The visualizations are clean, presentation-ready, and make it easy to spot trends in the "fast-moving mobile landscape" at a glance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Similarweb?

While the UI is clean (as we discussed), some of the more advanced features—like "Direct vs. Referred" app installs or deep keyword attribution—require a bit of a "Similarweb Academy" deep dive to fully master. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It's (still) hard to imagine search insights without using Similarweb"
5/5
What do you like best about Similarweb?

Similarweb's paid and organic traffic insights remain central to our search performance reporting. The platform's true value isn't just in the raw numbers, but in the wider context it provides, allowing us to move beyond "what happened" to "why it happened."

We’ve recently expanded our use of the tool to monitor multi-regional trends. This has been a game-changer for identifying whether a performance shift is a local anomaly or part of a broader global pattern across our competitors.

Additionally, we've started leveraging the AI traffic referral metrics. While I’m still maintaining a healthy skepticism regarding the maturity of data for LLMs like Gemini and ChatGPT, it is currently one of the only reliable proxies available to help us understand how AI search is impacting our click-through landscape. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Similarweb?

There are a few persistent workflow niggles... alongside a newer consideration regarding their AI metrics.

Date Range Flexibility: The platform is still heavily reliant on pre-defined intervals (like "Last 28 days" or full months). For a digital marketer running mid-month campaigns or specific sprint reports, not being able to set a truly custom "start and end" date range is a productivity bottleneck.

Data Granularity at the Low End: The "under 5,000" traffic floor is still an issue in the standard exports. While I understand the need for statistical significance, seeing a flat "<5,000" instead of the directional estimate makes it difficult to track emerging competitors or niche players before they hit that threshold.

AI Data Maturity & Transparency: The AI traffic referral data is a brilliant addition, but it still feels like an unknown to a certain extent. Because these metrics are so new, I’d love to see more transparency around the methodology or even some sort of "confidence score" for these figures. Right now, it’s a useful data point, but I’m not yet at the stage where I’d make a major business decision on those specific numbers without more context on their reliability. "Cost-Effective with Great Customer Service"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Similarweb?

I really appreciate the customer service at Similarweb. There are moments when I need more data than my current access allows, and when I reach out, they're happy to provide me with one-off reports. This service is really helpful from a sales standpoint, as being able to tell our prospects where they stand compared to the competition and where the opportunities are helps us appear educated and knowledgeable. I also like that Similarweb costs a fraction of what other platforms do, yet it offers the same solutions. The initial setup was instant, allowing me to get in and start using it right away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Similarweb?

I think with most platforms that support SEO, the backlink database and classification and criteria of backlinks can definitely help us understand where the off-page opportunities are. In terms of helping build prompts and semantic triples to help with our off-page LLM for SEO as it relates to answer engine optimization, I think there's some opportunity there.
