## SAS Enterprise Guide Reviews
  ### 1. Best tool for data preparation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2019

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Handles chunks of data with ease. Data preparation is very easy.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Support for cutting edge algorithms is missing

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data preparation for modelling

  ### 2. SAS Enterprise Guide - Data Manipulation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I'm relatively new to SAS (came from SPSS) so there was a small learning curve, but overall i've come to find that writing your own code is pretty helpful in fully understanding what is happening behind the scenes. I use it mostly for data manipulation, getting massive data sets down to managable sizes before exporting it out

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Sometimes the errors you receive when something doesn't run or work is very hard to understand. I wish there was a better way to show exactly what you did wrong, rather than a generic statement with vague instructions like "SAS is expecting a..."

**Recommendations to others considering SAS Enterprise Guide:**

Obviously there are a myriad of options that can be used as a data mining tool, but in my experience between SPSS and SAS, i prefer SAS because i prefer to write out my code. And with more experience i know there is alot you can unlock in SAS.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Overall it's a great tool that can be used to pull your data, manipulate it to a managable size before exporting it out to be worked in Excel, Tableau, etc. I know that you can create graphs, charts, etc in SAS, but they aren't interactive like Tableau, so i rarely use this.

  ### 3. SAS Enterprise Guide v7.1 is a wholesome tool for Data Analytics

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2019

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Among many, the best is to be able to create Project files where the entire Process flow is connected to embed programs, import & export, see the dependencies and easy to use unlike predecessors of Base SAS v9.1

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Proc Import/export still does not work sometimes in the coding module and has to be triggered manually.

**Recommendations to others considering SAS Enterprise Guide:**

In case of basic understanding of SAS, one can easily switch to EG for data analytics, writing production scripts & adhoc queries. The best part is its GUI based querying tools and creation of process flows to integrate multiple codes, imports & exports all together in one place. Highly recommended for heavy adhoc based querying work as well as creating production scripts within the analytics space.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to check Statistical model data validation in Credit Risk. Several inbuilt features for slicing & dicing with data makes it user friendly and the ability to connect with Hadoop cluster via remote is great. Also for use of regression techniques additional statistical procedures are very useful

  ### 4. Great learning tool and data manipulation software!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rochelle F. | Senior Program Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Because SAS programming requires knowing a specific coding language, it can be tricky at first especially for new users. SAS Enterprise Guide allows users to get assistance with things like importing their data, writing code, re-organizing/cleaning data, filtering, running basic analyses and designing a program for future use. I like that it is user-friendly, but still powerful.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

The output program code doesn't always run in base SAS - so you can't use drop downs to create a streamlined program that you can run in base SAS. You still need to have a basic understanding of SAS - and data management to use the tool.

**Recommendations to others considering SAS Enterprise Guide:**

I would highly recommend reading up on the background of SAS and how the programming language works. Often times when you are having difficulty running a program or manipulating a dataset it is because you aren't 'telling' SAS what to do correctly using code. I also suggest taking a SAS user training to assist you with using SAS.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Analyzing large data sets efficiently, cleaning up 'messy' data, creating reports to send to stakeholders for evidence-based decision making.

  ### 5. I use SAS for many projects and its functionality is the best in some areas, not so great in others

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2018

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I use SAS almost exclusively for data generation in quantitative projects - the functionality and ease of data generation can't be beat once proficiency is achieved. SAS is also my go-to software for fitting multilevel (hierarchical) models - it can do almost (not quite) everything I've ever needed, and uses minimal code to do so. I have been using SAS throughout my career and would say it is the program I'm most comfortable working in, even for data management

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Three things: graphs, data management, and structural equation models. The SAS graphics are so basic, it takes a lot of programming to get them to look even remotely presentable. That's not to say the capability isn't there, it just isn't worth the trouble when there are so many better programs that easily produce beautiful plots. It's a pain to transfer between programs when I've done everything else in SAS to produce the graphics elsewhere.

**Recommendations to others considering SAS Enterprise Guide:**

With SAS enterprise miner you get a corporate solution that entities you to create accurate , predictive and descriptive models. There is a reason why sas is the leading analytics solution. Its because of tools like this.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is pretty good that it can produce such advanced models with a very simple user interface. The benefits I saw was more accurate forecasts in a quarter of the time to set up models. I used SAS enterprise miner as soon as it was launch in the market. At that time I was also using clementine from SPSS too, but the graphical analysis were much cleaner with SAS. I have not used it for many years since, though.

  ### 6. Very good for modeling data

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2018

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I like it’s speed and scalability. The range of options it provides to connect to different data bases and even to Hadoop data lake. Also automation option helps run scheduled scripts daily.

**What do you dislike about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

I dislike how heavy the tool is. It often require lots of resources to run a program in sas enterprise guide, which indeed makes system slow and sometimes hangs the system.

**What problems is SAS Enterprise Guide solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I mostly use SAS EG to connect to different data bases and pull data into sas platform. Then I do my data analysis in SAS to generate value from that data.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Delainey M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2018

**What do you like best about SAS Enterprise Guide?**

Using the code produced from the GUI is really helpful. Can easily teach myself using the GUI.
