Behind each tile there is a transaction code which a user won't need to memorize which is the case for GUI. It requires a tremendous work to configure each tile correctly and once done the tiles can be united into groups and assigned to a User profile. Fiori apps are intuitive thus require less investment into the intelligence of staff, less training effort. Not all transactions from ERP are converted to SAP Fiori applications, so SAP GUI must still be used in some cases. If you take the example of list report, if you want to have the custom width to columns then you have to save it to custom variant but gllobal filter doesn't pass in the custom variant.
